I think a lot of focus is put on the lip syncing. However one of the main reasons that the mouths look wrong is subconscious. What the babies were saying had no relation to their facial expressions or gestures. No matter what they did with the speech, if you have a baby saying how scared it is... But has a happy face and gestures it's going to look wrong. (Acting isn't just about what you do with your mouth)

Hot take! Sutekh reveal was bad. I’ve been a massive doctor who fan for 14 years, and it meant nothing to me. It went off nothing previously established and he ended up being bland and uninteresting. He is evil and likes to kill so kills everyone. That’s it. Not interesting to me at all. Susan however being the doctor’s granddaughter, that’s very interesting.
@JohnAlzayat20 сағат бұрын
You forgot to mention Sutekh supposedly latching onto the Tardis back in the 4th's lifetime when 11,12 AND 13 all would have felt something back then. Heck we had a SPEAKING TARDIS during 11's time and she didn't say anything about it. She wouldn't stop talking she definitely would have said something. Or when the weird ghost thing tried to possess the actual police box in the same episode Sutekh could have and would have slapped it out instantly.
@Domihork18 сағат бұрын
I honestly don't get why Sutekh couldn't have latched onto the TARDIS at the edge of the universe in the 60th anniversary. And it still would have worked with him being present in a large portion of the universe because the TARDIS travelled from the edge to somewhere in the middle.
@milesunsworth636516 сағат бұрын
@@Domihorkbetter yet, he latched on to the Tardis on the night of Christmas Eve 2004 when the Doctor saved baby Ruby from the goblins creating a scenario where the solution to the Sutekh problem may be undoing that - restoring the miserable timeline we saw for a moment in Church on Ruby Road. Because we know the Doctor will reboot and save the universe at the end, so why not make the tension of the episode about HOW he'll do it. Then when he can do it without sacrificing Ruby, it's actually satisfying. Could also explain away the snow and inconclusive scans and Maestro's fear by saying she's a space time anomoly/aberration.
@ZOLTAR43614 сағат бұрын
@@Domihork this is what I wanted to happen especially because in a doctor who comic which had Sutek in it, he moved sideways in his time vortex tunnel that the 4th doctor trapped him in. And when he stepped out the vortex sideways he was at the edge of the universe, The Same place that the doctor and Donna were in the 60th special so they could have said Sutekh sensed the tardis and moved sideways and latched onto it from there. PLUS the tardis made that groaning noise in wild blue yonder meaning Sutekh was there latched onto That tardis.

I didn't mind Ruby's mother being an ordinary human. But it could have been handled a lot better. One solution that's been suggested by several people I've heard/read is that some entity had interfered with the *memory* of Ruby's mother. Thus, for instance, Louise Miller (the mother) didn't point -- and in "Church of Ruby Road" she actually didn't -- but the memory of the night was altered by some entity so that the VHS tape, the Time Window and even the Doctor's own memory would make it look as if she did. All this would create a false trail to mislead Sutekh and have him assign great importance to her, leading him on a wild goose chase and making it easier for the Doctor and Ruby to defeat him. The identity of the memory-altering entity could have been incorporated into the story -- making that entity (the Tardis? another god?) an ally of the Doctor; or it could have been left as an explicitly open question, to be resolved in the next season
@ZOLTAR43614 сағат бұрын
Mrs flood's name was on a list on the set of doctor who and she had a description about her and in the description it said that she was the god of stories / an ancient story teller which is why she can break the 4th wall. So maybe she has the power to alter peoples memory's because 'memorys are where stories go when they are forgotten' that is something that Peter capaldi's doctor said to Clara when he had forgotten her in that cafe that was also a tardis in hell bent. I rewatch the last two episodes of Doctor from this year and Mrs flood said 'oh I had such plans' meaning she was beginning with her plan so maybe she was the one altering the doctor's memory of that night as he said that the memory of Ruby's mum had changed.

Disney has pretty much run Star wars into the ground. Also the other issues where the doctor crying way to much which took away the impact of when it was meant to really mean something. Also Sutekh being sat on the tardis, so 12, 13, yaz and jack have sat on him. The amount of times the tardis has been destroyed, when house took over it.. Sutekh did nothing.... doesn't make sense. As for ruby’s mother pointing a a road sign the did say in the legand of ruby Sunday the memory was changing which does mean the pointing was still completely unnecessary cause nobody from the church saw her point to the sign anyway and I would say Russell’s return was a disaster cause he seemed to be more focused on being more focused on becoming the doctor universe version of Kevin Feige then giving us a coherent season

Folks at the church would eventually have seen the tape after the police were called in about the abandoned baby, and they all sat through it trying to figure out who left it there.
@michaelmcchesney664513 сағат бұрын
I'll say it again: they should have used my solution to the mystery of Ruby. My idea was that Ruby's mother would turn out to be (the best character) River Song. River would have discovered she was pregnant after her night on Darillium with Peter Capaldi, but before she went to the Library. To keep her baby safe, she left Ruby at the church because she trusted the Tardis to bring the Doctor to Ruby when she needed him. I was pretty sure my theory was wrong until I watched The Legend of Ruby Sunday. In that episode, the Doctor tells Kate that, even though he had a granddaughter, he hadn't had any children yet. How was that possible? Because Time Lords do things out of order. If Ruby was the Doctor's daughter, she could also be Susan's mother. Wouldn't that have been better than the resolution the show gave us?

Who the hell has the energy to be up and properly awake at that hour to watch a programme?? if I'm viewing I want to Remember what I've seen, not fall asleep half way through. Parents with young kids would have the same issue. As for CGI, it's been horrendous at times, bad CGI is never good and never as acceptable as the wobbly sets we used to have decades ago. Those are endearing to cringe but poor CGI is just dire and jarring. As for musicals within Doctor Who, please Don't!!!!!!!!!! They're horrific, disturbing and cringe of the worst kind.

I'm not so down on trying something different with the bi-generation - the show constantly renews itself, so why not try something different this time? But I have to agree with you - the Doctor(s) were instantly cool with it and knew exactly what it was and brushed it off 20 seconds later. Even if you're fine with the bi-generation concept, the execution was so off-hand and dismissive for something that uproots and changes established lore.

Thanks to John Barrowman's indiscretions, it seems unlikely now that they could ever use Captain Jack again, unfortunately. And it's such a stupid reason too, as the accusation seems to have been that John thought it was funny to frequently flash his genitals on set. To just whip his dick out and then act like nothing had happened. Which he thought was a hilarious practical joke or something. I perfectly get why you have to "cancel" someone who kept doing that, as it's highly inappropriate - and it could still be taken as threatening behaviour, even modifying for the fact that he's a gay man - but it just seems such a silly and pointless thing to be cancelled over. On John's part, I hasten to add. As I think the BBC simply had no choice but to "cancel" him, once they received complaints (and he had been told to stop doing it - a formal warning - beforehand). Their hands were tied, as you can't just overlook something like that and do nothing (he was known for doing this, so I think they tried to ignore it for as long as possible, but once there are formal complaints, you can't dismiss them out of hand). But, yeah, no Captain Jack - and, therefore, likely no Torchwood (as he was not only the central character but an immortal central character, so you can't just kill off his character to explain his absence, even if you tried to carry on with a new lead) - because of a dumb "joke" that really isn't funny to anyone but Barrowman himself.

As Ellie says in the video, The BBC and Disney are waiting to see the audience numbers for season 2 before deciding to do another. Gatwa mentioned season 3 filming on the Graham Norton show but the BBC edited that bit out implying that the deal with Disney is likely ending.

It's a British show, foreigners shouldn't have access to it before us as British taxpayers pay for the BBC. The final season of Superman and Lois isn't even on BBC iPlayer yet and it ended weeks ago on the CW.

It’s a great list Ellie! I was watching an RTD interview with BAFTA last night and he had referenced his time working with David and Nchuti but also made a promise to work with Eve Myles again 🙂 Torchwood reboot or link into the show or even a cameo in the War between the Land and the Sea?

As Ruby may have experienced dread in learning about her mother possibly being some kind of 'big cosmic thing', she could have ended up being the daughter of Incensor, the god of disaster, whose children are called Doubt and Dread. Maintaining the theme of the Pantheon.

I hope that after The War Between The Land and Sea we get a series wrapping up the storylines of Class, Torchwood and the Sarah Jane Adventures. The spinoff characters are some of the most fleshed out that the franchise has had. Another issue I have had is the contradictive narrative Russell has had (e.g. saying the Screwdriver design change was to avoid children enjoyed guns, only for Morris Gibbons to have a turret in his segway) and how underutilised UNIT was in the finale. It's not a new problem but a reoccurring one I'd hoped would change.

To be fair about the whole Whoniverse thing, it takes a very long time for anything to get done in show business. Every tv show and movies takes years from initial concept to broadcast to plan, fund, cast, find locations, organize hundreds of needed behind the scenes shenanigans, before it can be finally broadcast. This is why most animated shows such as The Simpsons avoid getting too topical, as by the time a script is written and produced the talking point is very old news. The only exception I know to this is South Park, due to its unique animation style. Plus, we all know how studious feel about franchises these days; they'll make plans for all sort of things, but will always wait to see how the first offering fares before giving any additional content the green light.

A great deal of the trouble with RTD 2 is what affected RTD1 - at least in the minds of fans: the 'Boosterism' of Russell T Davies. Because of his enthusiasm and his tendency to talk things up, which has served him well, many of the outcomes ultimately feel like a letdown. However, for those of us of a certain age, the fact that the franchise is even still around and vaguely continuous still feels like a Christmas miracle. I have to remind myself that this show was nearly killed off for good before I was even born. And I'm talking about the 1960s.

See I feel that the Ruby storyline is probably linked with Mrs Flood as though she has influenced the shaping of this story and that the resolution was instead a way to cover the reality.

Only in the UK market, not for international use. That’s why any Classic stories that use it either replace it with other music (where it’s just in the background) or remove the scene entirely (when the song *is* the scene itself) on foreign releases.

I disagree about Space Babies! I thought Empire Of Death was the worst episode of the series by a long way. It was just so packed full of anticlimax, plot holes, and borderline retcons that it was a bit of a non-episode. Also, the fact that Russell's neglect of past details meant that it killed off Rose and the metacrisis Doctor was low key unforgivable. At least space babies had a classic monster of the week vibe, plenty of (admittedly unearthed) chemistry between the Doctor and Ruby, and The Doctor gets to really show off a softer paternal side he hasn't shown much before. Lots to like.

This isn't entirely relevant to this video, but lately, I've been thinking about who could replace Ncuti. I know he's still new. I look forward to a long tenure with him. However, if they ever go the woman route again, I think Hannah Waddingham would be a perfect 16th Doctor. Does anyone agree?
