St1ka, I read your posts all the time on Twitter questioning why your videos aren't doing better. When you do videos as "Premiere" it alerts your subscribers at the point its uploaded. Say, it doesn't start for a few hours or a day; when it is available to watch, youtube doesn't re-remind subscribers. Ultimately, your video gets buried under newer videos. This happens a lot with your videos. I don't remember you had a new video coming out and out of sight, out of mind. I am subscribed but I'm also subscribed to hundreds of other channels. And for me, your video gets buried.

Great point! I do premieres an hour before it goes live so it's floating around the top of subscriptions still, and just make a post about it the day beforehand

17:40 - Blades of Vengeace (Sega Mega Drive) This game also has a cool feature: After completing half the game, you can buy a very expensive “armor set” (from the merchant between levels) - Equipment that greatly changes your character! At the beginning of the game there is a choice of 3 characters, and so, the weakest Grandfather-Bum, having bought equipment, he turns into fucking Gandalf! and casts deadly spells! The woman gets a crossbow, and the man with an ax... I can't remember what... the player begins to save a lot of money in order to buy this improvement as soon as it is available. This is a really cool game.

I was one of the people who pre-ordered Super Fighter Team's planned release of Vixen 357 in English, so I can tell you what happened. Simply put, SFT head Brandon Cobb prided himself on being able to always stick to his original scheduled release dates for everything he & his team ever put out. For whatever reason, though, Vixen 357 took longer than planned to get ready, but instead of simply announcing a delay Brandon decided to simply cancel the entire thing, since he felt that he has broken the trust he had earned after so many years. Yeah, this was seriously what SFT said in the e-mail sent out to people who pre-ordered Vixen. I can respect the code of honor from Brandon Cobb in a sense, but I don't think anyone would have complained if he had simply delayed the release, if there were problems. Considering the fact that Super Fighter Team has literally only released an enhanced version of Sango Fighter & the promotional manhua for Super Fighter since Vixen's cancellation, both of which are 100% free to download on SFT's website, I do wonder if there was something else behind Vixen's cancellation & Brandon decided to keep the reason simple.

Dark Wizard still has a cult following. If someone made a modern remake of that one, using the same structure but with a smarter AI and modern graphics that game would be a massive success among SRPG fans. In fact, the AI is the one thing keeping it back from being a near perfect masterpiece for its time (It charges straight at your ruler and ignores the towns and cities unless in the path to your ruler). Everything else in that game is excellent.
@st1ka2 ай бұрын
I was sad that Dark Wizard wasn't included in the Mega Drive Mini 2. It really should have been there.
@MidnightBlackandVictoria2 ай бұрын
@@st1ka Yeah, as it was in its time a real gem. I actually remember pre-ordering it at an Electronics Boutique when it released....Wow I'm getting long in the tooth.... With the success of recent games like Triangle Strategy, Unicorn Overlord, and the SRPG masterpiece Fire Emblem 3 houses (which is the highest selling game of its genre ever) hopefully developers will see there is a market for this genre of games more than ever before. Dark Wizard did more right than it got wrong. The review you did was spot-on. A modern remake of this title would be a GotY contender....Heres hoping some talented developer somewhere realizes this and gives it a modern remake. Hell, its probably public domain by now. I forget how many years before a license is public domain, but even still if it isnt it would be worth the investment to get the rights and do it again.

Hyper Iria: it's a nice game, but the slowdown sometimes really sucks. It's not because the system can't handle it (it's technically a low tier game), it's because of wrong/bad coding. Remember games like Rendering Ranger or the DK trilogy f.e., they run perfect without any slowdown.

For Legendary Axe 2, one of the main things people get divisive about in regards to the game is the fact that apparently it's not a sequel to the first game at all in Japan, the two games have different names & are not linked to each other. Personally, I prefer Legendary Axe 2(or Ankoku Densetsu as that game is known in Jp), but both are great games. And the second game uses the same sound engine as Dungeon Explorer and the first two Bonk games among various other games. It's honestly one of my favorite sound engines on the PCE. Very powerful and atmospheric. For Gunforce, correct me if I'm wrong but I believe both Gunforce games are ultimately spiritual prequels to Metal Slug. If I'm remembering right, some of the guys that made those games went on to make the Metal Slug series, so the focus on vehicles is definitely no surprise.

11:38 Holy shit, it's nice to see this version of Jurassic Park getting some recognition. It took me YEARS to beat as a child, and definitely felt like an achievement. Those later levels with the velociraptors terrified me as an eight year old. I had to take so many breaks just to get my heart rate down. And as far as the sewer "not being that difficult", for an adult, yes. For a five year old child, damn it took me FOREVER to learn the layout of that damn sewer, and far too long to figure out how to get inside. The second level was no joke for obtusity either, what with the need to collect EVERY single one of those damn berries for the giant triceratops, but once I got past the first level, the rest were far more straightforward in comparison, except maybe for the final one.

I have played Run Sabre and it's cool and fun game. I also played Wings of Wor. A lot of these games I heard of but never played and others I haven't seen before. Good video as always!

There was a mech game for SNES, made by Lucas Arts, that looked EXACTLY like "Night Salve", but minus all the anime.

Hah that's metal warriors. Great game, but plays a bit differently imo ^^

Thanks for sharing all these cool games. I probably would never have found any of them on my own.

I remember playing Dark Wizards as a child. The first map took hours to get though and I always felt like I was playing it wrong.

Yeah the game is a huge timesink, but it's very enjoyable

Wow, that Jurassic Park game looks awesome. I wish Limited Run had included it in the Jurassic Park Collection. I love your other other selections as well with some featuring beautiful anime art. :)

Limited run actually left quite a few games out of their collection, I believe it doesn't include the third mega drive game or the Sega CD game for example

Iria is my favorite anime of all time! I never knew there was a game of it!

Good stuff. I have Wings of Wor and beat it and own Blades Of Vengeance in my To Do pile. Might wanna do Son Son 2 and The Legendary Axe II. Good recommends. And thanks for mentioning Daemon Claw. I had the kickstarter backed and it looks good from the info they showed. I think i heard it from you're community posts. Its like months ago so I cant recall.

I can't wait until Daemon claw is out

The protagonist in Lionheart looks like a cross between He-Man and Lion-O (more He-Man in the play segments, more Lion-O in the cutscenes). Definitely feels like it could have at least started off as a game they were trying to get licensed.

Yep you can tottally see the influence

The Iria anime, both short movie and series are good. Total 90s action anime at its best

I love and hate notifications. Love that I can see content I want to see. Hate that every time I see it, I have to wait, and by the time it happens, I've been distracted and miss it.

Awesome awesome video. Love that you include naughty Pc98 games, too. I have to admit though that lionheart is not exactly an hidden gem to me, especially since it was acclaimed in reviews at the time. Anyway, great bunch and I'm definitely going to test e few.

The thing about Amiga games is that Amiga gamers know them, but people outside Amiga circles don't 😅

I remember my brother and I watched Iria during Christmas break last year. Had thoughts about revisiting the Super Nintendo game after watching this video.

But hey, after watching the video, there are definitely some games I want to play! Gotta go play Briganty on my laptop after this!
