My gf got a ticket one day driving 102 in a 75 on I17 outside Phoenix, the trooper warned her that over 100 is usually strait to jail. She pulled over and apologized and got a $460 ticket. That was it, on our way in 25 minutes.

ASP doesn't keep the highway closed for long in cases like this. They'll typically pull their cruisers to one of the shoulders after they've secured the suspects and if the wrecked car is blocking the highway they'll try to push it off with a cruiser or at least open one lane. A lot of agencies could learn a thing or two from ASP.

I am so glad that there are departments that PIT at practically any speed. California highway patrol will not PIT above 35 MPH, since someone told them it is deadly force. If you are driving at 100 MPH, that in itself is deadly force if they crash into someone else. If the suspect is injured or killed, as long as the public is not endangered, I feel that is acceptable. I know the police do not want to injure or kill the suspect, but they also don’t want the public endangered more.

In contrary to what a lot of people think, the pit maneuver is a relatively safe maneuver considering the speeds involved. ASP typically takes great care and when they do put somebody in a high-speed they tried to put them into a wall or something like that so the car doesn't roll. But then again if you die because of your stupidity then you ain't got nobody to blame
