The original Alpha models were designed to help Zordon defend planets. Alpha one was exceedingly unstable though and would attack innocent civilians so Zordon had those line of Alphas decommissioned and made Alpha 5 his assistant in the command center. The comics give much more backstory to characters. In fact Zordon created a team of rangers before the current mighty Morphin team. They only had 1 mission to the moon and 3 of the 5 of them died. Only the red Ranger and the Yellow Rangers survived. All the rest died fighting Psycho Green. After that Zordon let the 2 surviving members of the team go back to their normal lives. The Red Ranger who was a young woman kept a souvenir from the mission. Psycho Green’s Dagger. She then started an organization which was basically responsible for the cleanup of all the Ranger’s Battles. The Headquarters of this Organization later became the Space Colony Terra Venture in Lost Galaxy.

Saban couldn't get Soga to come to the States to physically be Rita after S1. So, they explained her new appearance via youth potion. Cortez and Banks being Rita is not a re-casting, technically, as those films don't follow the TV series canon (unlike Turbo.)

Carla Perez was a fine replacement for Soga; it's their cheeks. Julia Cortez had a slenderer face, but she blended right in given she had no upgraded appearance in The Movie.

I missed the Turbo movie when it came out, and didn't watch the series until I was in my late 30s, so Hoyt's Divatox was the first I saw of the character, and I absolutely adored her as a villain. Shepard taking the part halfway through the series was a complete surprise for me, and I didn't realize it was the original actress returning to the role. Each of them was amazing in the part, but Hoyt's portrayal is the one I think of first. Viva la Diva!

The producers of the American Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers series used Zyuranger footage of Soga for the character of Rita Repulsa. After her 2006 passing, the producers of Power Rangers Mystic Force used footage of Soga's final toku role - Heavenly Arch Saint Magiel in Magiranger - as the basis for the "Mystic Mother", but her dubbing voice wasn't the original Rita's voiced by Barbara Goodson, but it was some New Zealand actress who dose an awful impersonate of Rita Repulsa.

I didn't like Power Rangers Samurai, and this was the only time I've lost interest of Power Rangers before I've watched RPM which was by far the best Power Rangers series ever. Making a Japanese-based PR season is a very unique idea. Unfortunately, due to Saban recently buying back the franchise from Disney, the production team had only 6 months to produce this season instead of the usual 2-year production, a problem that would eventually plague its way into the franchise from this season onwards.

Not only did they use Zyuranger actress for Rita but they also used another Zyuranger actress for Scorpina as well. Like Machiko Soga, Ami Kawai (who portray Lami in Zyuranger) also portray Scorpina in MMPR, it wasn't until season 2 when Saban actually used an American actress Sabrina Lu to portray the new Scorpina. Despite using a new actress, the voicework is still dubbed by Wendee Lee.

Rita wasn't Recast. They just only had so much Zyuranger footage to work with so when the US only Lord Zedd was introduced they needed an actress who could be on screen with him. Just look at the episode where Rita and Zedd are turned into good people. The Rita actress was absolutely stunning.

Very funny, fittting and very sad that the original Yellow Ranger was gonna be number one. Aubrey was asking for more money which led to her leaving the show and ended up getting Tuey Trang to play Trini, and sadly later in season 2, the actors who play Jason, Trini and Zack left the show in the same issue as well, asking for higher pay.

Right. It’s very strange to think that for a while, most assumed Audri was in the wrong to ask for more, but turns out Thuy, Austin, Walter and presumably others saw what she saw in terms of better pay, better protection from stunts, etc. It’s unfortunate to think she ended up being the one to take the fall because the production had yet to take off.

Of course Dubois was justified in asking for more but maybe the rest of the cast just didn't know the show would be the phenomenon it was and were just trying to keep a job. Subsequently asking for more was a necessity as they basically were still making shit and had no job security while Saban was making raking in millions.

In my personal opinion, Sheri Moon Zombie should've been cast as Rita Repulsa in the 2017 *Power Rangers* movie. Her performance of Rita would be where she personifies a mixture of Baby Firefly for comedic moments and Michelle Pfeiffer's portrayal of Catwoman for the action and scheming.

All the rangers in seasons 2 and 3 were recast at some point cause they got turn into children either by Lord Zedd or Master Vile so it was the children that play their role in kid form until they revert back to their teenage self. Even Goldar was recast, in the first part of season 1 Goldar's Zyuranger costume was used but in the later episodes after Doomsday and the return of the green ranger, they use a different much older Goldar which eventually became standard in the next 2 seasons.

I heard Brad Hawkins (of VR Troopers) was suppose to be the original White Ranger in MMPR but due to Tommy's popularity Saban decided to bring Jason David Frank back and gave the role to him instead.

This is correct. Jason David Frank had originally left Power Rangers as they obviously ran out of Green Ranger footage from Zyuranger as in Zyuranger, Burai aka DragonRanger dies and passes his powers of the dragon shield and zyusouken to his younger brother Geki. Jason David Frank would then be cast in Saban's new project - Cybertron which would be a proper adaptation of Choujinki Metalder where Jason would play "Adam Steele" and actually shot an actual pilot episode where Steele would become "Cybertron" but it was never to be, as fans kept asking "Where is Tommy? Where is the green ranger?!" and Saban had no choice from the complete popularity of Tommy Oliver, that they had to scrap introducing power rangers fans to the White ranger and bring back Tommy for a few more episodes as Green Ranger, then transfer him over to being the White Ranger with Brad Hawkins going over to the now rebooted Cybertron called "VR Troopers" as his character being called "Ryan Steele" (a obvious nod to JDFs character Adam Steele in the pilot of Cybertron) wearing the same suit from Metalder but also wearing a second suit which was Space Sheriff Shaider. However, despite all of this, Brad actually did voice the Gold Zeo Ranger.

I knew about the Izzy recast because before Dino Fury came out the cast got leaked and the leaks were true except for Alexandra and I don't think Tessa Rao was leaked. Hillary left the first half of Turbo to have time with her newborn baby because she was pregnant while filming the movie. I think Valerie from Lost Galaxy should've been an Honorable Mention because she left for the hospital for the second half of Lost Galaxy and Melody Perkins took her place until she could come back.

I heard the reason that Alexandra Nunez was replaced it was because she did an issue of Playboy. The studio most likely let her go as a precaution. If the chance kids google her name and see over 18 images appear. Also, I believe Catherine Sutherland(pink ranger for Mighty Morphin Zeo & Turbo) said that she auditioned for the role of Dulcea. Just remembered, before Patricia Ja Lee(The pink ranger for the second half of the turbo and in space) that the role of Cassie there was another. Don’t know the actresses name or the reason why she left, but there are a few cast photos that you can find online.

To be honest, even though it would have been nice for Mariska Hargitay to play in Power Rangers, I really preferred her as Captain Olivia Benson in Law & Order SVU. Now that is my favorite live action roll of Mariska Hargitay.

She did play a role in Power Rangers. Her role was that of Dulcea in the original Power Rangers movie. But because she wasn't found good enough, all the scenes with her as Dulcea were remade but with Gabrielle Fitzpatrick as Dulcea.

This list was so well-researched in some areas and just fell flat in others. ESPECIALLY in the Rita segment! 1. Machiko Soga was from the original Japanese footage of that season. Then Carla Perez was who America used for each season afterward. But if they're going to count this, then why not also the woman who played Scorpina? Why do the movies count as a recast when it's a whole separate thing? Why not mention the American voice actress that brought Rita to live for us? Also, Machiko Soga wasn't replaced by Elizabeth Banks in the 2017 movie. Machiko died shortly after Magiranger aired. Meaning, her appearance as Magi-Mother was her last and farewell tribute to Super Sentai and Power Rangers. EVERY long-standing sentai/rangers fan knows that! So why wasn't that in this video? Also, why wasn't Barbara Goodson contacted to pair with Machiko one last time? Just fumbling the ball left and right! Unforgivable!

I never watched mystic force, but I don't get how rita or any other evil could exist since the ending of PR in space. Andros smashed Zordon's case and it was supposed to banish evil. Rita, zedd, and divatox turned human, so how could rita come back, or anyone else for that matter? I hate how they broke continuity! The mighty morphin power rangers also should not have been making any type of appearance in other shows. I did like how they handled it when adam morphed into the black ranger on PR in space, but they said it was dangerous. So why were there original rangers in the legendary battle? The power grid was destroyed...it should've been unusable or else what was the point of getting zeo, turbo, space, etc, if they could've used mmpr thunder powers all along? I know...I'm overthinking it, but I can't be the only one 🤷‍♂️

The difference in Yellow ninja steel ranger I didn’t recall until I saw this. But I 100% remember that Power Morphicon announcement. And I would have loved to see the other Green Dino Fury ranger, but still like who we got. Last, Rose McIver IS fantastic, you’re 100% right there.

Apparently the reason why they cast changed the Yellow Ninja Steel ranger was because the one that was originally cast, had issues getting a visa to travel to New Zealand.

not really sure the divatox was a recast as she left for maternity leave then came right back.. she still had the part the entire time and was awesome in her zany roll, rita it was clear from season 2 onward and the fact it was a voice over the whole time, her playing as mystic mother was so awesome it was one of her lasts roles right before she passed away, trakenia was a very well known exit to the show as they werent even going to air the "movie" with all the backlash it was getting, some of the other roles yeah i can see that
