The “Inspire” perk is my favourite skill in BL-TPS for the sole reason of its sheer stupidity, and you can level up so quickly in that game through combat and side quests that honestly using one skill point to get some bad jokes was 10/10 worth it, since Jack is my favourite character ever and when I got frustrated it made me laugh.

@gardian06_85
@gardian06_85 4 жыл бұрын
@@imbored6724 that is easily debatable on a definition level, useless : has no use. the security skill has a use, therefore it is not useless. this is without mentioning that in some situations if you used bash instead of security the given faction may turn hostile to you. and not to mention if the skill was completely useless then you wouldn't even want a secondary character to have, or to increase it on that secondary character if it was "completely useless" saying a skill is useless because you don't want to put the main character's points into it does not work out, as in some games there are skill the main character cannot get, but are still highly useful.
@Cooleepable
@Cooleepable 4 жыл бұрын
@@gardian06_85 Agree. Most of the stuff in this video I would classify as "Functionally Useless" as in, yes it works, and it has a use, but it comes up so seldom or it's not having the magnitude of effect it should, so it's arguably not worth the investment, like swimming in Deus Ex and most of the others mentioned. To be completely useless, it needs to be a) completely unnecessary or b)completely broken (or both like V.A.N.S. is). If you can use it and it works more or less as advertised, it's not useless. The rest depends on your build and how you want to play the game. It also Depends on the Game itself, I might add. If you played a rogue in KOTOR, especially with high INT, if I recall, you got a boatload of skill points every level, so why not splurge a bit, worst case scenario, it'll avoid having to swap out party members all the time. If you're playing a Soldier who gets much less (and it's not a class skill anyway), sure, skip it and load up an NPC with that skill, either way it's not useless.

I seem to remember the same, but I think it was only for non-critical path stuff, bonus loot, quicker way through the area, etc... Jules! Here’s an idea. How about Top Ten Games That Became Cult Classics? I know there have been similar videos, but I’m talking about games like Rogue Galaxy and Psi Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy that have definite cult followings but we’re released alongside other great games or were released near the end of the PS2’s era. Keep up the great work!

Sorry, but I am going to have to somewhat disagree with your assessment on Fortification in the Mass Effect series: - You are correct that that Fortification is terrible in Mass Effect 2. Barrier and Geth Shield Boost are better. - You are INCORRECT that Fortification is bad in Mass Effect 3. Allow me to explain. Fortification in Mass Effect 3: - Has a higher Damage Reduction stat (up to +40%) than Barrier and Defense Matrix (up to +30%) with all the defense evolutions. - Has a higher power damage stat (+30% ALL power damage) than either Barrier (+25%) and Defense Matrix (+25% tech only). So you can just activate it and leave it activated for more power damage and damage reduction. On Insanity difficulty, Infiltrator requires Fortification to one-shot most shielded enemies with the Javelin sniper rifle. (Cannot do it with the Widow or Mantis; can do it with DLC weapon Kirshock sniper rifle). I agree that ME3 Fortification's purge utility (more melee damage) is not that useful, but you are rarely -- if ever -- using the purge ability of Barrier (some damage and make health-only enemies float very a very short duration), Defense Matrix (restore shields), or even Tech Armor (damage in a radius). - Defense Matrix has the most useful purge ability, but if you want the tech damage bonus, you want to keep it activated at all times, but Fortification has better damage bonuses + damage reduction bonuses. I would only use Defense Matrix if you want the shield restore benefits of purge. - Barrier's purge ability is not that useful on higher difficulties. I play mostly Insanity, and it is near impossible to purge Barrier to make enemies float, then detonate them with your own biotic abilities such as throw (I have never managed it). As such, Barrier is the worst of the defensive abilities. - Tech Armor is Sentinel-only, so you just use it instead of Fortification/Barrier/Defense Matrix... unless you decide to stack bonuses in which case Tech Armor + Fortification is great for more power damage and damage reduction. It also should be noted that you take +40% more damage when out of cover, so Fortification with max damage reduction will mean you take normal damage when out of cover, compared to +10% damage with Barrier and Defense Matrix. And yes I have sunk hundreds of hours into Mass Effect. Why do you ask?

Cheers, Jules. May I humbly suggest 10 mini games that totally derailed main game progress. Acquisition of the suit that allows one to cheat at poker in RDR1 totally turned that game into a poker simulator for me. I was still on MacFarlane ranch missions with like $30k. And I imagine many people have a card game problem in Witcher 3

The lock picking skill in Skyrim has it's uses later in the game. Not for lock picking, but for leveling up skill trees for the points. You will, like with sneak, max out then reset with the legendary feature and away you go again. This helps in the later game as enemies are leveled up to your range, so resetting combat skills makes the game much harder. You will find that if you want a level higher than 75 you will be using all those easy to rank up skills.

I disagree with number 1. In 3, you can upgrade fortification to increase power damage. It's really powerful when using fortification as a soldier class while using incendiary ammo that has the explosive rounds upgrade.

The top-level Lockpicking and Hacking perks in Fallout 4 are wastes of perk points as well. By the time you can get Lockpicking 4 (your bobby pins don't break anymore), you're up to your eyeballs in bobby pins. Hacking 4 prevents you from getting locked out of terminals, but you only have to wait ten seconds before it resets and you can try again, so it feels like a holdover from 3 and NV, when terminals locked out permanently if you failed.

2 Critical errors Skyrim: Extra carry weight for non-alchemy buffed characters is nice. Less traveling to sell inventories full of ebony gear. Also, maxing out certain skills can take a few seconds at most, legendary that skill, repeat. Skill points are not a rare commodity in Skyrim, so while this particular skill tree may be lackluster, it's certainly not a waste Dragon Age: Origins. As someone who has beaten every DA game on NM solo (and with all trials activated in DA:I)... I can tell you that Constitution is unequivocally NECESSARY. Yes, maxing out dexterity CAN make you nearly impossible to hit via physical attack. However... there are unblockable, undodgeable attacks in the game. Try walking into Sir Cauthrien on NM with no health pool (resistance route). AND if you go by the way of maxing dexterity on your character, even with certain combinations of defense/armor/magic damage reduction... without HIGH armor, an ogre grabbing you hits hard. Arcane warriors can tank anything naturally, rogues can stun to some extent... but you WILL at some point get grabbed. And... dragons. To say nothing of the Children and animals spamming "overwhelm" Constitution. Is. Fundamentally. NECESSARY. Unless you feel like spamming salves, potions, and duping stat books lol.

The most insulting thing in KOTOR is that using lightsaber to bash open is FASTER than lockpicking. But yeah, in second game using security means you pick up items without some of them getting destroyed. They made bashing destroy loot for that... Plus in first game, you have Mission and T3M4 for all lockpicking needs anyway.

Re: Security in KOTOR, the reason to not invest in Security is that so many companions have it, so you can always use it anyway, if you choose the relevant companions. Also, Bioware didn't make KotOR 2, Obsidian did. Bonus fact: Bioware also Neverwinter Nights 1 and then Obsidian also made it's sequel, Neverwinter Nights 2.

You're wrong Jules. The only games on this list I've actually played is Skyrim and Fallout 4 and I never once put points in Lockpicking because it was obvious from the get go it was pointless. Morrowind and Oblivion had it right. If you don't have a high enough picking skill you can't pick certain locks. Turning it a minigame with no level requirement made investing in it utterly pointless. I don't even remember what the Fallout 4 skill was for because I literally NEVER used that ability in the first place lol. 200 hours in that game, never once used it.

The xp boost skill in fallout 3 , you hit the level cap of 20 (without the dlc that imcreases it to 30) so early it makes you rethink that you could have got a skill that actualy enhances your character instead of just limiting how powerful you can become, at least the handsome jack skill can be reset , this is permanent

My Suggestion is the Traveler Ability, in any Final Fantasy Game it is in, but especially in Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age where it is called a Technick. The problem with Traveler is that it does Damage based on how many Steps you have taken in Game, however usually it takes so many Steps before it becomes Powerful that you'd basically have to just run around and around to ever power it up. It still might sound good to you, since it sounds like it could just keep getting stronger and stronger, right?? However, it's not true. It has a Damage Cap and even a Step Cap. After you take enough Steps, you don't have to keep doing it to power it up even more, as it will be the most Powerful it can be... also, you'll find that unless you do all the walking you need to do to power it up right when you get... and as soon as you could possibly get it and use it, that your Normal Attacks with still totes outmatch it in Damage. And even if you do do that, and it's stronger than your Normal Attacks, your Normal Attacks will totes surpass it very quickly... unless the Character is a Pure Mage Type Character, but if you have Attacking Spells, those will always be stronger and that's what you should be using... and if a White Mage then they don't ever need to be Attacking because that's not what they are there for. So, Traveler is basically completely Useless, lol.
