It's a little annoying in my opinion, when he makes it sound like he was forced to buy those $1000 sneakers. Id like to buy an expensive pair of kicks and ask strangers to recoup the cost for me /s. He's not begging for donations, but begging for views is pretty wack.

Dude, your channel is costing me so much money by turning me on to so many great American artisans. Now I want to start leatherworking as a hobby. I learned about Horween from the Chicago bag brang Defy 6 or 7 years ago, but thanks to you I've found Craft and Lore and Ashland. My philosophy has always been "Buy Once, Cry Once" and if I carry something every single day (EDC stuff like wallets and bags) I want them to give me pleasure. The past 8 years I've been carrying a Louis Vuitton zippy coin wallet, since I've lived in Europe and Japan where carrying coins is a must. The damn thing isn't even made of leather, but after 8 years, it still looks like the day I bought it. Welp. thanks to your channel, I'll be adding some for rugged pieces into the rotation. Keep it up, my dude.

This reminds me my first pair of Nike's, they were blue Air Jordans III. I was 11 years old and ask for them for my birthday since everyone in school was wearing them. I never thought in a million years that my parents would get them for me. What a surprise I had when I opened my gift. I felt like a million bucks. I wore them out. I never did tell my parents that I poked a hole in the air bubbles with my compass and protractor set in the middle of math class one day. I work at a car dealer ship now, and the smell of new leather in cars reminds me daily of them. Thanks for sharing your love of all things leather with us.

I was cleaning a 40+ years old shoe while watching this video. The dirt was like a black goo, only pure aceton worked. All of the most important parts were replaced on it multiple times, the welts at least 2 times, the insoles were cracked, the gemming was like paper. (I teared it out by hand when I resoled and rewelted the shoe. ) On some places the stiching gone dust. Only the upper was in a nice condition, it was shell cordovan. After a big conditioning it will be back for action again. Shell is such a wonderful material, no wonder why shoe maniacs love it so much.

I am really looking forward to the Shell Cordovan video. I actually considered purchasing a pair of horsehide boots (new, made in mexico), so I would be interested to know what makes horsehide so special (it is supposedly very hard to break in) and how regular horsehide differs from Shell Cordovan. Also, even though I absolutely loathe ASMR-videoes, the ASMR part of this video was actually quite nice. Probably because nobody was whispering all the time :)

This is a fantastic video. I'm so impressed you made a wallet out of sneakers. The fact it's worth 1000 in raw materials is alone is epic!

Thanks much for the project plans. Can’t wait to try it out. I’m going experiment using foam sheets (suggested by another of your vids). Hmmmm …. Cat to box 📦 adoption… 0 seconds flat 😎
