I’m surprised Moshe doesn’t acknowledge the AAVE origins of a lot of this slang. “Periodt” is obviously appropriated from Black Women, & these things are picked up by young white TiKTok creators & then dubbed “Gen Z” slang. But the origins of MOST American “culture” have always been the Black community.

I'm a night owl and my husband is a morning person (typical Virgo, lol.) It used to create strife but after we almost split up for other reasons, we practice what I think of as "radical acceptance." We appreciate each other, warts and all, and stopped bickering over stuff that isn't important, we spend time together without keeping exactly the same sleep schedule.

I'm so annoyed at the first guest that it took 5 minutes before it got to the point that it wasn't the mom taking care of the kids in the morning and that the wife is just loud and the guy doesn't sleep in that late. You're only a "gamer" if you stream while playing, otherwise you're just a person who's plays video games. Also "take several seats" is an extension of "take a seat." You messed up so you need to take a seat but you're SO messed up you need to take several seats. "Sending me" is derived from "sending me over the edge." And "Bussin" is used to describe way more than just food lol.

"This hits different" is mostly used when you see something you used to really like, but with today's perspective is totally fucked up and inappropriate. So ironic for the person who's giving the slang test to get it wrong 😆 the point is for older generations to not use the new slang, people have a harder time accepting their age nowadays, especially in places like LA. Just keep talking the way you always have, let the newer generations take over like they're supposed to. You have your wisdom, be proud of it.
