I love my boxers, they are easy to train, but they also like inventing their own games. For instance, my male boxer was thrilled with fetch, I would throw the ball, he would get it and give it back so I could throw it again. He (on his own) changed this game to he would bring the ball back and stop about 15 feet away, set the ball on the ground and take a few steps back. Then when I tried to get it he would rush in, pick it up and run away. I swear he actually looks like he is laughing everytime he does this!

I've owned and breed boxers for 30 yrs and they are definitely the most loving breed and funniest dogs. They are very easy trained with treats but u have to continuously work with them. Another thing about them not sheeding, I have a yr and a half old now and she has the softest fur I've ever felt on a boxer and she sheeds so bad. She always goes with me in the car and there is fur in every nook and cranny, even the radio knobs have fur wedged in. Boxers are very good with children cause they are very gentle and very protective. My buddy went to discipline his son and the boxer grabbed him by his shirt and about tore the shirt off him

I miss my Boxers. I'v had 4, 2 females & 1 male. My 1st Boxer was my constant companion. If I had 2 leave her @ home 4 any reason, she would sulk by the door until I came home. She lived my husband & sons but they just could not consol her while I was out. She just could not let me sit in a chair, on the couch or floor without sitting behind me as my backrest pillow. She slept on my pillow as a young pup & under the blankets in our bed as an adult. She snored louder than my husband & would sometimes push him out of bed bcuz she thought HIS snoring had woke her up. She was very gentle with my children & all their friends & would often use her leash 2 round up my friends when we strayed 2 far apart as we went 4 group walks around town. I had her just over 13 yrs, she's been gone now 4 9 years & I miss her every day! I am getting older & have had many different breeds in my life but someday I will have another Boxer. My grandparents had three dogs and one was a Boxer. For some reason that dog just impressed me so much that my first dog was a Boxer and now Im on my third. My husband met me when I had my second and wasn't a fan of her and actually made me keep her outside bc he "didn't allow dogs in his house"..... well when I got Cancer 6 years later and had lost my Sarai I said I was getting another one to help me get through the treatments. He let me only bc he was always gone working and knew I needed the extra love and affection. 7 yrs we have had our Levi and he tells me everyday how much he LOVES this dog more than any other dog he's ever loved and he can't believe the LOVE he gets from him in return. This breed is hands down the absolute BEST breed EVER for anyone who can spend the day with them. THEY ARE NOT A DOG TO BE LEFT ALONE for long periods of time so if you don't have at least ONE person home during the day I do NOT recommend getting a Boxer. The separation anxiety they experience while you are gone is excrutiating painful for them.

It depends on what level of training you want i thnk. With boxers i have always found they are able to learn what you want, are generally pretty well behaved but their craziness and stubborness takes over more than other breeds. For example, you can see them listening to you but sometimes will still decide they would rather do what ever crazy thing is in their mind first... thankfully its normally something fun for them, like seeing a visitor (every visitor), spotting another dog to play with on a walk etc. I also have never had one where i thought they would protect the house, honestly if someone broke in to my house im pretty convinced my dog would try to play with them first

I've had Boxers for 56 years. Back in the 60's through the late 80's all of our Boxers had cropped ears and docked tails. The Wife and I have had 8 Boxers over the last 35 years,we always get them in pairs, and we had our first two Boxers ears cropped and the tails docked. After the first two we stopped having the ears cropped but we still have their tails docked, they pretty much come that way in the US. It doesnt hurt them when the tail is docked, they just put a rubber band around the tail and it falls off. It's not like they're pulling a three blind mice thing and chopping their tales with a carving knife. I'll always have Boxers with docked tails, they can sweep a coffee table clean with a long tail, think of it like having their dew claws removed.

@@TrulyUnfortunate And what about the wounds they can get themself with wagging their tails against the table stands, chears or doorwindows when they are that over-enthousiastic. When i came at my vet for the third or forth time with wounds on her tail, he told me : Maybe it is better to dock the tail,to stop hurting the misses from herself. Although it was forbidden by law. He arranged to dock the tail by a operation and when done i recived a signed and stamped paper,to show WHY she had a docked tail although she was still young. The operation was not cheap, but at least my dog was happy, not hurting herself and not hurting my wallet anymore.

@@janvanrenselaar5998 Floppy ears can be an issue as well. If they shake their head to hard and to often, usually an ear issue, they'll break blood vessels in the ear causing the ear to inflate with blood. They then have to have the ear drained and sewn back together like a quilt.

Years ago I had one, loved very much she was my shadow. I'm really good with dogs and I have a lot of patience, and I know things take time, just keep at it and always show love; they are great fun dogs but the two things I hated was she would take off -- jump the fence because she saw a cat or heard something. It was difficult to deal with alway looking around the neighbor hood trying to find her and track her down. Or we would be up front she would take off right in front of me - run off and go sniffing around, i'm calling her and i'm close and she would just be stubborn and ignore me, and she would just keep running away, sniffing around, that was not fun when a dog starts pulling that stuff. Those two things bugged the shat out of me. Other wise a fun loyal dog for sure.
