The tendency for this issue is to see it in a negative, shame-inducing light. If you’re able to change your perspective to see it as an opportunity to live life with the dignity and respect that Dr. Trish is talking about, you will dramatically change your results. We all deserve to treat ourselves with respect, and not experience the inner shame and turmoil of addiction.

So in summary: 1st Step (3:05) : Start building self-awareness. 2nd Step (3:32) : Transition from seeing body parts to a whole person instead. 3rd Step (5:23) : Establish eye contact. 4th Step (5:40) : If dopamine flow starts, give yourself ONE LONG breath. 5th Step (6:32) : Bring yourself down to reality. 6th Step (7:12) : Stay vigilant on the life that you are creating. 7th Step (8:29) : Stay OFF the slippery slope (the danger zone). 8th Step (9:42) : Get into a group (externalise and talk about it). 9th Step (10:42) : Stay 100% COMMITTED. 10th Step(11:20) : Get a coach. AWESOME video, thank you so MUCH Dr. Trish !!

It's not just porn either it's media in general society teaches lust even to children... The jezebel spirit is real and I see these little girls wearing clothes that they most certainly should not be wearing... We are partially accountable for the thoughts we provoke and thoughts are powerful this is one of the biggest issues with society

Lust takes practice so in the same way since you have been practicing for so long it's second nature we can also practice saying no to those thoughts.... Practice makes perfect I was addicted to heroin for many years and went to lust for that same feeling only to find that it was as if not more toxic then the heroin... But like heroin it takes time and trial and error to quite because we are all different and we all need to do things the way we need to do them that suits us

@@jasonwilliams8321 There's a difference between lusting and being genuinely attracted and engaging with them, which leads to being together and having kids. This video is purely about our sexual addiction and lust when we see someone only in a sexual light.
@jasonwilliams83212 жыл бұрын
@@chrismccaffrey8256 I agree with you you. What I take issue with is the stupidity of the statement made by Billy Graham which aims to throw a guilt trip on every one dealing with our natural God given gift of sexual attraction. Historically in its teachings the church has always tried to divorce marriage from the sexual attraction aspect. There are some people who can start out with little to no attraction to someone and develop it over time. To others like myself it is an on or off switch. It’s either there or it’s not. Part of the problem is that the church is never quite clear on just what lust actually constitutes. When Christ said that when a man looks upon a woman lustfully he has already committed adulatory in his heart, taken literally would implicate every man whoever walked the face of the earth in that at some point in our relationships we will be considering them as future sexual partners.

Its a huge step to see that you do not automatically have to be victimized by lust, it can be controlled. Staying off that slippery slope aint easy for me though. I never acted out on it but mentally it controlled me . As a Christian , the shame sometimes was overwhelming. After listening to a few of your videos , I realized even after all this time , it can be defeated . I have prayed for these chains that bind be broken and allow me to be set free! My Lord has done that and I’m thankful. I just want to thank you for helping me to see how harmful and detrimental it is to a person. It changed me, I wasn’t the person I knew I should be, I wasn’t the person people thought I was . That’s over , It’s still a struggle from time to time , but I want to see women as another human being going thru life just like myself. A persons thought life is very powerful! Thank you so much!

Your hitting exactly more my issue than porn. I got rid of any type of porn 20 years ago. This has still been my battle and I know it all stems from being sexually abused all of my teenage years. He rewired my brain from a normal teenager to a sex addict. This is exactly the advice I need to hear and apply and I’m going to. It is a process, one day at a time, even down to one situation at a time. Every time you turn away is a little victory. I live in the north where it’s cold half the year and everyone is wearing more clothes. The tough time is summer. I live just blocks from one of the Great Lakes and like to walk down and try to enjoy it when weather is nice. But that is when women are wearing the least clothing. My goal is to still go there and test myself to see if I pass. If I struggle, then I guess I never go to the beach again. This really sucks, I hate this battle. But at the same time I’m determined to beat it because I do want to be a person of integrity. Thank you so much again Dr. for this life changing video 😢

The brain lights up, Dr. Trish, as the "one ring (the dopamine circle) to bind them all" of Sauron. Frodo feels anxiety with the ring in his pocket as he goes through the world towards Mordor to get rid of it in Mount Doom. So that is when he looks at it to get consolation and that is when Saurons eye spots him. The ring lights up in his eye, in his brain and in Saurons eye. When i feel a worldly lusttrigger, i go "oh, oh, the ring lights up" in three places at least. I remember the whole symbolic of the ring narrative, and it puts me on the alert, towards my brain/flesh, towards the world that triggers, towards "Sauron" who searches me out now. Most helpful narrative to live in. The ring lights up IN the brain....😂 This was some very helpful real good advice, dear doctor. May deer always greet you.

Yeah so, 1. Eventually I'll have the freedom to live alone out in the middle of nowhere without this danger, 8. maybe an online text only group could help if I could find one, 9. meh, 10. sounds like a bad idea to pay for something I'm not motivated enough to want to fix in the first place, even if I get to use text only. Easier to get nowhere by being depressed on the internet binging "educational" youtube vids and vent with comments that are toxic enough that no one should bother reading them.

It has altered her personality and actions in unspeakable ways yet if I even mention it, she goes completely off the wall? How does a man deal with a woman porn/masturbation addict? She has classic ptsd/OCD symptoms yet vehemently denies any of it?

How would you relate all of this to what Jesus says in Matt. 5:27-28?

Absolutely… Lust vs Freedom.. I chose freedom… I’ll leave guilt, shame and self loathing for stronger men… I’m free… The biggest stumbling block was the one I didn’t want to let go of…. What a revelation this has been… great work Dr. thank you 🙏🏼 Stay out of strip clubs…. If you hang out at a barbershop 💈 long enough you’re gonna get a haircut…

The commercials/ ads that have popped up while watching this video have the absolute opposite purpose. Telling men how to flirt and be virile for younger women. Not that those things don't have their purpose within the correct boundaries, but the ads are obviously made to appeal to men's lust.

I think in order to break those habits, you have to, first of all, get DEAD SERIOUS about stopping them. In order to get there, you have to have a realization that this type of reality really hurts you in multiple ways and basically not partially but 100 percent detracts from the life that you want. Any addiction is a self-feeding mechanism, where patterns and even actual neuro connections have been established so without a painful withdrawal, there is no cure. I am talking about sexual addiction here. You have to establish a purpose and goals probably even before quitting; otherwise, it's easy to slide right back into it. Make an effort of developing new interests or stick with the search for interests rather than devolving into bad habits. It's a struggle in the beginning but it should get easier as you slowly change into a different person.

I think in order to break those habits, you have to, first of all, get DEAD SERI... No just dead. You can't stop what makes you a man. Or just a human. She should change her name to Chastity Belt.

People can "change into different people"? Sounds like perception altering reality and social engineering. That's sociopath stuff.

I am sorry about all your struggles. What are you talk about here is family dysfunction. As the mom of lots of kids I know how difficult it can be to help them through their stuff, but at the same time I never stop trying. I’m sorry your parents couldn’t do that for you. But… I am so glad that you were able to overcome it and are on your way back to rocking out your best life. Thanks for contributing here. I really appreciate it. I’m glad to be able to help you myself. 🙏🏻
