My now deceased father-in-law and I happened to be reading the Green Mile books independently and unknown to each other at the same time. During a family dinner, the TV in the family room was on, but on mute and a commercial for the Green Mile was playing on the screen. We both froze and said, "That's John Coffey!" One of the few times we saw eye to eye! R.I.P. Ray.

I met MCD in a diner in Orlando called Angels. Without telling him, I paid for his breakfast + was getting to leave. Before I could, he came up to me, thanked me after I’d said how much I loved his performance + proceeded to put double the amount his breakfast had cost into the charity box the finer had for providing decent breakfasts to poorer kids. He was a giant without camera trickery + a total class act. I wish him the best wherever he moved on to.

I recently rewatched this, and loved the way Del was such a likeable character we could all root for. Then feel sadness from his tortuous execution. I liked your earlier commentary on this and this is just as great. You're right, "The Green Mile" doesn't feel like three hours long. My family viewed this several times and while we were watching it the first time, it was one of three times I saw my father cry. We were all teary eyed. "Mile" is a powerful, deeply intimate story. I thought it was interesting that the ugly, heinous crime that Coffey was accused of was focused on the same place that Paul's infection was located. It makes you think. Thanks for this video. It's as good as the first one. Keep them coming.

The Best Stephen King Adaptation ever! 99% accurate to the books, (Stephen King himself said so) The only thing wrong with this awesome film is the sad fact that, despite all the nominations, it didn't actually win a single Academy Award. I actually saw it before I got to see The Shawshank Redemption but in my opinion, The Green Mile wins hands down. I also didn't think it was too long - in fact I was surprised that 3 hours and 15 minutes had passed after I first saw it. And yes, I left the Cinema with tears in my eyes. This has got to be one of my favorite Steven King movies. Although King is known for the horro stories, this movie (and book) is a drama with a supernatural undertones. The other movie that is similar is Stand By Me (based on the short story The Body) which was a coming of age story. I was sad to hear of Duncan's passing. Every actor, the established ones as well as the newbies, really gave their all every second of that 3 hrs and 15 minutes...
