When Babylon fell to the Persians, it marked the end of the exile of God's people, as Cyrus the Persian announced that any who wished to return to Jerusalem were encouraged to do so. Cyrus therefore represents a great blessing for those who had been so long separated from their home, and for this he is honored with the title "messiah" by the prophet Isaiah, the only non-Jew in the Old Testament to recieved such a stamp of approval. @Grendel-td5nf
@Grendel-td5nf 8 ай бұрын
@@SG74xStayonthegolc this is strangely hard to answer….. I have hard time believing in the Christian God. Of the Bible. We are made sinful, through no fault of our own, and are then punished for being how we are made and only way out of punishment is through compulsory love for Jesus. All this because God’s first two humans disobeyed him. Also the God of OT seems very different from NT God. Wrath and justice vs. love and forgiveness. Mostly though, I don’t feel anything. Never had any spiritual event like many of my Christian friends/family have had.

@@Grendel-td5nf sounds like you really reject original sin doctrine & the Calvinism it promotes, neither of which are biblical, even if most of Christendom sadly embraces them.
@jchalk7789
@jchalk7789 Ай бұрын
@@Grendel-td5nf it’s possible that you might’ve been fed false information or misconceived the Bible concept. So the Bible doesn’t show us to be sinful through no fault of our own. The Bible actually says that we are created upright, but we searched out many inventions. So we become sinful because we do what our emotions drive us to do. So when our mother tells us not to take a cookie from the cookie jar, we take it and become a thief, she ask us if we took one and we say no! And we become a liar, and the process goes on and on. Until we are filled with all kinds of sin and unrighteousness. also my friend it wasn’t a matter of Adam and Eves disobeying. It was because of free will. God gave us free will, and he told them they could do anything, but don’t touch the tree that contained the knowledge of good and evil, let me rephrase that. The tree that had the ability to expose your naïve mind to the endless stress that comes from the knowledge good and evil. So at that moment or consumption. They became fully aware of all the possibilities of good and also the concept of all the evils that have ever existed. Talk about blowing your mind. Also the old testament isn’t God putting out his rules. It’s God showing them how to live in a fallen world. A world full of all the evil that was perceived by Adam and Eve in the garden. So wrath and judgement is fart of a fallen world, and mercy and forgiveness is part of the redemption to the fallen world given by Gods sacrifice for us. So like a friend taking a bullet. That’s what God did on the cross. He became part of the fallen world as a man, and lived a life sinless, but then he died in our place, talking the penalty that we deserved for our sin on his person, and paying the penalty that we deserve for all the evil we’ve done. Being born into a new life with him. Theres only two races. The fallen human race and the redeemed race as sons of God by adoption, through Jesus.

Thank you brother. I teach sometimes and enjoy being able to give those with me the back ground and history of the time. The students have remarked that knowing the back ground information has brought the scriptures more alive to them. They could better identify with the church then and be strengthened in their faith today. A brother wrote that we stand on the shoulders of our brothers and sisters before us, therefore we see further. This is true when we learn from them....thank you for giving us their history so we may stand firmly on those shoulders.

Thank you so much, Mr. Gore, for your divinely inspired lectures. I came to your work first through your philosophy videos. I am curious to see if you connect Old Testament scripture in any way to early Greek philosophy. Would you give any credibility to the theory of a common origin for international philosophies/religions in Neo-Babylon? I have heard that an exchange of cultures and ideas among Jewish prophets, Chinese thinkers, Hindus, Persians, and Greeks in Babylon during the sixth century could explain the nearly simultaneous rise of Buddhism, Confucianism, Orphean mystery religion, Zoroastrianism, etc. Do you know any good scholarly works that argue for this theory?
@GoreBruce
@GoreBruce 8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! The only case I've ever heard on that point is purely circumstantial. I've never seen a credible case made based on actual sources, just coincidence. (It is, however, a remarkable coincidence!). Thanks again!

Hi Bruce, Thanks again for the great lecture - for through you the message from Mathew 24:36 is fulfilled - with regards to Jospehus - I have read his entire works - i noticed that he discusses all the details of the bible from creation - one issue i noticed - when moses gets the 10 commandments from God (YHWH) - i was taught that when he returned the people had returned to worshiping a golden calf - in Josephus account he makes not such mention of the anger of Moses / destruction of 10 commandments - what's your thoughts? thanks. God Bless. Ever notice that Ancient Egyptian and Hebrew hide the vowels?
@GoreBruce
@GoreBruce 6 жыл бұрын
If you've read much of Josephus, you'll notice that he does tend to 'spin' his accounts a bit more favorably to his Jewish tradition than the Old Testament does. He's still a great source, but his bias needs to be taken into account.

It is not likely that Cambyses had any children (at least, children who became important in history). King Darius was a general who served under Cambyses, and who deposed and killed the usurper who seized the Persian throne after the death of Cambyses, commonly known as pseudo-Smerdis.

Please would you communicate with me if you see this appeal Mr Gore? Regarding Joel 2:28 also written Acts 2:17 as scripture reads in the last days.. this is the last days of world rule. Prior to this two men must be led by the spirit of our Elohim to be guided by God's holy spirit. My mother, a companion and I also were spoken to by Almighty God by means of a messenger. I was told to remove my shoes as were Moses and Joshua before entering before the presence or to be instructed by God. It was June 1966. I was told about the second coming of our Messiah as written in prophesy. I was told the name I must speak when praying to my Elohim. I remember that name to be Yahuvavhey-nissi-yireh written in scripture as Jehovah-Jireh written in Genesis 22:14. This represents Abraham building and altar and dedicating it to the Lamb of God our Kristos. And Exodus 17:15;16 I was told (Jehovah-nissi) represents the Lamb as King will defeat Satan because it is his hand that is against the throne of God. Amalek is obviously all the warmongering slaughterers of this world who will stand against the incoming rule of the Mighty Kingdom of God. These opposers are to be battled and brought down along with Satan by the heavenly army having all power bestowed upon them by Yahuvavhey or Yahweh our God. Please would you communicate further with me?

At 31:19, this dude says Joshua was worried about the credibility of Moses because of the 70. This isn't what scripture says. Joshua is concerned that two (Eldad and Medad) were prophesying and wanted Moses to tell those two to stop. Moses responds that he thinks Joshua is envious and then says the part about the spirit going to everyone. If you read the whole story here, Moses is tired of dealing with the congregation. He wanted God to kill him, so of course he would tell Joshua that he would rather the spirit go to everyone. Much different story in scripture than the one this dude portrays. Always confirm Bible stories when someone tells them. Even with people like this speaker, you will find they will often misrepresent scripture. I like listening to this guy, but he definitely throws his own opinions into the teachings. Numbers 11:27-29 KJV - And there ran a young man, and told Moses, and said, Eldad and Medad do prophesy in the camp. And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his young men, answered and said, My lord Moses, forbid them. And Moses said unto him, Enviest thou for my sake? would God that all the LORD'S people were prophets, and that the LORD would put his spirit upon them!
