Great project! Looks like it runs pretty good. Not sure you were really looking for a high end speed anyways over functionality. The turning radius looks nice and tight too. I like it!
@BoondockingCajunstyle9 ай бұрын
No, I was not expecting anything on high speed. My goal was to use a predator 22hp and get it to run decent. It is definitely a fun little guy.

So for it has been good running and a blast to play with
That looks like it would be fun to play with but I think it would be better suited for your 10yr old son or grandson. It would be great for learning because you know they would try to run it where they can’t. Then they would learn how to get out of bad situations and stay out of places the boat doesn’t belong. Great learning boat. Any kid would love that. You did a great job building it. When I did the bottom of my boat, we did it in white so that you can later see the wear spots easier. 👍

It's definitely a fun little boat. I think with a kid in the boat, it would get in a lot of places. The boat does better than I was expecting. 22mph deep water and 24 in shallow. With me and the Capt Dee.

On the next one I may go with a white under the black. It's a 3 step process, I can go black on the first primer then white on the second step and finish black.

@@BoondockingCajunstyle oh definitely. My 200+lb ass could have fun with it too. I think that would be great for a airboater's kid to learn. When I built my 2nd boat, I taught my 10yr old son to run the boat just incase something happened to me and he could get us too safety. I don't have one anymore and really miss it.
@BoondockingCajunstyle5 ай бұрын
@gregphillips1998 that is awesome that you took the time to teach your son. So many youngsters today would not last a day, in a bad situation.

@@BoondockingCajunstyle I did explain it correctly but what you said is correct. That’s what I did. The first coat was white and the second coat I did forest green. I did the sides and rudders with a camo wrap material. Looked great and was more durable than I thought it would’ve been. Good luck with that boat and have fun.

I'm in Tallahassee fl and our river is full of tree falls and very low water levels. I have had larger air boats when i lived in southeast Florida with v8 power. I'm seriouly thinking on a jon boat air or mud motor powered. We have both river and Lake Jackson with deep to drag your outboard prop area's.

The first run I had a hard time getting on step with 2 people, it would only get on plane in shallow water. A small 3" adjustment with all of the weight did the trick. 22mph. My boat is 63.5" across the bottom. I'm sure it would do on anything narrower. One person may be ok.

What mph are you getting with it? Im doing the exqct same build but with a 9x7 ft hull.

The next time I take it out I will get a GPS speed. Guessing 20-25mph

I was going to do one of these from wood. But I like the aluminum better after seeing yours. I think it would be easier to build too! Where did you get your runners at???
@BoondockingCajunstyle6 ай бұрын
The runners are "hat section" extrusion. I get my aluminum from local suppliers.
@doesntmatter30686 ай бұрын
@@BoondockingCajunstyle I am looking into that now, thanks for the quick reply!!

It is also hat channel. It is some really strong material for the weight

@@BoondockingCajunstyle Yes, I had a hard finding THAT out! Can't find it locally. Shipping would cost a fortune. Can Drive to pick up if not across the country, I live right in the middle/Midwest. Also was looking for a used aluminum hull only, Never could find a descent one out there without cutting off my leg to pay for it. Ill keep looking! Thank for the your input! ( ͡❛ ͜ʖ ͡❛)✌

How did you get the sides bent like that
@BoondockingCajunstyle4 ай бұрын
I made a template for the bends that I wanted. The supplier has a break large enough to make all of the bends. When working with the thinner material, I recommend bending over welding where possible.

wondering about harmonic vibration from the v twin.the 35 vanguard I had was terrible at low to mid rpm
@BoondockingCajunstyle7 ай бұрын
I'm not seeing it to be a big problem yet. Later after running for several hours I will look to see if any welds or plate is experiencing any problem of cracking or breaking. Airboats naturally have vibration

What is wet lander
@BoondockingCajunstyleАй бұрын
Wetlander is a slick coat that is painted onto the bottom of the hull. It's supposed to help protect the bottom and helps it to slide over things.
