"Broken" Alone again again alone Patiently waiting by the phone Hoping that you will call me home The pain inside my love denied Hopes and dreams swallowed by pride Everything I need it lies in you 'Cause I'm broken I know I need you now 'Cause deep inside I'm broken You see the way I live I know I know your heart is broken When I turn away I need to be broken Take the pain away I question why you chose to die When you knew your truth I would deny You look at me The tears begin to fall And all in all faith is blind But I fail time after time Daily in my sin I take your life All the hate deep inside Slowly covering my eyes All these things I hide Away from you again All this fear holding me My heart is cold and I believe Nothing's gonna change Until I'm whole again Broken Broken Broken Broken

Dang. This comment makes me feel so old. But you're right. I was 12, so 2002/2003, which is when this song came out and I heard about them through some older kids in youth group. I remember my dad hearing the music from my room and running in and me being like "it's okay Dad, it's CHRISTIAN," and I had to show him the lyric pamphlet. that was the only thing that stopped him from taking my stereo 😂 I'll be 34 this year. Just doesn't seem that long ago.

@@830hole Sadly it's not that simple. The label that Evanescence was signed to insisted that a "male rapper" join Evanescence. Amy Lee was strongly against it as she didn't want the band to be labeled as "female Linkin Park". They compromised and on their first single featured a "male rapper" was bring me to life. She wrote Paul's verse. Just goes to show you how out of touch labels can be. Paul is certainly not a rapper whatsoever and I wouldn't consider 12 Stones to be anything close to nu-metal. They definitely got the shitty end of that stick.
