The 14th one: Stop hiding away from life on the internet. You’re just giving yourself small temporary endorphin boosts (like a drug) and it gives you temporary justification for being lazy and not living your life. If you continue down this road you’ll be nothing. Get out there. Start living life. Let go of the internet. If you’re reading this and it triggers you, then I may have just saved your life. Trust me, nobody wants to talk about how dangerous it is to always be on the internet because it’s a safe space for a lot of people, but it’s the root of many peoples issues and they don’t even know it. It’s so bad for you.

What are some video titles you would like to see? We will be coming out with paid courses on One Percent Academy to explore the topics you've mentioned if you have interest. See you around!
@robinrubendunst8694 жыл бұрын
Aahnaf, you were exploring your options. Don’t frame it like it was a waste of time, even the time you were least productive (too much tv, video games, partying, etc.). Your best years are ahead of you, so take the information you gathered during your twenties and move ahead. Don’t let it become an ingrained pattern/behavior. Focus on being productive in one or two areas of your life everyday. Great books to keep you motivated: The Raid Less Traveled 7 Habits of Highly Effective People Audio lectures: The Psychology of Winning (Dennis Waitley) As far as making decisions, ambivalence can be tough.

I think the only one that answers in the affirmative is “ignore the unchangeables”. These 13 points, although valid and are good strategies for being a mentally strong person, could be answered in the affirmative. Instead of “Don’t feel sorry”, Be apologetic. Instead of “Don’t give away power”, keep your power. Instead of “Don’t fear change”, embrace change. The simple restructure of these ideals can mean different things. “Do’s” have more power than “Don’ts”. Does anyone share that same sentiment?
@robinrubendunst8694 жыл бұрын
Different strokes for different folks. The don’t statements might trigger a person to think about and analyze their current behavior. “Hmmm, how do I give away my power. When have I done that, how did it make me feel and how did it hold me back?” THEN the process could lead to your suggestion of framing it in the positive. Dennis Waitley said it’s harder to take action on a negative directive if you have to reverse engineer it,
@Radman81264 жыл бұрын
Robin I see what you are saying for sure. How my mind works, I have to think of action, rather than inaction. Do’s rather than don’ts. Thanks for the response!

It's funny because so much of what you said has been said to me by my mother, grandmother, brother, and many close others. Things like being told "There's always been something special about you" "There isn't any room for failure" "Either you're at the top or what's the point?" "You're leaving me all alone" "Well, they shouldn't be in the road" I'm just realizing it, but it helps put the mirror on what I do as well. Awareness of something is so cool.

Interesting video. Several of the tips given here I have already arrived at independently on my own within the last couple years. However, the key to realising those insights was for me something that the video does NOT mention - at least not directly: Once I start viewing my own self as an artificial construct created in part by the cultural influences I have absorbed by the society I grew up in, in part by the specific combination of memories I pick as most important for me and the narrative I actively arrange those in RIGHT NOW, it becomes much easier for me to abandon old habits I know to be harmful and change my routine. Granted, this does in part fall into the "don't dwell under the past" category and most of those insights I've arrived at while meditating just as the video instructs me to but the video does not quite put them in those terms. Once I experienced the type of "ego death" I just described, most of the other advice flowed naturally from that once it "clicked".

Regarding dwelling on the past. I once upset a friend as I told him to go away whilst I made a date with a girl - I was self conscious. Later I lost contact with him. For years I would remember this and regret my actions. One day I met him and took the opportunity to apologize. He didn't remember. :)

I really liked your your tip on managing your anger and giving away the power of your emotions to another person. I used to get super mad as a teen. I actually mashed up my neighbor's apartment window one night when I was a kid since he thought it was funny to lock me out of the building. The lesson I learned from my dad was that you are giving your own powers to some else. You are letting someone else control you and your actions. Never give away your own choice of action and power.
