Alex, your videos convinced me that I MUST have this camera on my 2008 Tucson! I ordered it and it came yesterday and today I installed it on my license plate, plugged in the monitor to the cigarette adapter, turned on the car and INSTANTLY, I had a wonderfully clear backup camera!!! Truly the hardest part of this install was getting one of the rusty screws loosened on the license plate to take it off and install the camera! The 2008 screw that held on the license plate would not turn no matter how hard I tried to unscrew it. I litterly had to take it to someone that had a hand saw to cut off the screw just so I could remove the license plate!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 But once that screw came off, the camera slipped on perfectly and I installed the anti-theft screws you recommended to the plate and easy-peasy. Thank YOu!!!

Looks like a nice camera. The night time shot showed a car in the distance and the headlights looked extremely bright. Night time test with approaching oncoming traffic would help tell us if it just completely washes out.

Hi R! Ah the camera has automatic exposure control (most backup cameras have this now) so it decreases exposure when there is brighter objects to reduce overexposure (washout). You can kind of see that if you look at the night sky, notice how it changes from light to dark when there are brighter sources in the image. Now that being said, if there are car headlights directly behind you, aimed straight at the camera, yeah definitely the image will be affected (what I describe as someone shinning a light directly at yours eyes lol) as basically it exceeds the capability of the image sensor to compensate with exposure control. This is something we see commonly in dash cams since those are used while driving around where bright headlights directly behind the vehicle are common (such as in stop lights). This is actually a very interesting topic since it comes up in dash cams often and I have a video in the works covering this in more detail, stay tuned, Cheers!

Hi Alex, pretty nice and informative video. I use mi iPad Pro as CarPlay touchscreen for my car, do you know if I can connect the backup camera to another device that isn’t the display that come with the camera?, I’d like to to use the backup camera with my ipad

@ritalambert8323 Hi R! No need to push the button, the camera(s) turn on automatically when you turn on your vehicle. The button as shown in the video is only needed to bring the cameras back up from sleep if they time out, Cheers!

Hi T! While I may be possible to use a different hardwire kit on a dash cam, I usually recommend sticking to the matching hardwire kit for the dash cam (specified by the brand) to ensure that there are no functional issues or issues with warranty coverage.
