This is such a fab channel ❣️ The comments are so interesting, too. Freezing really is the way to go. Obs, meat, freezer meals, but also homemade sauces, stock, etc. My fave tips are 1. Grate your cheese, an freeze it. 2. Bananas actually increase in nutritional value if theyre frozen. They can be frozen as is, or mashed and bagged. 3. Most berries can be washed, bagged an frozen. They defrost in mimutes, but also yummy as a frozen snack. Fresh herbs ...chop finely and freeze in ice cube trays with a little water. Have a fab day❣️🤣

The really great thing you learned is that so much of the food that went off could have been portioned out and frozen.Don’t feel bad we all learn this the hard way and your lesson was cheap at the price because you didn’t really lose too much.

Ground beef when it is still raw is usually only good for about 2 days after opening the package. I like to freeze what ever I don't use so it won't go to waste or risk making myself sick.

The kale and spinach can go in the freezer. I think they are actually easier to cook with while frozen. You can add some greens to whatever you may be cooking by sprinkling in some from the frozen bag.

@@BudgetFoodieUK By the by, it' s a good idea to store radishes and carrots in water ( change it daily though) - they stay crunchy 🥕 (Love your vids and your Jack 😍)

You could make an egg muffin using the eggs and spinach. Eat some and freeze some for quick breakfasts/snacks.

Btw I keep onions in cupboard in dark dry place they keep much better. The way I see it is where u buy them at supermarkets is where they should be stored unless they state otherwise after buying like eggs for example

I just don't think fresh produce lasts that long so don't feel too bad. Sadly wuth meat even before opening doesn't always last until its date. Definitely freeze half or cook all at once. I been feeding my dog some day out sliced meat if smell OK but for us I don't risk it. Tried various different container to make produce last longer including kitchen roll in the storage tub. Good luck with this week I hate food waste.

@BudgetFoodieUK I don't think container would made a difference unless you used other half next day or frozen the other half. I don't like freezing raw poultry as find when defrosted can smell off so I cook the chicken into a meal then freeze. I like batch cooking mince based meals as so quick and easy. Just rare to find reduced mince these days

I popped to big tesco today as needed a few thing's doing a roast this weekend as got a reduced chicken from sainsbury. Got some tesco cheap stuffing 49p and as i was making stuffing balls had potentially 2 new meal ideas for you. I reckon if mixed stiffing with white beans and maybe carrot could make around 6 veggie burgers. Poundland have multibuy on lots small bags Whitworth nuts 2 for £2. Naybe crush some add to sage and stuffing mix and add to small loaf tin to make a cheap nut roast that could feed 2 to 3 meals portions.. you have be careful poundland/ b&m and home bargains as not everything is cheaper some things smaller packaging but can get some odd basic to supplemebt cheap tesco shop if add in £1.50 lildls veg box even better value for money.

It's really simple just freeze more ! Even if the food is originally frozen after cooking it's ok to refreeze . Some things freeze better than others & this is home freezing not flash freezing ! Normally this dictates what you can do with your frozen foodstuffs . Obviously some processing before freezing improves this situation . Also massive blocks of frozen food are unusable so freeze things in usable portions . You can freeze celery & carrots but don't expect crunchy . Both work nicely in a soup or under roasts . Let's just say it's a learning experience & you'll make mistakes . Soft fruit is normally the first one ….. Make jam ,chutney ,curd ,apple butter or something in a jar from soft fruits !

Hey love your channel! I’m on keto myself. I eat the 100% Greek yogurt from Tesco the only ingredient is milk and it’s 10% fat or more (way cheaper than brand leader Fage) so good for keto diet and very good as an ingredient for other things. I make keto pancakes with it 😊 Greek style unfortunately is very watery and full of sugar and stabilisers. The higher the fat the better. And less ingredients the better. Great content loving your recipes ❤

To avoid wasted food, use your freezer! Why do you house your onions and potatoes in the fridge. Ive always placed them in a dark cupboard! They last longer! The meat should have gone back to the shop for a refund! There is no reason for it to go off in the fridge!
