In today's video, we are going to be going over a simple easy dual-battery setup for your travels. We are featuring two products that make life on the road so much easier these days. The first is the Dr. PrePare (Great Name!) 100Ah LifePO4 battery with the power max hub to convert it into a portable power station. This is a pretty slick unit if you are looking for an easy solution to hook up a 12-volt fridge or charge your phones/other accessories. You are also able to charge via solar with an Anderson plug into the PowerMax hub is great for longer trips. The nice thing about the Dr. PrePare is that it comes in at $399 with the PowerMax Hub which is a great deal for a portable power station that 100Ah.
The second battery is one we are all more familiar with which is a portable power station. In this video, I am comparing the Anker SOLIX C1000 which is fairly comparable in size. The Anker has less capacity, but what it lacks in capacity it makes up for in features. The C1000 has six AC outlets, with an 1800W Output. The Dr. PrePare can only handle 1000W if you can hook up an inverter to the battery. However, the Anker comes in much more pricier than the Dr. PrePare 100Ah Battery.

Nice vid. I did sort of the same thing to add a battery extender to my Solix c1000. About $500 for the Li Time battery, inverter and charger. I contacted Anker. With a pure sine inverter you can do pass through charging with the battery and inverter. What I liked is it both a backup unit and an extender, just in case there’s a problem with the station. To add one other thing. If you get the 200 watt Anker solar panels they automatically will work to charge their c1000 with you figuring it all out. You can use the same panels to charge the battery separately with a solar charger. If you then use the battery to charge the station, you don’t have to take the station outdoors and can keep using one or the other. Their 200 watt panel is currently around $500 so if you get both the station and the panels, you’re around $1150. Not cheap. I bought directly from Anker. Amazon wasn’t cheaper and I figured I’d get more attention if I bought directly from them. I used the 100 amp Litime mini battery.

Yeah also if they could get the solar input to be more as well. 100W is weak sauce. A few limitations to this unit for sure it will be perfect for some but not enough for most…

Hey Kookz! Thanks for all your work! I have a solar question, if you don’t mind. Basically, I am wondering where it’s best to put my disconnect switch for solar panels to put in ‘storage’ mode when not in use. I have a Renogy Rover and i put my switch in between the wires that connect the charger to the battery bank. Should I have put the switch in between my panels and charger, when turning my system back on - out of ‘storage’ mode when i’m ready to use? I am wondering if it matters too or if i goofed it ✌️😬 Thanks for your time! Happy to venmo you a cup of coffee!

Hey dude! You can add either a switch or nice little inline breaker on the positive line in between the panels and the MPPT here is a link amzn.to/3vW2s3i it's basically a switch. Not sure how much solar wattage you have but you just need to know the amps so 400W / 12V = 33.33 so a 40Amp fuse would work in this situation. hope that helps.

Is it possible to have two different battery banks from different brands. Being that there is a selector right after the solar charger , and a selector right before inverter?

It should be fine you may have to get creative with plugs/cords and accessories.

How well does the Anker Solix C1000 power your fridge? Any issue with power surges when the compressor kicks in?

No it’s only issues about 50w it handles it very well.

​@@Vankookz Thanks! I just got one (received it this past Friday) but it won't power my 12v fridge. I knew it should, my fridge runs very similar to yours, its a 12v Alpicool, pulls about 50 watts when running. The fridge shows that it's receiving 13+ volts, so I'm thinking it's either the wattage or amperage where there's a defect. My 3 year old Jackery 500 runs it fine and the 12v outlet has the same specs on both the Jackery and the Solix. I had contacted Anker and they are going to send a replacement which I consider great customer service.

Would it be more cost efficient to get prismatic cells and diy? You just got recommended on my feed. But I heard 48 watt inverters are more efficient than 12 watt inverters.
