Putting the young and very sweet natured Miss Barbara Eden on Two Legs and pointing Her toward Mayberry is the definition of a Provocation!😂😇💃❤ Four different Actresses who Guest Starred on "TAGS" also appeared in Elvis Movies: Jane Dulo, Barbara Eden, Sue Ane Langdon, and Joanna Moore.🎼🎵🎶🎸🎹🥁🎥B.W.

I just wanted to give you a little context to the absence of racial discussions on the show. Knowing that Andy Griffith was someone who supported the civil rights movement in real life I think this was more about CBS at the time. You have to remember at the time they also had Gomer Pyle USMC running at the height of Vietnam yet they not only kept him stateside when at a time most service members were at the very least shipping out overseas even if they didn’’t see combat they didn’t even discuss what was going on. Then at the end of the decade the Smothers Brothers also had their show on CBS & were literally canceled because they refused to stop talking about Vietnam. It wasn’t until the early 70’s when CBS had a change in leadership that they began to allow their shows to explore more controversial topics. For example, All in the Family touched all the third rails of religion, race, war even LGBTQ topics. Maude was not only a strong woman figure they had a show on abortion before the Roe decision. They green lit shows like Sanford and Son & the Jeffersons. Then what may have been their biggest hit show, MASH was centered around the one topic they avoided in all of he 60’s. MASH debuted just a few months before the end of the Vietnam war and 3 years before the fall of Saigon which is something that CBS would’ve never allowed under old leadership. I’m not trying to pushback but I hope that at least gives a little more context as to why the discussion of race never took place on The Andy Griffith show.

Crump was a frump, never liked her, I think the best woman for Andy would've been Peg McMillan played by Joanna Moore

A lot of men complaining about a show that was almost too puritanical, with occasional reality sprinkled in that the video makers noticed. Thats the point of the video.

Too wholesome, that it lasted long was admirable.Green Acres,Beverly Hillbillies and Hee Haw were removed by TV execs as they did not like promoting rural life and ethics. Now diversity is compromising talent and makes Richard Dreyfuss want to vomit.

You're overanalyzing everything, this was just a light-hearted show that, actually, everyone could relate to, it wasn't that far-fetched for back then. I will agree that Elly May being a pharmacist was a big deal back then, because that was specifically a man's job, but Helen Krump being a teacher was not out of the norm, teachers were all women back then, it's women taking care of children, just like in the home. -- This was a small town, and it depicted small towns very well, with a very low crime rate which weren't violent, so Andy likely wouldn't need a gun. This show didn't surprise people back then. And, it was just good entertainment, not like the trash they have now. And, Barney wasn't being too pushy or too risque for today's times, like you're trying to insinuate, nowadays they show people in bed together, and the sexual act with the people pretty much covered up, and more!... -- that's A LOT more than Barney calling Juanita a lot-- which IS what normal men do when they pursue a woman. -- I think you're kind of clueless, and you just need to stick to watching modern TV, with all it's violence, sex, and dirty language, which is now rated PG

Spot on. Everything you said, I wanted to say. Thank you for speaking for me so I don't have to. Lol.

And the big deal about Barney's mishaps with his gun. SO WHAT? I'm surprised they haven't made a video about the provocation of Elmer Fudd and Bugs Bunny. Or the 3 Stooges or Tom and Jerry.

This was an interesting video but it seems to be written by someone who is unfairly judging the shows content by modern standards.

True. That was the intended perspective. To contrast it with modern attitudes. Not a criticism of the show. Thanks for watching and commenting! 😊
