Hello, thank you for your comment. The shuttle is from La Cossette on Etsy (I'll add the link in the info box at the top).

Would u say it's possible to add the different kinds of rings, chains and other tatting techniques in between the cover stitches (regardless if in some cases you would disrupt the covering and leave some parts of the plastic ring uncovered). I appreciate you for being open to hear all of our different questions and scenarios and showing patience with discussing, explaining and answering.This is one of the qualities that really makes a person's work likable as u emit your sense of self to your work. Thanks, Christina :)

Hi Christina, yes, since you are covering with a shuttle, you could certainly make elements such as rings and chains between the stitches covering the ring... but as you say, you might see the ring in between stitches if you did.

Thank you Sunela! There's no magic number, but it's easy: you just keep adding stitches until your ring is fully covered, snugging them along as you go.

K Novak Thank you so much for your lovely comment! Is there something in particular that you'd like to see in future videos?

11Frivole I would love it if I could see (learn) how rows of tatting are aquired. Your stitches are remarkable. I have not seen ANY ONE do ANYTHING close to the stitches you use.

K Novak Do you mean how to make regular stitches? How to make them all even, is that what you mean?
@them8triark9 жыл бұрын
11Frivole No, what I mean is, if I wanted to tat lace on the bottom of a skirt, I don't understand how I would be able to make rows of tatting. I seen your video on making a doily, but for a skirt I would need straight rows, where a doily is continual, rounds.
@11Frivole9 жыл бұрын
K Novak Hi, there are many straight edgings that could be used to hem a skirt. You could choose one that is made in one round only or if you wanted something wider (though there are some nice ones that are pretty wide even in one round), you make more rounds, just like a doily really, except that the design of the lace means that your rounds work out straight instead of curving, as in a doily. Let me know if I'm still not answering your question! :-)

I love hearing your voice, and your lovely accent. I could listen to it for hours on end - which is how long I could happily watch you tat too. C'est très charmant...

Great video Frivole..... enjoying all your videos..... Even though there are many videos, I enjoy watching each and everyone as some are easier to follow than others. By the way, do you have a magic number of how many ds's you add to a plastic ring.

Lovely video. Thank you. I was wondering if you could tell me where you got your shuttle. I just love it.

I could watch you tat for hours. I watch the short video of you doing what I think is the butterfly doily all the time.

Do you have a tutorial on doing 2 shuttle cover ring? while keeping the second shuttle thread encased? so that can start tatting from one end and both threads will be there?
@11Frivole2 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve, you could do this with two shuttles instead of a shuttle and ball and the technique would be the same. Wind two shuttles continuously, cover your ring as per the video and when you have covered the ring you will be back at the beginning of your circle with your other shuttle waiting for you, ready to work whichever design you choose.

@@11Frivole so i actuallly figured it out without using both, i held the ring verticle with my stitches at top with shuttle two dangling in air and my shuttle one thread behind that one so when i bring the loop up its incasing the 2nd shuttle and same when i pull the thread back down to the other side i make sure to go on the back side of my shuttle two to pick up the loop and it encases the thread within the stich invisibly while keeping the 1 shuttle stitch on the ring :)
@11Frivole2 жыл бұрын
@@stevemichael8186 Glad you figured it out but there is no need to encase the other thread (unless you like the extra thickness), as I said above, you can just leave one shuttle to dangle and use the other shuttle to cover the ring and once it's all covered you'll be back at the beginning with the other shuttle waiting for you! But you've got it worked out as you wanted so that's great! :-)

Ok I know how to tat around a ring...now I want to make this earring and it says for ring a to do 2 ds, join to a jump ring, 1ds, join to jump again and then the directions are just 2,p, 2, p etc for 4 times. Now when I join to the jump ring it just doesn't look right at all..I think it should look like I'm covering a ring but that doesn't look right either...please help

Hi Amanda, I actually have a video that shows how to join to a jump ring, hopefully it will help? Here is the link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZjRZZ6sfa2kkK8

can you still add beads with this technique?
@11Frivole8 жыл бұрын
+Cristina Capella Hi Cristina, yes I don't see why you couldn't. You'd have to string them on your shuttle thread before hand and then slip them down in between stitches.
