This looks like a lot of fun, but he's right. If you want to defend yourself don't use gimmicks. If you're willing to put in the time and money to buy a firearm, learn to use it accurately, safely, and responsibly, and can get a concealed carry permit, then I would go that route (in fact I have). Otherwise, use pepper spray or a taser. The kind that shoots the electrified darts, not the boxy, sparky ones you have to jab the assailant with. Those don't knock out or stun people. They just hurt really bad and will probably just piss off the bad guy. And of course, it's best to try and avoid violent confrontations altogether.

Possibly. I know for sure if you drop it it springs open. Not something I would recommend.
