His only chance, and just slightly more, was if he was white. I don't know if they were racist; They just acted way too intrested in tazing for some reason. It's hard to prove being racist in their policing position unless they verbally directly say something and is caught clearly on video. I don't think you can ever interpret actions as racist unless they do some type of nazi salute or something. I don't think you're ever going to see that happen. Maybe im wrong though. I was wondering if the "auditors" here ever know of anybody Winning a case when the police actions were interpreted as racist and not any the verbal comments made. So....a question back at you, Mr. Auditor.

@NOBBERT true, but salary is already part of our taxes. Paying settlements above and beyond what is already required to have police presence should not also come from taxpayers, but directly from monies the officers expect to personally receive outside of their salary. Start chipping away at their retirement balance and they will start fighting each other.

The taxpayers are apathetic about this issue in the extreme - though many want police to be even more abusive. They routinely elect authoritarian right-wingers with white supremacist sympathies. They absolutely should be paying - it's one of the very few ways that reminds them that there's a cost for giving such people the sweeping, nearly unaccountable power & authority.

@Crom The guy to the right was involved in the dispute, not pointing a gun at a kid. There was actually no gun. The officers were supposed to investigate a domestic dispute. Instead they made a situation worse by making up a gun call and harming someone who had nothing to do with the dispute. That's why people are upset. Watch the video thoroughly.

@WeeStrom CO Guy If a Supervisor knows better and protects his criminals under him that should have been trained better, of course they share responsibility. In most States, if you rob a bank, and you are sitting in the get away car waiting for the robbers, and they shoot and kill someone, you are as responsible as the shooter. I've only seen a few videos where the Patrolman was really wrong and the Supervisor comes along tells the Patrolman that they are wrong and to let the victim go. The Supervisor doesn't want to make his criminal pal look bad. So the Victim gets arrested and his car towed. No one ever talks about how much this whole illegal action is costing the victim. Even the Judges are part of the problem. They are part of the criminal money collection system. Arrest someone for a Bogus DUI. The car gets towed, no matter what. Then you have to pay the towing fees and the cost of storage. No questions asked.

Heck, when I was a child and involved in a grooming gang, I saw two police officers just walk past me, I was naked with bruises all over on a moldy mattress.. though one of them paid attention just not in the way I was hoping for. They're entirely unfit for purpose and need to be overhauled from the ground up, they also need to be stripped of there guns.. Getting so enraged over these videos that you lose all faith and decide that ACAB is when you become a threat to society and start making bad choices. While we now have evidence of the absurd amount of bad police are out there in our own communities is scary, that doesn’t mean all cops are bad. Cops now are better than they ever have been. The more technology has improved and given us more context, the more these thug officers have been held in check. Keep your faith, know your rights and do your best to be a good person and you will likely be fine.

Sadly, a lot of good cops have no power to do such. They can report all they want, but consistently are fired for the smallest slip up(as little as filing a report wrong or a simple traffic infraction), in retaliation for their efforts “against the department”. When the corruption runs all the way to the top, an officer who’s worked 3 years, with nothing but the utmost good intentions, can’t really do much. Just think of the cop who pulled her Sargent off a handcuffed man he was punching. She was immediately strangled by her superior and pushed up against a car. That is an extreme example, and thankfully he was reprimanded due to the body cams. But sometimes the corruption is just so deep, there’s nothing a low level officer can do.

110k from the taxpayers' money is more than enough for unlawful detention with no long-term consequences. If you so desire you can always donate more of your money to the detained. It should have been 100k of the officer's savings. Give the officers some amount of liability. HOLY F@@K! I almost swallowed my tongue when he was tased (in the back!) and started falling backward. Holy crap, that right there, by itself, is worth more than $110,000. Qualified immunity has to be reconsidered as taxpayers should not be on the hook for this kind of conduct. You can't counter a potential crime with another crime. I could see myself that he was as much a threat to the officers as a cloudy day. If he had become a quadriplegic, there would have been no settlement. A civil trial would surely award him millions. Police officers seem to be taking the role of judge and jury more often and more violently lately.

I had an Aurora officer hold a gun to my head once, was screaming at me calling me what seemed like every word under the sun, then accused me of being a drug dealer. cuffed me, checked my pockets, put me in the back of his car and ran my id etc and then eventually let me go. I have no record, don't do any drugs, and was just at the bank, no drug deals, nothing. I have always had bad experiences with them. luckily I moved away from that area. I also remember a cop stopping me on the side walk and was literally searching through my yugioh cards for drugs and weapons, it will forever be in my memory as one of the dumbest things I could imagine an officer doing, with his big ass flashlight tucked between his shoulder and chin and the reflection of my foil cards on his forehead....

Aurora cops and Arapahoe sheriffs suck. I like when they pull me over because I have all my ID paperwork current -- and no warrants. They are always so disappointed when they pull me over in the beat-up landscaping truck I drive for the company that I work for. I've got long hair and they act like they've got a sure thing warrant hit but they never do. So then they start with the cracked windshield or bald tire routine just to let me know that they coud have the truck towed -- and I have to take a bus home.

It always amazes me how a random person is picked out to do an investigation. Do the investigation first, then approach a suspect. When you pick out a random person, time and time again, the confrontation escalates resulting in an innocent citizen having all sorts of charges thrown at them. Resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, assault of a police officer, and the list goes on and on. Then the innocent citizen has to go to court to fight those charges which would have never have happened to begin with.

Despite their own department policy proving beyond a reasonable doubt that what they did was unlawful and against policy they stand their legitimately saying it was justified. It was stamped by the court address to the court with court transcripts and it was instructed by the court to place on the apartment and no one was home no incident I was clearly walking with my Walker to and from quickly. They lied they were caught on video and there was no fire department or fire at all the lawyer and the judge never even looked at the police report interesting. The ACLU doesn't represent white people I guess neither does the doj want to be responsible.
