Kimberly Sparrow ask as soon as you feel uncomfortable pain. Sometimes they take about 45 minutes to work I’ve had two babies 😁 also, it might take the anesthesiologist some time to get to you. You don’t want to wait until you’re in too much pain. Generally they let you when you’re about 4 cm. I hope this helps hun have a safe delivery!

Tyler Steele Lol 😂 Not laughing at you, but with you! I used to tell my pts. if you feel like you have to go, just go! Don’t worry about it! It’s perfectly natural & we actually usually expect it! My nurse manager in L&D got pregnant with TWINS while I worked there. She gave herself two Fleets enemas before she came to the hospital! 1. Enemas stimulate labor (I don’t know if they still do it, but it wasn’t uncommon to have to give the big enemas-“SSE HHH”-to stimulate labor if someone was moving slowly/if labor had stopped.), & 2. They clean you out so that you don’t have the pooping problem. Although it’s an option, ALWAYS confirm it’s safe/ok with your OB or midwife for you and your baby before you do it! And if you don’t want to do something like that, DON’T! It’s not required, it’s just for your comfort. We go into EVERY labor expecting women to pant, scream, grab us hard (please, watch the nails!!! 😬), curse, vomit during transition, poop, sweat like crazy, & pee!!! Any/all of the above are NORMAL & don’t bother or offend any of us! Good luck to all, & happy laboring!

I had a bad experience with a midwife for my oldest baby and an amazing experience delivering my son in a hospital with nurses and doctors. I had a miscarriage before having my oldest and my labor followed along the same pattern as my miscarriage so when I had my son I calmly predicted the stages my labor would likely follow and the how quickly things would go once I hit a certain stage. My nurse took notes and used them through out labor to help me and was amazed each time something I had said would happen happened. Then I had a heavily pregnant resident pregnant with her first baby handle the delivery and it was the first natural delivery she had seen. She had only helped with 1 other delivery and was due anytime. She told me after labor as she was stitching me up that she was planning to try to do it naturally and after watching how calmly I behaved she felt she would be able to do it and would just remind herself to do it like Jess. It was wonderful to hear that even though I had felt out of control a few times she had been extremely impressed by me. To be fair though we discovered just 2 months later that I had a freakishly high pain tolerance when my gallbladder went bad and the doctors and nurses in the emergency room tried to send me home because I was calmly talking and holding my baby and nursing him so I COULDN'T have anything really wrong with me. I said I would wait for the blood working to come back before I left and was startled 30 minutes later when several doctors and nurses ran into the waiting room with a wheelchair and a pile of forms for my husband to fill out and rushed me away to get an ultrasound to be sure it hadn't ruptured because the blood work was so bad. They had refused to give me any strong pain killers earlier but now were waving around a syringe of morphine and apologizing. They were even more shocked when I said no it would have to wait until I nursed my baby one more time so I could be sure he was well fed before I got admitted and he would need to be fed pumped milk I had in the freezer for a few days

Reading this comment section makes me almost thankful that I had to spend almost 2 weeks in OB care in the hospital. I had a nurse hold my hand and hug me when I found out my grandfather passed and couldn't see him because he was on the same floor as the Covid patients. That nurse then told me I could request her or any other nurse while I was laboring. I now have 3 OB nurses names saved in my phone for when I go into labor. It makes me feel better that I will already know who will be caring for me.

I know this is an old video but my nurse stayed over her shift time to deliver my daughter. She got sprayed in amniotic fluid as my daughter came out and after she showered she came back and hugged us and kissed my cheek. It was my first delivery and I was terrified! She was the best nurse I have ever had anywhere other than my OB nurse. We even have a picture with her framed in our living room. Labor and delivery nurses rock!!!

This! 🙌🏻 my nurse also got sprayed with a bunch of blood! All over the her, the wall, everything! She was young. I was scared but she kept so calm and stayed! My daughter was already delivered and the main doctor had to raise her voice for her to go get a shower. She also came back and was so sweet. I honestly miss her she was that sweet 😂💕

I had a rude hospice doctor/nurse? Idk it was 1am and the hospital was empty. The on call doctor wasn’t there when I got there and I was crowning. I wanted to push so bad but the doctor/nurse lady wanted me to keep my knees pointed at the ceiling until the OB got there AND when I screamed in pain she told me to be quiet because i was scaring the other women. The pain was intense and my 8lb son tore me up!😂😬 My left side RN was awesome through the screaming tho. I ended up letting my knees fall outward and my son came right out. 2 months later I got a refund check because an OB wasn’t in the room when my son was born. I should have saved myself the painful ride to the hospital and prolonged birthing experience and just had my son at home.

I wish you could be my nurse, you're just AMAZING!😢 I had a horrifying experience when I was 15 weeks pregnant, woke up in a pool of blood and when I got to the hospital I was checked and I wasn't even warned that she would stick her finger inside me and she did it so roughly. After she checked me she just said "You had a miscarriage" with no emotion whatsoever and walked away. I was in tears and couldn't believe that someone could be so cold. I didn't want to accept that my baby was gone and so I sat up and put my hand on my belly and pleaded with God to please fix whatever went wrong. I was admitted and kept praying to God to save my baby. The bleeding stopped and only later that night the gynacologist was available and did an ultrasound and there my baby was sucking his thumb looking so perfect and I cried with relieve that he was okay 😢💙 I am so grateful that I am now 31 weeks pregnant and will meet my little one very soon. I just pray that God assigns caring and lovely nurses to help me deliver my baby.💙

As she was on her way out to leave for the night (about 15 mins later) she passed our room and noticed I had just started pushing (finally!).. you know that nurse came right in, coat on and pocketbook in hand and cheered me on until the baby was born (luckily it was only a few pushes and 10 mins later). what an angel! i will always remember that!

She was the only nurse that was nice to me actually and she got off shift and she waited 2 hours til my emergency c section was done and she was the only one who came to see me in recovery and I just about bawled lol. I WAS SO ALONE! and in the recovery room my husband had to be with our daughter in nicu and when I saw her as she came and squeezed my hand and she apologized for how my labor and delivery went and how traumatizing it was I just looked at her and was like you have no idea I couldn’t have done this without your support so thank you. Cause you are a good guy. Drawing from personal experience... get the car cleaned out if needed and install the car seat before going to the hospital. I say this because the trip home from the hospital is something I've never actually got over and made me loose serious respect and trust in his dependability (again this could just be me. I like to know things are covered and taken care of especially when I ask a person to their face if they completed said task) Don't make her set the new baby in the front seat so she can help you fight with the car seat and move crap around in the car...also cleaning person for a few times a month if it works in the budget.
