It's too bad people can't learn from other people's mistakes especially this day and age with Uber and whatnot. Alcohol has ruined so many lives I understand prohibition but I also understand why you can't ban it and unfortunately it all comes down to personal accountability. Equals unfortunate at the same time as the fact that many people don't think to begin with let alone after they start drinking. My little brother's close friend was paralyzed by drunk driver at Penn State College, all avoidable life-changing events that cause lifelong sadness. It all breaks my heart, I'm guilty of it too when I was younger and finally immature enough to realize how stupid I was and how lucky I was not to hurt anyone besides myself in one instance. I agree. I don't really understand why the family forgave her, unless it is to do with their own grieving process, which is understandable, perhaps. Maybe they are seeking to release the anger in some way and think that forgiving her for their pain and anger will do so? In fact, they are not in a position to forgive her, because the only person who was truly wronged is dead and incapable of doing so, or not. DUI? Leaving the scene? That makes it murder. Also, why aren't the sentences consecutive? Should this perpetrator EVER see the light of day again, they should NEVER have a license again.

It's unfortunate that we live in what we've been taught as "The land of the free and the home of the brave" yet we can't even trust the injustice system. A majority of the comments are praising the judge for doing the job she was sworn in to do, unlike many, many, many others. That speaks volumes. Good to see people who aren't afraid to expose what's really going on in this cruel cruel world we live in. Prayers and condolences to the victims and anyone that's affected by this horrible tragedy. 🙏🏾💪🏾

She got off easy after killing someone especially she was on parole.
@katel730910 ай бұрын
She has to complete her parole time whatever that was, then start the sentence, so it follows on. If she doesn't get parole with the new conviction she could be in jail for thirty years. She is/was 40.
@MrNorthwestern201311 ай бұрын
This did not need to happen. There are numerous options to avoid this disaster but because of that it should be mandatory maximum sentences on all charges.

They should make a law that it's 18 months automatic prison if caught driving drunk (drugs), for the 1 st offense+ the original charges..2nd offense 10 years, 3rd offense, life behind bars!

If you get caught drunk driving driver license should be revoked for a long time.

My God, Just 10 to 15 years for taking a life driving while under the influence and while she was on parole, she does not deserve any mercy or compassion. If she is in pain, that does not give her the right to inflict the same on others. Because of her, a 14-year-old totally innocent teen lost his whole life. How is this justice any way or form?

I can't listen to this judge any longer. This drunk woman took a life and injured 2 others. She should be in jail for life. I'm glad the family can forgive the murderer because that will help them. Judges need to give sentences that punish criminals and make them accountable for their actions.

@securityscorpion868711 ай бұрын

@davidpatterson5426Ай бұрын
No, not long enough for a 3rd offense. Should have been minimum 25 years to life especially since she hurt 2 others and fled the scene.
@brianpedersen4714Ай бұрын
The families had impact and influence on the sentencing. What anyone else thinks beyond them is immaterial.
@hunterluxton597614 күн бұрын
What needs to be addressed is the issue of intention. If there was no intent to kill, then the actions must be assessed upon the lower culperbility of recklessness. This was manslaughter, not murder and the sentence should reflect that fault element in the offence. Surely 30 years for manslaughter is disproportunate and unjust?
@WanyeGrey-x3n11 ай бұрын
I have nothing but contempt for hit and run drunk drivers who kill - I lost my beloved uncle to a drunk driver he only got 18 months - worse thing was he served less than a year - he should have gotten a longer sentence
