McLaren F1 used a BMW V12 6.0L after Honda refused to make a V12. Everyone knows Toyota would have never made the Supra with a bespoke engine because of the R&D costs. I'm glad it worked out for BMW who got Toyota's Hydrogen technology in exchange of the chassis and engine from BMW. Both teams have a lot of respect for each other so I'm not sure why people get all worked out.

I'm not an engine builder. Why would he use a copper head gasket if he has to do all the extra sealing vs a more conventional head gasket?
@SimanSlivar7 ай бұрын
Copper head gaskets lets much more heat get pulled from the head into the block. Less chance of predetonation. Copper is also a little more malleable than MLS so it seals better. Older cars used them for their properties as well. But due to the cost of copper its fallen out of practice in everyday useage.
@eduardbolchi76727 ай бұрын
That is correct actually... This the first pro engine builder that uses silicone AND gasket... You are a patcher when you do that... And guess what my mechanic courses had the practice part of things at bmw...🤔
@dougrobinson86027 ай бұрын
@@eduardbolchi7672 I'm surprised Steph didn't use the roller method to seal that head gasket. you get a plate of glass and put your sealant on that. Then you use a rubber roller over the sealant and transfer it to the gasket. You get a perfect stippled effect on the sealant, and there's the right amount of squeeze-out. Works great. I've been doing that sealing two stroke cases for years.

@deathcab4booty7 ай бұрын

@_kev_7 ай бұрын
It's mounted longitudinal. It's more space in the engine bay and you need the power to the rear wheels anyway in a drift car.
@ChuckThree7 ай бұрын
There is build series/overview of this drift Corolla somewhere on KZbin. But long story short it’s basically an entirely custom rwd chassis wearing a Toyota Carolla hat. I don’t think any of the original floor pans or firewall still exist.
@j.d.85937 ай бұрын
It started as a 4 cylinder car, it was built before the GR Corolla was even announced, and with enough fabrication skills you can basically fit any engine in any car.

@j.d.85937 ай бұрын
I mean, those 1000hp (250hp per cylinder) were VERY hard on that 4 cylinder engine and it wasn't very reliable, the B58 can hold those HP levels way better.
@carboydorifutoparty39767 ай бұрын
Tbh it honestly looked like the ar's had issues when they ran them in the rollas. It's not too surprising they went B58,when it did well,even in its first year being in the mk5 when aasbo started + them tossing it in Castro's GR86 also.

there's a lot of things but basically it depends on how much boost or nitrous you use, a ls v8 won't need a lot to reach 1000hp+ so it's kinda a waste of money (because you also need to machine the heads/block for the o-rings) but for small engines, if you are still using mls at 1000+, you're really reaching
