i hate doing burpees but i also absolutely love them. Even doing 5 or 10 will make your heart beat skyrocket. thx for the motivation man

Class video mate, have never seen these done before and after watching you definately have my utmost respect. On their own Burpees are a fantastic killer workout so under that t-shirt im thinking there is a big 'S'. Keep up the good work and stay strong!

Your video inspired me to attempt this myself. I tried this for the first time a couple of months ago, and did it in 18:30. Every week I make an attempt and have always been improving. This week I managed 14:02. I found as soon as I started incorporating running into my routine I had the cardio to really make improvements. Thanks for posting this video. PS. To anyone making their first attempt, you will suffer like never before!

And you are right about lower body exercises, because the main trouble i have with burpees is that my legs are the first part of the body to give up, there's this leg pain that does not allow me to go beyond 3 rounds of tabata burpees.

Thanks! No joint stress.. Each individual must train according to their fitness level and current health. I use variations of the burpee with most of my clients.

Good job man! For me, it took a couple of years to get used to bur-pees alone, and then adjusted to pull ups easy it in. Bur-pees+pull ups are pretty easy by then I can do 3 sets of 10, then increasing it slowly in time to also 100 in around 20 minutes average. So now its a routine exercise at least 2 times a week its a great part of my workouts. But like anything else to get used to, its takes hard work to do these things and not everything comes easy to accomplish something. Great workout again! :)

Great job. For this workout, do you gradually build up to this point, or do you always do 100 burpees and just try and beat your previous times?

I love this...its my favorite workout but damn you did it in a short time my friend....I plan on doing it today. However, im gonna add a squat in between as well and see how it goes....respect for a job well done!!

Do you typically do 10 with a brief break? I know I do bc I would die otherwise. Very impressive. I'm just getting through 3 sets of 10, but I do knees to chest for the jump since I don't have a pull-up bar. Great prison workout.

Yes, it is a great and simple workout. It does require some coordination but it will kick your azz in no time!

Yeah! That is the spirit! I saw a video of a crossfit guy doing these in a little over 10min and wanted to finish that workout once. Now my goal is to improve my time.

Beyond awesome!. I consider myself fit - but the max I can do these are 15. However hard I want to, I just cannot think of doing the 16th one. With enough practice, I can imagine myself setting a target of 25. But 100 is just insane.

When you do a pull up, make sure your body is straight when you're pulling yourself up.

Thanks man! I am just a normal guy with an abnormal interest in sports and training. I got inspired to try this from watching a crossfit guy do it in just over 10min! Now, that is almost twice as fast as me..

Do what ever feels most natural for you. I often find a spot in the right hight that I try to touch each time so I know I have to jump the same height on every burpee. Letting your hands hang down will save you a little energy but not much.

You become good at what you do.. Lat pull downs on a machine and dumbell rows does not neccecarily increase your pullup number.. Pullups is a skill just like every other movement.. The more you do it the better you become at it. Anyway, I hope everyone realize that the pullups I do in this routine can not be compared to dead hang pullups.. I jump hard and use the momentum of my jump to aid in my pullup. The sum of all the movements is what makes this challenge a killer.

@serialxkillerx No, I use the momentum of each jump to help the push up. The entire exercise is a continous movement, not isolated movements like many people think. The idea is full body conditioning, working mainly strength endurance and aerobic endurance.

@babbis13 Hello sir, can you help me figure out what in the world's wrong with me? Because I tried normal burpees, not even the one with pullup like you are doing and actually I was trying the tabata interval with burpee as chosen exercise and out of total 8 rounds I couldn't last even 5 rounds. Of total 4 minutes, I could manage barely upto 1:40 minute and max of close to 2:00. But it's just been 2 times I did it, one last week and one this week. Why am I not able to do full 8 rounds? Age's 20.

i like it! very efficient. three exercises in one. 1. push up, 2. explosive jump and 3. pull up. very nice. i think i'll start doing those.

I hate doing them too, but they're great. We have to do 30 of them as part of my judo warmup. We sprint down the mats, do 10 pushups, sprint again, do 10 situps, sprint again, do 10 squats, sprint again and finish with 10 burpees... and do that whole thing 3 times lol

Doing 100 dead-hang pullups would have easily tripled his overall time. The point of a workout like this is to generate the maximum amount of power. P = D/T. He's traveling the same distance on his pullup (chest to bar) and doing it faster (with the momentum gain) so he's generating more power. Dead-hang pullups have their place as well, of course, and they're definitely better than kipping in many aspects, but not in this type of workout.

This is a common comment from someone that has not tried this kind of workout. The point of this workout is to get a full body aerobic workout. It is not to preform 100 perfect burpees and dead hang pullups. You are supposed to make the sequence of movements as fluidly as possible. Have you ever seen or heard about someone doing 100 perfect dead hang pullups coupled with 100 perfect burpees in less then 20min? Try them. Upper and lower aerobic conditioning combined. Bjorn

I wonder if it's like on anchorman where the lady walks into Ron burgendys office and he's curling a weight and says "1253, 1254, 1255, oh Veronica...didn't see you come in!" the way it jumps from 50 to 95

@stamina360the jumping is part of the work out...thats the correct way to do it. if you have ever done these, you would kno that the jumping hes doing is actually extremely hard.

Very nice! Work on getting that time to 15 minutes! For you other guys complaining he's not doing the exercise right, well he actually is! This is supposed to be a full body exercise where you push up (chest), you jump up (legs) and you pull up (back) .. All in an explosive way... So yes, jumping is important and is part of the workout. That's why it says ''burpee'' pull up... Keep training hard!

Yes, as I have mentioned more then once here, I got inspired to test this workout after seeing Greg Amundsen from Crossfit do it in just over 10min.. 10:13 is a sick time man! Props!

@peeplzchamp Nope. Hes doing burpees. In this case hes pulling hes legs back so it looks like a push up but its a burpee. Maybe it has the same effect as a push up.

@ravi00090 If i may: the burpee or squat thrust though it looks easy, is based on three factors, as mentioned below condition of the body(how much is your body used to) secondly your weight( the more disproportionate( muscle(especially lean) vs more fat (bad)you are the more difficult it will be) finally , the most important, the burpee is a compound exercise which engages all major muscle groups(close to 90% of the muscles in your body) so you should be fit all round to even attempt it.

@OfficeThug Thank you brother, I think you are right about this being too much for a newbie. I will just prolly increase the rest time like you said. But doing this everyday is so damn difficult. And I don't intend to give up, I want to anyhow be able to do this, even though it may take a lot of time :)

He actually doesn't have much momentum at all going. And even if he had more momentum going its all good, this isn't some bodybuilding gym, this is about true functional strength, and using momentum is how your operate in real life. Stop judging things you know nothing about. Awesome babbis13, I'm gonna have to start adding in pull ups to my burpees!

@babbis13 mainly anaerobic endurance...but there is always aerobic endurance involved with stuff that takes a little longer thats true.
