I’d like to see some content on how to do French aesthetic when you’re curvy. I love a white button up in theory, but I seem to only have the option of looking bigger than I am or having buttons pop. I may need to learn how to tailor my own clothes to keep in a budget 😅
@SashaInTheCloud4 ай бұрын
Find a tailor. Get bigger clothes by one size, and get them tailored. Or, I strongly suggest to learn to hand sew. No machine required. It is easy to listen to a podcast or some nice music, or talk to your loved ones ❤ while you make the horrible fitting clothes into AMAZING clothes with an hour or two. Yes, it is labor. But you will be amazed by how fast you will get, and how good you will get at making yourself look incredible 🎉
@SashaInTheCloud4 ай бұрын
I want to add: The most expensive stitches and ALSO the most durable stitches are all only able to be done by hand ❤ You can also repair clothes, and eventually make your own clothes which will last through your body's phases... because you know how much space your body needs to adjust through day and month and year ❤
@SashaInTheCloud4 ай бұрын
Tip to make clothes look elegant: hide stitches, even on the inside, or turn them into an (under)stated classic element: - jean stitching - the many artistic styles of repairing and strenghthening garments via strong natural thread (try to do this with cultural respect and appreciation ❤) - gentle and story-matched embroidery with natural and fabric-matching threads along seams and hems can either accentuate or hide the seam, while making it plain that it was done by hand, as pre-stitched embroidery at a seam or hem is easily botched on a machine 😊 - lined garments hide many seams, which are pressed down, and can be stitched into the seam fabric such that the lining never has visible seams!
@SashaInTheCloud4 ай бұрын
You can hide extra fabric of both the outer fabric AND the lining to allow your curves to change. Many stitches that are EASY PEASY to take out with a single pull can be put into a lining to close it. They can be undone and redone in a few minutes, and secured with an extra row of stitches in places that feel tight or get a lot of movement, like elbows. You let the outer layer of stitches pop and leave more secure inner stitches (which are actually allowing more fabric to move) stay in place. This will let you stay covered despite feeling the popping stitches, which tell you that you need to let your clothes out to accommodate you. I don't have too many curves, but I have some hardcore swelling issues. I feel at least some of your pain, and wanted to let you know that there's a way to keep your fitted look without fear of one swollen PMS day, or drinking too much water/eating too much food will expose you! Your seams can let you pop loose without opening your fabric! Just don't do the POP seams in stronger fibers than your fabric!!! they should pop EASILY! They are meant to tell you where you need to change something for your security 😅

I think it also depends on skin color and ethnicity as well. I'm sure those 'cheap' dresses you're modeling will look cute and expensive on a korean or filipino lady with a petite figure and youthful outlook. On a caucasian woman, yes, I agree they look almost comical.
@mehitabel65644 ай бұрын
I'm afraid those cheap examples will not look good on anyone regardless of skin colour and ethnicity. Also 'cute' is definitely not expensive. On small children and kittens yes, on grown women no.

Ignore replies from people who do not travel much. Gamine cuteness can look high class on women with certain structure. Classic Classy looks are not meant for every bone structure and skin color, and they are not going to translate for every culture. This video is from a Western European perspective, and is about High Class looks for the Classic European women... mostly, with some elements that work for nearly everyone. It is well done! But you cannot ignore who you are, how you are shaped, and what environment you are in when it comes to clothing. It is art, it is communication, and it is a tool. It is probably more!

I enjoy your lovely informative presentations and look forward to more in the future ... that cotton jeans fabric is called "denim" :) Women that refrain from wearing thongs and other revealing clothes that are embarrassing to see at the beach, that is about having dignity and self respect. I am shocked at the obscenely short shorts I see girls and young women wearing when with their parents... I wonder if there is some type of nefarious thing going on when parents have their children wear overly revealing clothes to be honest... when a young woman and adult woman exposes herself with her clothes / swimsuit I feel sad for them... If I could make one more suggestion, permit me to suggest replacing the phrase "to look expensive" with "to look classy." Jewelry, cars, or clothes "look expensive" yet in the English parlance, at least in American English, people "look classy"... in this insane woke culture that has infected the West, I won't go into the connotations of "looking expensive" might generate among the imbalance of which there are too many ....

I heard 'old money' at least 20 times! I'm Canadian and we have no 'old money' here. We are a relatively new country. I would rather look like 'new money'. Why would I respect someone who has inherited money and their biggest accomplishment is spending it? I would rather look like an individual who has intelligently navigated the business world and become successful in their lifetime.
@debrawright91953 ай бұрын
I think she is referring to 'old money aesthetic' as a fashion trend here. Also known as 'quiet luxury'. The style can be achieved by emulating expensive brands but by shopping at less expensive shops.
@johannajumeletaitken18163 ай бұрын
This expression ‘old money’ is misleading in some connotations (inherited money) but simply means a way to present your style as non trend-following or ‘fashion’ but instead is ‘timeless’ ‘classic’ ‘quality’ ‘elegant’ …not far from what you describe as your preference, and so can be applicable in most modern cultures. 💫
@emilymln47793 ай бұрын
“New money” here in the US has the connotation of someone who recently acquired money and is desperate to show it, so they buy things simply because they are expensive without any sense of style. I’m sure there must be the same connotation in Canada too! Understood in that way, “old money” makes sense as a style term-thoughtful, put together, and timeless, as opposed to rushed and trendy.

In style or out of style is only what the fashion world tells us and the shops want to keep selling new collections so it changes a lot. Same with cargo pants for example. They were very in style but DEFINITELY not old money aesthetics. Not a classic style. To me (almost) skinny pants, so not stretching around the leg but just barely touching the skin, will always stay in fashion. Wide leg pants can also be fashionable and classy but then again, you need a classic cut and fabric. Unlike lots of the wide pants that are being sold in stores. They only make your figure look worse.

I've watched a few of your videos and I've noticed you focus on clothes and accessories, you have talked about the way makeup and nails should look, but I've not seen you paying attention to the hair part or the skin; maybe I missed it. Those two deserve their own video. A sensible skin care routine and hair care routine should be included to complement the look of elegance. Forgive me for what I'm going to say, but your hair looks dry and unkempt, it seems like you focus on twisting the ends to form a curl, but the mid to roots look extra dry and frizzy, and those two disturb the harmony of the image of elegance that you're trying to project.
