In this video series I will be building the 'bolt on' 131ci Screamin Eagle stage 4 kit. Once the build is complete & I'm happy with the dyno results I will be making a camshaft swap to the Cyclerama 512 that has been specifically designed for the SE 131ci Engine.
This video is part 1, I take you through a complete time lapse of the engine assembly/build process then, fit up the D&D Fatcat 2-1 exhaust system & get it on the dyno.
I talk through some of the differences between a drop in base map & then a tune that I have done to suit the bike. Trimming the fuel & VE Tables makes a huge difference to the HP & TQ curves as you will get to see first hand.
I was actually surprised at how much power the bike made on the drop in tune, but obviously I wasn't going to leave it that LEAN!!!!
Harley-Davidson & Screamin Eagle have come out swinging with this engine combo!!! The power & torque available is amazing.
I can't wait for to get the Cyclerama 512 Camshaft into this monster because I know for sure we'll be making MORE POWER!!!! Wes Brown really knows his Cams & I for one will vouch for just how SOLID & BROAD the torque curves are from his cam grinds, not mention the power curves that just keep going UP TO THE MOON!
Stay tuned for Part 2 of this build when the cam goes in.

Interesting. I'll watch Parts 2 & 3 also at some point. How does the big bore kits effect the engine temps? Also is the HD oil pump upgrade I see in the parts catalogue recommended? Thanks for the vid. Personally, I think 114 is plenty. I would love to focus on the breathing & fuel performance with thie 114" displacement. High compression is alright if the bike will be long term reliable & can just cruise also around also.= for me!

GREAT channel, I learn a lot from your videos. Thank You! Have two questions. Does the D&D FatCat and D&D LowCat sound similar, do you like one sound over the other? Also, between the FatCat and LowCat, what pipe do you think will perform better on a 2020 Low Rider S 114 Stage 2 with a S&S 475C cam?
@MasterTechMiller
@MasterTechMiller 3 жыл бұрын
The Lowcat would be better suited to the 114ci as it's slightly smaller diameter at the collector. That being said it worked great on my last 128ci Lowrider S. Personally I like the sound better from the Lowcat, not to mention the clearance benefits from the Lowcat.

@@MasterTechMiller Thanks! Planning to instal the 131 kit in my CVO 2018 Street Glide. I am also considering the Feuling 521 cam, and Woods WM8-408. How do you think these will compete with the CR 512? Another one: will the headers in the SE kit work with D&D slip ons?
@MasterTechMiller
@MasterTechMiller 3 жыл бұрын
I'm not too sure how they'll stack up against the CR512 yet as I've not seen the 512 in action yet. However if it is anything like the rest of the CR cams it'll be very solid with a very broad torque curve & a power curve that keeps going to the moon!!! As for the D&D slip on's, they SHOULD fit just fine as the headers that come in the 131 stahe kit are the exact same Headers that Australian Harley's come with from factory.

@MasterTechMiller
@MasterTechMiller 3 жыл бұрын
The construction of the Screamin Eagle 4.310" cylinders is what let's them down compared to the aftermarket. You can have a cylinder with an even larger bore than 4.310" and still have an even thicker liner. Unfortunately SE products are produced on a mass production scale, therfore the design and construction has to be minimal and cost effective. Choosing a cylinder from Alpha Performance Engines (4.250") 128ci has a much better design, much thicker liners and overall surface area. The increase in surface area helps out heaps with cooling aswell. In short....Yes, go with a thicker liner in the cylinder. If that means a slight drop in Cubic inches then so be it.

However you mentioned you would be looking to do something in a couple months time so should you want the chrome one it should work out perfectly with the time line. I spoke to my friend about his opinion on that particular pipe, he has used it before and says it works great with the mid size (107 to 117ci) builds so again it's going to work great with any of those combos should you want one of those combos. It will work with 124ci builds aswell if they are not a very high comp/high output build. I would recommend a Bassani road rage or D&D if it were to be a hi comp setup. Hey mate, the Screamin Eagle pistons are made by MAHLE they're a great piston in my opinion, as for skirt length I've not actually measured it but they are definitely just as long as the CP ones. Pretty amazing difference from a bolt on kit. You have to be able to ride the bike around town and in the rain. I was on my Ps, first bike T250R.

Harley-Davidson motorcycles are not what they used to be! The new frame, brakes & suspension of the new Milwaukee 8 Softail range are outstanding. I highly recommend a test ride of one! You will not be disappointed. As for wanting to ride a bike like this one in the rain, it would be possible if you were careful with the throttle and did not chop at it. That being said, this particular motorcycle will smoke the tyre at 80km/hr, 3rd gear in dry weather.

@@MasterTechMiller If I did upgrade a bike like that Stage 3 would be more than enough. I watched a stage 4 Lowrider video by Laidlaw HD in the US. He made the point a Stage 4 bike had to be ridden hard to make it work properly. Thoughts.
@MasterTechMiller
@MasterTechMiller 3 жыл бұрын
@@MrAndrew1953 It all boils down to how the engine is setup & built from the get go. No matter the displacement. You can have very large cubic capacity engines that are very tame, low compression & will run for years and years. On the other hand you can have a smaller capacity engine built with wide open throttle in mind. It all boils down to the quality of the components used, the engine builder & the desired application. I personally hate the way H-D advertise 'Stage Kits' I get the concept of it and how it relates to the average unbeknown customer who can make a basic identification between stg 3 being better than stg 2. However it is not the case when it comes to engine building. I can build a Milwaukee 8 engine equivalent to that of a H-D stg 2 kit but it will greatly out perform the advertised H-D stg 3 kit. In summary. NO, I don't agree with what Laidlaw said (as you quoted it). I think he would have been generalising when it comes to the average customer and catalog engine builds. So I can understand why he said it that way. I still don't agree with it though.

@@MasterTechMiller I don’t think I’ve misrepresented Mr Laidlaw . In that video he rode that Lowrider stage 4 pretty hard, definitely not cruising. Also said if you weren’t into riding that way, to go for a lower stage kit like a 3.. Most of the Harleys I rode were in the 80s. @@MasterTechMiller US Miami, FL. I just Bought this 883 2021 not really knowing how under powered it is for my first bike but it fit my wife and I wanted to start upgrading it
@MasterTechMiller
@MasterTechMiller 3 жыл бұрын
@@cheyenneobregon184 the reason it says it wont fit is only due to pollution regulations. The kit will still physically fit the motorcycle. Harley-Davidson have to say it won't fit because it doesn't meet your EPA standards. To be honest, If you are looking to keep the motorcycle for at least a few years before upgrading to Softail or Tourer I would recommend just doing the 883 to 1200 conversion kit. It just doesn't come with the CNC ported heads & larger manifold & throttle body. Much cheaper option. Part number for that kit is 29836-10A

New clutch next ?.
@MasterTechMiller
@MasterTechMiller 3 жыл бұрын
Apart from the Screamin Eagle 1275N springs the clutch is stock. They seem to hold up very well with all the massive torque the Milwaukee8 engine produces. Compensator sprokets are the first weak spot. I have personally drag raced many different M8 bikes with only the SE 1275N springs and they have not let me down. Don't get me wrong, the stock clutch is NOT bullet proof and will definitely fail with rider abuse and or negligence. But for a tough street engine the stock clutch with upgraded springs works perfectly

you didnt index plugs..
@MasterTechMiller
@MasterTechMiller 2 жыл бұрын
Mate I'm pretty sure people stopped indexing plugs 20 years ago....the power of modern ignition systems & the amperage they deliver far exceeds the old school systems from back in the day. Not to mention the fact that these M8 heads runs dual plugs in each head. I don't see any benefit whatsoever that aligning the ground strap to face towards the intake valve in an attempt to fully engulf the plug to do what,......provide better combustion? More power? Less emissions? I haven't any solid information that indexing spark plugs is a benefit in today's age. I am eagar to hear and see your proof of how it can be of any benefit.
