Had my controller for about 5 years, when I opened it up it was pretty clean. I used a small long flat head screw driver , alcohol and Q tips, went as far as opening the doors ,taking the discs out , brushing and assembled . I did not use any paper though and it works great now , impressed , thank you.

@@HowToXHello, I know this is an old video but what kind of glue would you recommend if I removed the soft parts for under the buttons? I removed them thinking that I could clean them, I did clean them but now it's a hassle to put the soft pieces back on without them falling off and or not being in place properly

I bought a refurbished Switch afterglow controller. Turns out it was drifting and the seller sent me a refund and told me to keep it. I had nothing to lose, so I disassemled it (it's clear it had never been opened) and lifted up the small metal part of the disc inside the little box. It fixed the issue, thank you very much!!! :)

I may end up having to try one of these methods. My Pro Controller (which I bought about a year after I bought my first Switch) just started to drift. The irony is that I bought it because the Joy-Cons were drifting. But I did manage to replace the joysticks on those, so in the meantime, I can always use those in the event that I need to replace the joysticks on my Pro Controller.

After goin' inside my Mario Bros. 3 pro controller, I've concluded that the main issue is the mechanism for the left analog stick being stiffer--it springs back with significantly less force than the right analog stick mechanism, which immediately snaps back to center after bein' let go. It also seems to be clean in there, so I doubt any more cleaning will fix this problem. :C

Can you feel the button 'click' when you press it? if not, there may be a piecen of dirt between the button and ths contact. dissasemble and clean manually with conpressed air or alcohol. be sure it is COMPLETELY dry before turning back on. recommend testing button before reassembly. Best of Luck!
