ReeferGil Been crazy busy with work, kids, school, etc. Broke down my 140 when I moved and setup a 55 mixed reef that was fully stocked here at my current place but back in December when Hurricane Irma hit I lost it all and since then been just running it as a FOWLR with a few fish in it. That was a pretty big blow for me and discouraging.... Also kinda pressed for time to dedicate it the hobby but the love of it keeps me dabbling around with something lol. I still watch some of you all builds though

Almost FOT tank does not affected even by massive water change method. Yet, stable reef aquarium can be affected by water changing paremeters instead of using automated elements refilling system, which does not shock the corals, and avoid unstable conditions.

Mind sharing how you're tumbling your chaeto off your reactor? Getting ready to redo my manifold and love your setup!

I didnt do anything special. Just the flow itself causing it to tumble. Once chaeto grew, it no longer had space to tumble.

Seems like it’s a little bit of a pain to get those filter socks out because you have the drains going directly down into them. Is there an advantage to doing that over having the drains go into a separate compartment first and allowing the water to flow over a baffle into the socks?
@ReeferGil6 жыл бұрын
It is a pain. I like the compartment setup better. The only real advantage to doing it my way is that is saves a little space in the sump. Thanks for the question Weezy!

Hey do you think a yellow tang, kole yellow eye tang, and a some sort of bristletooth tang (two spot) would be compatible in a 125 gallon reef?
@ReeferGil6 жыл бұрын
It's always a risk, but I've seen it done. Bringing them all in at the same time seems to lessen the odds of aggression.
@IanB10156 жыл бұрын
Reefergil: where do you get your screen top for your tank? I have a tabletop reef that measures 18.5" x 11.5" and lost my last fish because it jumped.

This is the only thing holding me back from big tanks. All that plumbing and water changes are just to much for my place. For now nano tanks will have to do, but I'm limited on the fish I can keep.
@ReeferGil5 жыл бұрын
Nothing wrong with working with what you have. Nano tanks bring a reef indoors for relaxation and your enjoyment, in much the same way as a larger system.
