Good video but I have to disagree with not having a lesson or taster session pre cbt. Reasons why as an instructor myself I have found that in certain cases I.e the younger generation they have not had any experience at all regarding riding any petrol or electric vehicle ( obviously off road or within a controlled safe area) so it can be very daunting for some that not only have they got learn how to ride but also learn how to ride in a safe manner, and I’ve found on some occasions that before the 2 hour minimum road ride (element e) that some students don’t meet requirements so have to come back for further training,so in my opinion I like to offer taster sessions. But good information given in video 👍

It is disturbing just how many people turn up having not even looked at the Highway Code and do not even understand how basic road systems work. Watching a student go the wrong way around a roundabout or turn onto the wrong side of the road or traffic island is terrifying. And, no, I don't sign them off.

@@DevonD.B Irrelevant. The CBT syllabus does not cover training in the Highway Code. It is expected, and reasonable, that people do some self preparation before turning up. My role is to teach people to ride, not to nurse them through the Highway Code. CBT would be significantly longer and more costly if you want me to spend days in a classroom teaching people theory. I had a full grasp of basic road principles long before I sat astride a motorcycle. I expect people turning up for CBT to have done likewise. It's not difficult.

All my local training schools don't let you take a cbt on a geared bike if you haven't ridden one before, "because there won't be enough time to teach a good enough level of using the hears and clutch to be able to pass in the timeframe allowed". Can someone clear this up for me because different people are saying different things and it’s confusing me I am a 22 year old with only a previsional license so by law what am I allowed to drive 50cc or can I drive up to 125cc?
@BikeMatters2 жыл бұрын
With only a provisional license, you can't ride anything until you take a CBT. From 17 onward you can ride up to a 125cc machine after successfully passing your CBT.

@@BikeMatters thank you I knew I had to complete a CBT regardless but I just wasn’t sure after the completion what I was allowed to drive with only the provisional but thanks for clearing that up

Hi.. If i choose #automatic instead of manual then ..after passing can i ride 125 bike or not or i have to only permission for automatic 125 scooters only? 😍
@jonnygonzales3875 Жыл бұрын
The test centre guy I spoke to when I booked my test said it didn't matter! I guess best to learn on the bike you will, ride though. My test is in 3 days!

CBT covers both manual and automatic regardless of what bike you trained on. It's a loophole in the system that really needs closing.

I'm 16 and I'm interested in motorcycles but you can't learn gears at 16 apparently because they only have 125cc motorcycles which I'm not allowed to use so, my only choice is a scooter.
@markellott5620 Жыл бұрын
You can if you can source a geared 50cc machine restricted to 28mph. They are like hen's teeth and no school will have one available.

So can you actually fail this?
@Dronesteve-72 Жыл бұрын
Don’t turn up
@markellott5620 Жыл бұрын
Yes. If you do not meet the standard, then the instructor will not issue a certificate. You will need further training until you do meet the standard. It is not a turn up and get a ticket.

my mate passed his in a hour ?
@markellott5620 Жыл бұрын
Then someone is breaking the DVSA rules and needs to have their licence to train revoked, or your mate is telling whoppers. The road ride element alone is a minimum of two hours. CBT consists of five elements. On a good day, I can get through in about five hours. That's with people who already have riding experience and don't need much tuition.

Having your own gear isnt essential as The company provides that

I've never been able to find a sensible answer to this, maybe someone here will know the answer. A light quadricycle can be driven on an AM licence, however a heavy quadricycle requires a B1, people keep saying a heavy quadricycle can be driven on a "bike licence" but I can't see anyway of getting a B1 except for getting a full B car licence. Anyone actually know the score?
