@carlosurbina62464 ай бұрын
The scene of the special prayer is as perfect as humanly possible because it expresses the intrinsic nature of prayer, to 'become like little children '. Another important aspect of prayer exhibited is that it was not for herself. The third aspect was the closing hallelujahs, a word that means praise Jah or Yahve or God as a distinct person who actually hears. That praise at the end of her prayer meant 'it's a done deal'. Just that scene justifies the existence of Hollywood, yeah with all its flaws.
@one4allfour14 ай бұрын
@carlosurbina6246 🥹 and your own heartfelt, thoughtful description (explanation) of this beautiful scene is partly why I chose this “Hollywood”movie to upload and share with you and others. I wonder if my interpretation of your thoughts might be close to, or maybe even help to add to, what you said? …“Child-like” (not child-ish) is what keeps us lovingly near to our Creator, and Inspired to love others more than ourselves (putting their needs before our own)…? I’m so glad you enjoyed this movie! I know you would LOVE it’s book, by Gene Stratton Porter 😀

I was so amazed and inspired by her descriptive, inspiring writing and wonderful story I’ve been able to share her books with many others over the years! She taught me so much through her writings about natural history. Eventually I learned how to “grow” ;) my own Black Swallowtail Butterflies and capture their life cycles with family-and my students when I was teaching-unforgettable moments thanks to a very special pioneering woman!

Thanks a ton for the download. A delightful, heart-warming film, wonderfully educational for kids and adults alike. If Wikipedia's report that "the common view was that the film was overall unremarkable and was 'best for the hinterlands" is accurate, I am really surprised. Lots of fine acting, but little Joan Carroll steals the show by a country mile, and was well worth the ticket price all by herself. She even gave Shirley Temple a run for her money.

+flyinspirals Im so glad I could give you and your Mom some happy movies. Honestly, I watch or listen to good Classic movies over and over because it's much better to have these things in your mind (just my opinion) than what is on cable tv or over the air tv. Thank you for telling me about your Mom and You and all your pets! My sister and I, always, thanks to our Mom and Dad, had lots of pets, too! My Dad is a retired Park Ranger in Michigan so we grew up loving and respecting nature and animals. I don't know how many times my Dad helped us mend and grow baby birds, then release them, or give in to us on another animal or bird ;) Though we grew up in Detroit (my Dad commuted to the Park were he worked) we had and loved a wonderful bird dog, hamsters (Mom said no mice!), guinea pigs, parakeets, kittens, turtles, fish, and even a turtle dove named We would save our allowance for doing chores and walk up to the Woolworth by our house and pick out a new animal or fish or bird whenever our stock got too low (our bird dog liked to thin our herd) if she could sneak up to our bedroom...oh the heartbreak of finding a cage overturned, and empty! Many times my Dad had to rehabilitate animals and birds. I remember a bald eagle, an owl, and of course deer were everywhere! My husband and I let our children grow up having a variety of pets also (as much for me as for them, I think!) I'll keep searching for and adding great movies with children and animals. Be sure to go through my Playlist as you'll find Shirley Temple Movies, also! (My Great Aunt LOVED her ;-)

one4allfour1 Hi, loved your comment. Sure is a blessing to be raised that way. I was raised by my grandma on a farm. We had many barn cats. When I was very small I slept with grandma and I would bring kittens into the bed and put them at the foot of the bed so grandma wouldn't know. But they always crawled up and grandma would get mad,but she never made me take them out. We still have too many animals. Have had the usual cats and dogs, horses cows pigs, then as an adult hamsters, squirrels, guinea pigs ( even a Peruvian) and a baby muskrat! I tell people our hearts are bigger than our brains! But we have enjoyed all our fur babies. Bless you, thanks for your movies.

Thought this movie so sweet and how about the early rift between the "farmer" class and the non-labor bus class. I found a Imperial Moth and it led me to another of Gene Stratton-Porter's books, "A Girl of the Limberlost". Way ahead of her time in so many ways.
@one4allfour110 жыл бұрын
I so agree about her being ahead of her time. If you're able to, read more of her writings, I think you would really enjoy "The Keeper of the Bees", "Freckles", and "The Harvester". I found almost all her books on eBay. I've learned soooo much about Nature because of her! I even began, years ago after reading "Freckles" and 'A Girl of the Limberlost" planting parsley among my grapevines and veggies to attract Black Swallowtails. Every year they lay their eggs on my parsley and I take the caterpillars into a jar when they're ready to secrete their cocoons around themselves. My whole family and my little preschool students over the years have watched the miracle of their cycle of emerging as tiny, wet little things, then watching their wings slowly fluttering back and forth, growing larger and larger. I eventually learned that I could gently coax them onto my finger. They turn themselves upside down, their little feet clinging gently (I can "feel" their feet as I recall this to you! I also learned that if we put them outside in the sun they dry out much quicker and they seem to vibrate in the light or heat! Lightbulbs work, too. And when they right themselves, they are ready to fly. When they take off into the sky, there is no feeling like this as well. You've been priveledged to take part in the miracle of "Rebirth"!

I'm so glad!! Could I offer another one of her books (ok...3!) that are my favorites (though I LOVE almost all of them) "Michael O'Halloran", "A Girl of the Limberlost", and "Freckles". They would all be wonderful to read to, or be read by your Grandaughter. Keepsakes for sure! (You would LOVE them, too, if you liked Laddie. "Keeper of the Bees", the book, is almost nothing like the movie I've added to our Classics list. The book story is intricate, encouraging, and a story you'll never forget, I promise :-) Oh, and p.s., a very affordable place to locate these books is Ebay! (I try to buy only by 1st or 2nd editions, hardbacks, of my favorite books. Sounds like you feel the same way.) I think Classics deserve to be passed on to loved ones, and paper-backed or cheapily bound reprints just aren't the same ;-) You'll be surprised at the 100+ year old book deals you can find on Ebay.

Laddie is my favorite of all Gene Stratton-Porter books. It has so many more tales in it that could never be put into one movie. This is just one story line in the book. Go read!

I completely agree with you! So many "pictures" she paints with words. And the life-lessons she gently weaves into this story--so rich. She was such a gifted writer and amazing woman! I treasure her other books as well...they are on my mantle and all read at least once every year. When I finish one of her books I feel a bit sad...until I pull down another to read ;-)
