1 - Nerede Kaldın? (Where did you stay?): This is actually another colloquial phrase that means “What took you so long?” or “Why are you so late?”. We used the actual meaning in the video in order not to confuse you.
2 - Gelin / Damat (Bride / Groom): While normally used in a wedding context like in English, these words are also used to address or refer to someone who has joined an extended family via marriage. So, for instance, a man who marries someone in the family becomes a “damat (groom)” in that family. This expression is especially used by mothers-in-law and fathers-in-law.
Example: Benim gelinim çok iyi kalplidir, oğlumun kalbini hiç kırmaz. (My bride is very good-hearted; he never breaks my son’s heart.)
