The ring of fire is literally fire down there. For me it felt like 20 curling irons in there burning as my baby's head and shoulders passed once out it stopped. But I felt everything. Maybe epidural numbs the Sensation but I felt intense burning as it stretched.

I had coupling with my 2nd baby (1st labor, unmedicated VBAC). I told my doula afterward that it felt like I was in one of those scenes in a movie where the person is running after a train, trying to grab on and pull up to safety. My water broke just after 1AM and ctx started about 10min later. From the start they were 2-3min apart, and she was born less than 5hrs later. She probably would have been born even sooner except she had her right hand on her left ear!

Hello hello! I am an RN in a different specialty, and I’m 5wks pregnant. Your videos deserve so many more views! You are the best labor and delivery educator I have found online yet, and I SO appreciate you sharing your wealth of knowledge and experience. I of course will develop a good, open relationship with my OB/GYN, but just know that your videos have been immensely helpful! I’ve watched over a dozen so far, and look forward to the rest of them. Thank you much!

Thank you so much for your videos and especially for this one. I was feeling nausea during my first labour. I didn’t know it was normal.

It’s because of you, your educational and informational videos and my amazing support team that I was able to have the unmedicated birth I dreamed of. Thank you so much for that ❤️

I wish I had watched this before having my first baby because I learned most of it the hard way. The night I went into labor, I woke up to “diarrhea” and felt the stomach cramps with it and thought I got it all out but was confused why I still was cramping. It took them getting more regular for me to realize I was really having contractions and started timing them. I also had terrible back labor and had her on a nerve in my hips. I was handling contractions well but I had to figure out the back and hip pain.

I was on gas and air and had been given something to calm down the intensity of my contractions. When i felt the ring, I just started whistling Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash to my husband

I had a home birth and when my water broke I got a sudden wave of nausea. It quickly went away, but half an hour later I started vomiting. That also didn't last long. I had castor oil that morning so there was no poop to poop, but it definitely felt like I was pooping 😮. I didn't experience the shakes but I couldn't fall asleep for 2 days (and not because baby wasn't sleeping). Thanks for putting this together, keep up the good work!

Hm. My provider instructed me to take slow, deep breaths during pushing to relax my pelvic floor and whereas she was out in about 3 contractions I did end up with a second degree tear :/ (not an emegent situation either) Those shakes get me every time, lol.

She was definitely coming FAST and I was doing the little pants until the provider told me to do the opposite 🤷‍♀️

Slow deep breaths in and out will do the same thing, but are often difficult to do with the intense urge to push many experience.

Wish people talked about trauma to the bladder during L&D. Had complications during my vbac and it was frustrating not finding information and similar experiences online

@@Nurse_zabe I just wanted to share in case anyone else has had a similar experience. It was incredibly isolating going through that and not getting solid answers from drs or finding helpful stories online. I even went back to my pregnancy books and couldn’t find information.

I was expecting back labor as that where the majority of my menstrual cramps always were. What I was not expecting was the cold electrical zap feeling in the front of my thighs with every contraction starting at about 6cm dilation.

Thank you so much for your education! Been watching you for a while. Do you know why my doctor would ask me to skip pushing every other contraction? I literally could only breathe… no pushing. It was hard! Thank you!
@Nurse_zabe
@Nurse_zabe 11 ай бұрын
Probably because baby was having some issues with their heart rate. Breathing through a contraction gives them time to recover!

In your experience, does perineal stretching really make a difference? I'm trying to do it but it's so uncomfortable!
@Nurse_zabe
@Nurse_zabe 11 ай бұрын
The studies show that it can help with reducing the risk of significant tearing, but people also don’t have significant tears who don’t do perineal stretching. If it’s causing you a lot of discomfort and maybe that’s some thing that does not feel good and right for you. And that’s OK! Or maybe you play around with how you’re doing it (introducing a wand), timing (after a warm bath), etc. It also might not be a bad idea to see a pelvic floor pt and have them help figure out a plan that is best for your body!
