I love my optiplex 7050mt, it's an i5-7500 16gb of RAM and shite ton of SSD storage. Rocking a GT730 playing up to Xbox360 in 1080. I'm a happy papa

I worked on and sold one of these 7050 MTs on Jawa. You can properly fit an MSI RTX 3050 6gb Low Profile in it. Massive upgrade over the GT 730

If you want a huge but cheap upgrade, get an RX 550 Low Profile 4GB, it doesn't require external power, and plays most games 1080p mid-high settings 60-100fps.

My teenage son started his gaming experience with an optiplex 780 (I replaced the C2D with a C2Q and put an Gtx 650 in it - no extra power required.) Next was an optiplex 790 (i5 2500 4c/4t - replaced with a i5 2600 4c/8t ) and i also added a gtx 1050 and a ssd to it. Both computer i got for free, as my company would throw them into the trash. Minecraft, fortnite, gta v ran super, but modern games did not.

Got one of these for a friend's son, it's purely used as a school pc. It's a i7 4790, 16GB ram with a 1 TB ssd with my old 1050ti. It's running linux mint 22, works great.

Hey man - love this video. A good cheap xeon that would boost up the CPU a bit could be a xeon e3-1271 v3 (no integrated graphics) for around $20 or a similarly performing e3-1246 v3 (with integrated graphics) for about $17 or e3-1241 v3 (no integrated graphics) for about $15. I have used all three and it does significantly help these aging Optiplex PCs. Take care and keep up the great work on this channel!

I am so impressed with the performance of that old card that I did not too long ago do some research on some modded drivers and found entire communities dedicated to long forgotten cards that have no first party support anymore that have modified drivers to accommodate newer titles within the cards limits of course but a lot of clipping and limitations due to the lack of first party support is remedied through these third party modded drivers. Also too there's huge communities in modding communities and security supports communities for Windows 10 Windows 7 and all the way back to Windows XP Believe it or not that are current. Harkins me back to the days of what got me into doing tech support and building custom computers.

I love the concept, but in my opinion the 20 to 40 systems (3040, 7020 etc...) Optiplexes are just too old to make sense these days, at least for the price. For another $20 or so you can find the 50 series and up. I recently picked up a 5090 with i3 10105 and 16Gb of ram for $80. In my area on Marketplace the 6-7th Gen Optiplex PCs turn up at about $50 pretty frequently, and about $10 more (sometimes $50) for an 8th-9th gen system. With the newer CPU, especially an 8-9th gen, and a $35-45 Nvidia 1050Ti you can really get some gaming done, and the newer systems via Marketplace often come with storage, normally a 250GB SSD.

You can even put a 3050 6gb in them, with DLSS you'll be able to play sa triple AAA games in decent setting at 1080p

Just retired this exact computer last year. Had 16 gig and a gtx 1650 in it. I would love to see what it could do with the gtx 3050 6 gig in it as it does not have external power connectors.

In my area you can do a lot better with 100€. I recently got a almost identical 3020 for 30€ shipped. Ram and ssd upgrade 10€ each, just like you. Bringing us at 50€ I7 4770 for 25€ -5€ (selling the i5) left me with 30€ for a graphics card which I chose a 1050ti. Amazing performance. About double the Fortnite fps that you had. Some dealhunting is required tho. 4c/8t makes a big difference just like an NVIDIA gpu with driver support

I’m going to get a z2 g4 SFF with an i5 8500 ($105) and going to add in this exact GPU (3050 LP) ($175). What are you’re thoughts? I have a $300 budget. Should I look at MT so I can put a better GPU for around the same price but have to deal with the PSU needing an upgrade all for more than an SFF?

I've never seen a gpu so odd looking 😭. you should make a video about a $50 pc containing an old optiplex for around $20-$30 with 8g of ram some storage and the r5 430 $10 gpu

I have the sff. Changed the i5 for a xeon equivalent to a i7 4770. I use a gt 1030 gddr5 but thested a gtx 1050. I wouldnt go with a 1650... Gtx 1050 is the best match for performance and 2nd hand price.

Windows 10 end of life just means no more updates. I rarely if ever update my windows 10 anyways so it wont hurt me 1 bit when they end it!!

I have windows 11 on my main pc and windows 10 on my drives I use for flipping. I'm not worried about losing the updates from 10 I literally just use the drives for flipping.
