1000cc Mini Trophy Truck First Drive!! Our BMW Powered Trophy Kart ROARS to Life!

We drive our 1000cc BMW powered trophy kart for the first time! We finish up the cooling system, build and install pedals for gas, brake, and clutch, make an unsavory but necessary modification to the engine's intake (for testing purposes, if it proves to be an issue, we'll figure something else out), and then DRIVE the trophy kart out of the shop under its own power for the first time!
Thanks for Watching!

As short of choke point as that really is, if he cut a round piece out of the original piece large enough to give steering shaft clearance. Then moved out maybe 3/4" of an inch each side, and formed it into nice smooth radius, entering, and leaving the dip for shaft. There would be little if any actual loss of CFM, due to the air velocity increasing around the obstruction, especially no greater than the distance is from the filter housing to the inlet to the intake. But, your correct in that making it transition out wider, either offset one side or the other, if not equal centerline would be optimal, it the piece was actually long enough to allow for clean transitions. Only not necessary in all instances, as a small choke in a short distance as this is the speed the air will pickup, if it is in a radius configuration, will more than compensate, for any static change in the airflow.
@FishFind3000
@FishFind3000 3 жыл бұрын
I believe it was motor trend that tested exhaust and they smashed the shit out of them and had nearly zero loss. But that was exhaust systems. On the intake side it’s probably gonna affect it more.
@christianbuczko1481
@christianbuczko1481 3 жыл бұрын
@@FishFind3000 exactly, by squashing it abit, its simple, clean and permanant, and alot easier than chopping out and welding a choke point in which will effect things badly. They made a simple job complex.
@timothymilam732
@timothymilam732 3 жыл бұрын
@@FishFind3000 shouldn't if he does as I mentioned, but leave it as it is, over cut, with flat head on into that dead wall as it is. Then excessive chunk removed from it with the flat face again leaving it, is just like dropping a slab of rock in a narrow stream. You have a choke point, with heavy turbulence boiling back into the flow. Which more than doubles the resistance entering, and causing even more rolling n boiling of air flow through the narrow gap left. When it exits the narrow choke point, you have a dead zone as it goes vertical, and this too causes the air to roll , and fight itself as it's trying to spread out before entering the intake. Imagen rocks in the shape of how he made the cuts, then see in your minds eye, how water boils, swirls back on itself as it tries to go through boulders, and flat slabs of rocks in a choke on a river, creating rapids, doing all kinds of all the above. Air responds very much as water does, as it hits such things in its path as it tries to flow through, ductwork, are intake ducting. Little if any difference in the two's behavior.

Jacob Larsen 24 is a grown man, I’m 22 and I’ve been an aerospace engineer for over a year professionally, it’s hard to watch these videos and watch them fail due to and obvious mistake that I commented and told them about, they ignore good advice and then they’re surprised when they can’t drive 2 mph. Then they go out and waste money and time buying replacement parts one after the other with the same result and can’t seem to figure out that the very first one would have worked perfectly if they just took a few seconds to install it correctly instead of doing a well known easy install incorrectly. They’re driveshaft angle is wrong, all they need is a $2 level and to take a look for 1 second at a picture that a 3 year old could understand that explains driveshaft angle without even needing to read a single word.

Isaac is totally helpless too, I’m happy that they’re having fun making videos that tons of people enjoy but certainly not good examples and they could save so much wasted time and money and end up with a good result instead of repeated failure if they just took some time to learn these easy concepts instead of just hacking together one turd after the other. Lots of other channels like grind hard and moto mule and rather b welding where they have figured out how to do things much better even though rather b welding is like 16 and had no knowledge of engineering or automotive design

Great video guys. For something thats thrown together its great. The rear axle...? You win some, you loose some. But you learnt an awful lot. Don't feel under pressure to finish it quickly. View it as a big serious project that gets slotted inbetween the small funny fast turned around project. Great stuff as I said. Its not easy after a set back but stick with it lads.

Try cutting that steering linkage and angling it up and over the intake. Kinda like a trapezoid shape with some gussets in the corners, it'll be almost as strong as the straight rod, but you can use a normal intake pipe.
