Dr. Burkart, It's always a validating experience to hear your online lectures. I wish I could shove this information down everyone's throat, because I'm SICK TO DEATH of being forced to breathe in toxins for the sake of vanity at the expense of my health. Fragrance has significantly decreased my overall quality of life due to it triggering asthma attacks, migraine headaches and chest pain from COPD. Many people suffer in real time when we smell this brand of poison. I often avoid social gatherings and have gone so far as to avoid seeking medical attention at offending medical offices and hospitals. I have lost over $10,000 at Airbnbs and the like because of a 'stinking pretty' accommodation. It can take hours for me to recover from these experiences, depending on the time frame and if I already have an accumulation of fragrance chemicals in my body. I can't thank you enough for the amount of sacrifices you have certainly made to excel in both academia and in practise that's easily recognised by the plethora of information that you share with us on your broadcasts.

Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us Dr. Burkart. I quit smoking 8 months ago, and have been trying my best to clear up any additional toxins in my life. The less stress on my lungs (while they heal) the better. I realize the damage is done, but I will still do all of what you are suggesting here to help my lungs heal. I also knit and crochet which means I am in contact with thousands of meters of acrylic and polyester fibres (depending on the yarn I am using) and it's right upfront and personal, right infront of my face and nose. I always notice that I can get a stuffy nose from knitting - and it's not because my head is lowered for a prolonged period of time... it's because of the thousands of nano fibres and plastic particles I am working with and manipulating right below my respiratory system. I never get a stuffy nose or irritation when I am knitting with 100% natural fibres like wool or cotton. Is there research on this? Most "Micheals" yarn (100% of it) is acrylic and polyester and the most commonly used - also most economic for most crafters. Siting down and knitting or crocheting for hours every day is just crazy to think about how much is inhaled. This is potentially a huge issue I think - the knitting/crochet community is large and growing and this is super important information for them!
