I was a sephora and Ulta junkie, daily full glam makeup for over 10 years and I couldn't believe everything I was hearing :( Perfumes, body sprays, I had it alll. I put a HALT after watching you, stopped using 95% of my stuff, ordered a ton of new makeup, bodycare, skincare, haircare, new cookware and clothes! I couldn't believe the plastic in clothes! I was a die hard Lulu girl, but not anymore and now I'm trying to find the best leggings out there, as well as undergarments and pjs. It's crazy how much polyester is out there and on our bodies while we sleep, workout, etc. I'm trying to do it all, thanks to you :) My husband thinks im crazy, but I am very passionate about this :) Can you please do more videos on brands/items carried in Sephora and Ulta? Henna and/or indigo but you better do a strand test on some hairbrush hair before you commit because they are permanent for real. My hair was never healthier than when I used them.

Becareful with henna, you definitely need to commit and you absolutely cannot put any blonde/highlights in your hair until the henna has grown out of your hair.

Thank you for sharing! Sugary and artificially-sweetened beverages are sources of additives like colors, which have been shown to affect behavior in children so I would avoid them as much as possible. Canned beverages can be sources of BPA as well, so regular consumption can lead to exposure.

Unless it’s a scent derived from 100% natural ingredients then it’s going to disrupt your endocrine system. I make my own body butter- I’m actually making some today! I could add essential oils to it but I like the natural smell it already has (chocolate). I’ve found natural perfumes but none that I love yet… also be careful of oil based perfumes even if they claim to be natural- you want to know what carrier oil they used to make it. Sometimes they will use soy 🤪

I’ve been on this journey overtime swapping out chemical products for organic products. Because of your videos, I’ve recently switched to all stainless steel cookware. Would you consider doing a video on the healthiest safest, shampoos and conditioners that work well especially moisturizing shampoos? I’ve done a lot of research. I use organic shampoos and conditioners that aren’t tested on animals. So far, I’ve not found a healthy shampoo/conditioner that moisturizes well. My hair is breaking and brittle and I want to find one brand or two that work so I can remain healthy and happy. Thanks for tuning in! This is a great question. Evidence suggests that certain ingredients in dishwasher detergents and rinse aids contribute gut damage. One study states, “The alcohol ethoxylates present in the rinse aid were identified as the culprit component causing the epithelial inflammation and barrier damage.” I’ve got a few dishwasher products linked on my website. I would start by avoiding “fragrance” and searching for “organic shampoo” when you’re ready to swap. This way you’ll avoid creating waste and excess cost. We can’t avoid plastic entirely, but being conscious of our choices and avoiding as much as possible is the best bet.

Hi there!! I’m in Canada.. I am very curious about your opinion on menstrual cups. I use two types of silicone cups, are they safe? If not, what types of products would you recommend? The other product I have concerns about is Invisalign which I have been wearing to straighten my teeth for the last year. I will have them removed soon, but will have to wear a retainer which is also plastic (basically like a mouthguard) at night. Alternatively, I could use a Hawley retainer but that is also partially plastic. I have had a hard time finding evidence regarding safety of these oral products. Thank you for all you do. I have been making the switch to toxin free products for the last few weeks and it has been very helpful for me to view your videos.

Hey Dr Yvonne, thank you for your work. Thanks to your videos, my wife and I realised how much we are exposed to toxic products. I also completely agree that unfortunately, we live in a world where we can not avoid all type of toxic ingredients and products. You say that we just do our best out of the options we have. Also that it's a question of priority and preference. (Ex. Is using product A with toxic ingredients more important than not using it according to your values and priorities) I know it's a personal question, but I'm curious, why do you still use make up when you have the option to stay away from it? From what I understood from your other vidoes, your belief and values hold such an important place in your personal life. I'd like to ask you what value or priority is more important that you're willing to still put make up on yourself? I understand that, as a man, there may be cultural and societal aspects to it and I'd like to understand your point of view on this.

💯 we should strive for glass or metal as they’re more sustainable but the majority of beauty products are in plastic.

Can you explain WHY these toxins are used? Is it cheaper than using ingredients that dont harm the consumer? Why are parabens and phthalates the status quo?
