Hi Kyle. Thanks for the video, good info and fun unedited. There is one thing that you left out which for me is a big deal. I use the LS to Pioneer and it has an internal drop-down sunvisor which is a great benefit! Do any of the other helmets have that in your list? Also, the LS two visor does not drop down in the wind. You can put it on any of the notch settings and it will stay securely. You can even open it about an eighth of an inch, not on a notch, and it stays open. That’s handy if any fogging happens. Cheers!

@@manybikes I have owned a few Harley and BMW bikes in my day, but not since 2007. I typically rode with a half helmet or no helmet. In 2018, I bought a new Street Scrambler. After a quick spin, I decided riding without a proper helmet was not appealing anymore. So, I bought two Bell Moto 3s and a Daytona Cruiser 3/4 helmet. I thought those helmets would compliment the off-road, retro style of my Street Scrambler. While decent, for me, those helmets fall short on practicality and versatility. For anyone considering the above-noted helmets (in my opinion): The Moto 3 is nice, but when riding with others, talking at red lights is almost impossible, access to your face is limited, and the peak catches the wind over 45 MPH. Also, the only way to shield your eyes is with glasses or goggles. I found that I do not really like wearing goggles for extended periods. Glasses are okay with the Moto 3, but you can not cover your entire face if needed while wearing one. The Daytona Cruiser looks great because of its low profile and retro appearance. Also, it is a great value. I added a flip up visor/shield combo. I love wearing it for short trips, but for longer rides, I like full face coverage. To address the aforementioned issues, I started searching for adventure helmet options, and stumbled across the AT950. I wish I had seen it sooner. It is the perfect solution, as it seems to combine most of the features of my helmets in one tidy package. It looks like a motocross helmet, has three options for face and eye protection, allows access to my face and has an eye port that rivals the Moto 3. I am not sure what other equipment you have reviewed to date, but I think head-to-head reviews of all the typical riding gear would be helpful. Or, maybe other helmets, such as 3/4, half, or motocross style. I know when I searched for helmets, I liked to see them on a person with the size noted and number of shell size options. You basically covered the other stuff. Thanks again.

Having worn several of these for a week or more since this was shot... the Krios Pro is my daily go-to. It is MUCH lighter than most of the others and it is so much more vented / water evaporates out of it so much faster. Most other helmets... once the liner is wet... it is wet until the next day. With the Krios Pro... I can take it off for an hour, eat lunch and I can put back on a mostly dry helmet. It's pretty amazing. And with Com and Camera it is still lighter than my Arai XD4... which is my favorite fit and finish wise but it heavy, doesn't vent well, the peak is not removeable and it doesn't have a transitions shield. You did a pretty good review and thanks for that. You didn’t talk about venting or room for a mic for your system. You also did talk about what intercom systems will fit which helmets. That’s quite often not thought about to after you own the helmet. But thanks for what you have done.

The MX-9 is a nice helmet for the price but the strap is a DEAL BREAKER!! The ring-side is TOO LONG. When you tighten this helmet up, the rings will ride right on the middle of your throat. Worst in when you look down, the D-rings jam into right into your adams apple. Only helmet I've ever wore in 40yrs of riding that actually bruised my throat. Arai and Shoei get the D-ring strap length RIGHT! Saving my bucks for my original 1st choice, the XD-4! Oh, quick tip Kyle... you need to tighten the strap a lot more to really FEEL how the helmet will fit your head.
@manybikes4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your real world feedback on the MX-9. Yeah, Aria is my Go-To and is the best fitting in my head. I do have to disagree about needing the “helmet strap tight” to feel how a helmer fits. That will let you know how the “strap feels” but the helmet fitment is really at the crown & cheek pad area. I wear my strap so I can easily fit two fingers between the strap and my chin / neck. Now strap placement is KEY. I have had three helmets over the years that I had purchased and the strap placement was so bad I didn’t even test ride the helmet before giving them away. The original Shark, an AFX dirt helmet and a Simpson. All heads and all helmets are different and finding the ones that fit your head is KEY! Thanks for watching!

I have the LS2 Pioneer MX436 size M. Fits well (head size 58). It is ECE 22.05 certified as all of the expensive helmets. Looks cool. Very light 1350gr 2.9 pounds and that is with the internal sun visor. Pinlock ready. Liner even though fully removable is a little thin. Peak is big like an MX helmet. Visor is very good and solid but as you mentioned doesnt stay fully opened easily (side screws must be tight). Excellent value for money, bought it for 105 euros (114 USD).

Helmets are weighed in grams. I can’t make sense of pounds and oz for helmets since no one else reports them that way.
@manybikes3 жыл бұрын
Yes, in some worlds they are measured in Grams. Here in the USA our manufacturers and distributors discuss helmets in pounds and ounces. Even Revzilla uses Pounds and Ounces : "Helmet weights generally run between 3 - 4+ lbs. Helmets between 3 and 3.75lb are considered to be on the lighter end of the spectrum. Weights listed on RevZilla.com are based on Large helmets with all liners included"

I'm not a big fan of DOT only. ECE is the minimum
@manybikes4 жыл бұрын
I totally agree!
@StansE250 Жыл бұрын
DOT is pretty worthless. While it is “mandatory” for US market, it’s pretty RIDICULOUS that labels(brands) are on the ‘honor system’ for test results. That makes the cert absolutely Worthless to me. Snell is ‘good’; but, the European ratings are leaps & bounds above US ratings in terms of efficacy. Actually, if you dig a little, Snell bases their ratings on Hard impacts, whereas a larger number of TBIs occur at lower (intensity) impact. Stick with ECE for Ultimate Safety.

The review was awesome but all the overpriced KLIM gear is made in China and I think we should be told where gear is manufactured. I refuse to buy gear produced in that country because of the world release of COVID- 19. You produced this video before that but have noticed some recent ones where you don't tell us and trust me we want to know. $1300 US on a Klim jacket is a lot of money. My money will not be going there until there government backs off being a bullies to Hong Kong, Australia and any other country on Earth.

Mikey B Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Your statement is incorrect however... while some of Klim gear is made In China, much of it is made in Bangladesh, Thailand, Indonesia and more and more of it (like most of their t-shirts) are made in Mexico. I’ll do my best to try to remember to include where items are made in my reviews. Good point.
