It's incredeble. Dundee Utd should have been in the European Cup final that year. Roma won the return game 3 - 0 but I'm sure they had some cheat going on with the ref. Years later they got done for it. But isn't it amazing what Utd and Aberdeen did in Europe for a good few years in the the Eighties?

Quel giorno eravamo senza Falcao per l'infortunio contro l'Inter e Liedholm schierò Agostino col N5 e Chierico alto largo a destra col 10. Col senno di poi vista la spinta degli scozzesi una formazione più accorta magari con Nappi terzino e Oddi e Righetti centrali più Sebino con Maldera in appoggio di contenimento la squadra forse sarebbe stata più equilibrata e non avremmo subito così tanto da renderci la partita di ritorno così difficile e col patema di non farcela ma per fortuna...

The second leg was an scandalous fix. Roma only won the tie because of a corrupt referee. The final ought to have been between Dundee Utd and Liverpool. Despite their cheating, the Italians still didn't win the trophy so least at a little bit of justice was done in the end.

Before the return match the Roma president tried to bribe the referee, he also made false allegations that the United players were on drugs to create an atmosphere of hatred. After the final whistle numerous Roma players chased after the United manager Jim McLean verbally and physically abusing him, some Roma players disgustingly spat on him - they behaved like animals. Justice was done in the final.
