Another one I’d add is The Beatles releasing Now And Then, which was their first “new “song since Free As A Bird and Real Love from the Anthology sessions during the mid ‘90s (the song would’ve been included on those albums but the recording of John Lennon that they used wasn’t that great so they scrapped it for a long time until Paul McCartney decided to resurrect it this year). The Beatles were the very first band I heavily got into back when I was 10 years old (I’m 24 now) and a big reason why I wanted to pursue music and play guitar (George Harrison being my first major influence alongside Eddie Van Halen and David Gilmour) so I was absolutely floored upon hearing the song for the first time, it’s an absolutely beautiful composition and a great way to truly end their musical career imo

@@TheLarryburns84 Nice, Ringo is definitely one of the GOATs when it comes to drumming and while people have said that he’s just decent at best or never did anything technical there are still a lot of small details that made him such a unique player (a big one being the fact that he’s a left-handed drummer playing a right-handed kit so he starts his fills with his left hand, which as a righty is definitely not easy to do)

I would've added Kiss's final show, where they announced the band would technically keep going as digital avatars. The show wasn't even anything special up to that point either, no mention of past members like Eric Carr or special songs played, and not even much appreciation for longtime fans at it. They had the Empire State Building lit up in Kiss imagery for the occasion just to build up what amounted to a commercial. In a way, it's the mist Kiss-like way they could've possibly gone out

The Rammstein ordeal was indeed wild. I had bought tickets for their 2023 tour back in 2022 and was super-hyped that they were coming to Switzerland again. But then this mess came up... and while I can't say I was unaffected by the whole whirlwind, I still hoped their concert wouldn't get canceled, because their live shows are amazing. Lots of folks were asking if I'd still go to the concert, and yes, I did. And didn't regret it - epic, just like back in 2022. I still listen to their music, because I'm separating the behavior of the people (well, in this case: person) behind the music, and the art they created. I just hate how the media instantly behaved as if everything was a fact without any tangible proof...

On the topic of bands breaking up...noise rock band Sprain announcing their breakup with a terse Instagram post almost immediately after releasing a 90-minute album, without any warning beforehand, definitely sticks out to me among this year's strangest events. Justin Sane being a rapist was up there in craziest things to ever happen in the music industry. To me, it's second only to Kanye West becoming a fan of World War II Germany. I think "creepy behavior", "trying to hook up with me", "kept flirting with me", anything with an age gap as long as it was consensual adults, or any allegations/accusations are dumb, but Justin Sane clearly went above that threshold if his allegations are true. I both expect and hope that any musicians that put their hands on others or crossed the line of forcing themselves on women are brought to justice. Big music stars are always going to have creepy or weird moments, but actually putting their hands on others when they don't want to be touched is just downright awful.

The two glaring issues I've been personally hit by was the Rammstein one, first off. It goes back to the issue that has been discussed before - do I or don't I continue to listen to this band's material because of what is going on with them outside of music? It's difficult, especially with Rammstein. It was easy with Marilyn Manson because of the mountain of controversy that guy has piled up in his closet to begin with. I don't know with Rammstein, so I ended up shelving them for now. The other one is Anti-Flag and I recently had to break the news to a dear friend who loved this band and had seen them live recently in their home state. They were heartbroken at first, but understood that when shit hits the fan, you've got to move on from it. Well if sexual allegations is the white hot torpedo that's been nailing bands, can't wait for 2024 where things get heavily political. Joy...

it really is tough, especially when it is 1 member not the whole band. There are a few bands that I have struggled with after finding out a few things about their past... some are binned and gone, some are sticking around but certainly less shine on them. I think (for me at least) it depends on how defining they are for music in general or just for me.
@frozyre7854 Жыл бұрын
@@mattyt1961 Oh for sure. Till Lindemann is synonymous with Rammstein, he's the most recognizable and prominent of the members. It's hard to revisit some bands knowing that the frontrunner appears to be the problem for the band. That's the part. If it was any other member of the band, when the overall band has proven to be better with or without them, then yeah we just move on from it. The best example I can think of is Megadeth, when Dave Mustaine told David Ellefson to get out of the bad for numerous issues. Ellefson might've been one of the original members that went through the band's highs and lows. But he's not the entire band, when people think Megadeth, they immediately associate it with Dave Mustaine and it would be an entirely different story if it was Dave Mustaine himself being ousted out of a band with a 40 year long career.

@diskyboy86 Жыл бұрын
Till Lindemann really has fallen from grace. Going from one of the most handsome men in rock to one of the ugliest has to suck, but it doesn't has to be this way, look at Rick Springfield for example, 74 and still looking great. Lindemann is 14 years younger, yet looks like that creepy uncle that everyone just kinda tolerates and tries to ignore at family gatherings. My guess is that due to the sharp decline to his attractiveness levels, women are no longer throwing themselves at Till like they used to, so now he's getting desperate, and as a Rammstein fan myself, it's just kinda pathetic. To clarify, I don't think Till has done anything illegal, but sometimes what is legal is not always good and that seems to be the case with Till. His methods of "recruiting" women are just pathetic. He's a millionaire, how about he just pays them to get what he wants! At the very least, I'm glad to see Till at least managed to escape the allegations which likely were false in many ways, but I still feel he has a far way to go to really fix that reputation as being a creeper now, and I'm just not sure if he can do it. Rammstein has been together for 29 years, they're goanna end sooner or later and it's likely goanna be because of Till. At this rate, I'm doubtful if Rammstein will make it past 2030. Everyone still seems healthy, but Till's suspicious behavior might came back to bite him in the not so distant future. I still have respect for everyone in Rammstein and hope the best for the band going forward, but I'm skeptical to say the least.
