I’ve listened to this case twice, two things stand out to me and are bothering me: 1) when being abducted how often does someone take their purse??? Very very odd that she would grab her purse while being abducted. 2) when her sister called to see if she needed a ride home her sister said Lynn was very short with her over the phone. Why was that and did she say yes I need a ride? I truly feel she was taken by someone she knew because she took her coat, gloves and purse as if she was leaving to get a ride home with someone. Abductor’s usually don’t allow you to grab your purse, jacket and gloves. Those pieces of info really bothers me A LOT!

Her jacket missing can be easily explained by the fact that she did have a habit of walking outside to help her patrons. She would have put her jacket on with it being cold out that night. The purse is a bit more strange unless the perpetrator just thought to grab it on the way out the door, thinking there might be money in it but didn't want to waste time looking through it at the store.

It's someone she knows. You don't usually take your purse when being abducted at knife/gunpoint. Maybe she was lured outside to chat, and the keys to lock up the store were in her purse. Maybe she thought was was about to get a prom invitation.
@ihaveanidea6930 Жыл бұрын
I could see someone saying "grab your coat" to her as they escorted her out the door. Maybe her purse was with her coat and it was easy to grab both on the way out. It's not unheard of for bad people to have reasonable manners and it might have played into 2 things, 1 his infliction of fear into her, and 2 she wouldn't look odd to people in the parking lot or passersby out in the weather without a coat. Thought of 1 more, the coat could also help conceal the weapon if there was one as the perp lead her to his car. I think this was someone with experience, they where cool calm and collected and kept things under control. It doesn't feel like the same guy who tried to kidnap the collage girl, he was messy and unprepared for a fight. I think this guy had a plan and knew exactly where he was going and what he was going to do with her.

Lynn's disappearance is still well known in the area to this day. We'd all like to know what happened to her, I remember passing by the billboard on Curran highway some time ago. I didn't talk much with him, but Perry Burdick was a teacher at McCann tech when I went and seemed like a good man.

After 40 years the identity of the perpetrator most likely will never be known. If Lynn would've been 58 then that person would be at least that old most likely older. It's doubtful they're alive. This is a sad case similar to thousands of missing people all over this country who no trace has ever been found.
@SerpentNight2 жыл бұрын
I'm afraid I agree. Even if she's found any foreign DNA would have eroded by now. Unless someone makes a credible confession I doubt we'll ever know for sure.
@chelseamercer38252 жыл бұрын
Old cases like this give me the chills. I sadly don't doubt that Lynn was likely taken out of Florida, and then murdered shortly after her kidnapping. If she had been living in a more urban area I may have suspected human trafficking but not so much considering that she was from a very rural community

The detail that bothers me is the purse... Why wasn't it left behind? I assume it was initially put aside with the other items, like her unfinished book. Imagine that you are a woman brutally abducted in your workplace after a robbery, would the perpetrator leave you the opportunity to grab it before tossing you inside his vehicle? Why would he allow such a thing to happen? As strange as it sounds, my hunch is that she was lured out. But then, it doesn't explain the money's disappearance, unless she took the notes with her and put them in said purse before going out, instead of the criminal directly extorting them. This scenario would look less like a robbery and more like a blackmail scheme to me... Perhaps she was manipulated, and before she even had a chance to put it a stop, she had to play along? Then again, I try to think outside the box, but there's close to nothing to go by...

Thank you for bringing attention to this . I do realize that the suspect pool is limited, but I kept thinking of television shows such as Forensic Files and others. In many of those programs, sexual predators kidnappers and murderers are prosecuted and sent to prison. My point is, Lynn's abductors now be sitting in prison and may know of her whereabouts. It's just an angle which you may consider. I wish you all of good fortune in finding this innocent woman.

It's sad she was never found, I've heard of people finding remains and not saying any thing to police and just burying them / pouring foundations over them as to not slow down work progress. I'm sure it happens more in bigger cities, but I imagine a lot of development has happened in 40 years in that area too. It always freaks me out that construction crews can just tear down houses and buildings without doing walk thru inspections, some guys dont even call out inside the structure before starting demo. It's easy to see why people are sometimes never found.

Though a random abduction is possible i agree with some people that it seems to be odd Lynn's jacket and purse would be took with her. Just makes me think it was likely some 1 she knew and trusted. Could it be possible someone posing as an officer came in that night. All he would have to do is tell lynn she was needed at home or there was some kind of emergency and to go with him. I could see someone grabbing their purse and leaving sharpish in this situation. Just a thought. I do hope something is found soon and lynn her family and friends get the closure they all so deserve ❤

I know this may sound callous but i think whoever took Lynn, he took her to stop her from raising the alarm that he'd robbed the store. I think her persuaded her he wasnt going to hurt her & it was just until he cleared the area & hed drop her some where shed be able to get home, hence her taking her coat & handbag. Something happened or she tried to escape or had done something to attract attention. I feel he killed her not long afterwards, either shooting her or stopping & strangling her & throwing her into a deep road side ditch. If her town was a little isolated & there were a few miles of ditches ( which occur when agricultural fields are on each side of the road). With the incoming storm, a deep ditch maybe filled with mud & water & the weight of her body & subsequent covering of snow if it was a snowstorm then the finding of a body along miles of desolate roads would have been A very difficult task. It seems the search went on a long time with no results & with hope, people were introducing different senarios However, most abduction cases sadly result in same day/night Ending of life. I dont think sex trafficking was as rife in the early 1980s as it is today, although it did go on. Im sad to think these things but i honestly feel Lynn was killed the Night she was abducted although maybe her death hadnt been contemplated by the abductor & he just wanted a quick getaway with a hostage who would raise the alarm if hed left her. Something changed all that & shes not in some preplanned place but out of sight in a very ordinary place just off the road & only a few miles of her town. Its so very very sad that this lovely young woman with such promise ahead of her was snatched away from all who loved her & her life snuffed out. Thank you Steve, enjoyed this case , it always sounds macabre Saying that in murder/missing cases but you & all of your fans know what i mean 🇬🇧👧

As a dad, I can't imagine how much this would devastate me to lose a child but with that being said, I don't understand the view of the father, Rufus. He states that he feels like everyone is forgetting Lynn, well yeah that's life, random people aren't going to go through every day wondering about a missing girl. People everywhere are dealing with their own problems, it's expected that the public will forget about a missing girl from. a one horse town after years have passed. I don't understand the bitterness of families when they make these kind of statements.
