The core of the Telecaster bridge pickup sound comes from the metal plate that’s on the underside of the pickup itself - which figures into how the electrical signal reacts inside the pickup - not from being mounted inside the metal bridge.

The string ferrule plug may be from string spacing differences between bridges. Also the truss rod sticking out of the bottom could be from shaving the neck heel down since Teles and Strats have different heels.

Hey, i totally get that it can often be considered taboo to some people to talk about price, but I would bet a LOT of people would LOVE to know what you pay for a lot of your Vintage finds. I believe you have mentioned your purchase price/cost on an item in some videos here and there in the past, but I know I've always wondered what you've paid in like, ever video of yours I've watched. I am aware that the market for these changes often, but still, I find that information very intriguing. (I completely understand and respect if that is something you are not wanting to discuss in your videos) Oh, and I have always thoroughly enjoyed your choice of riffs/noodling in each of your videos. Your choice of riffs have always been perfectly appropriate for the Guitar or Amp that you are choosing to review or speak about. I am also guilty of stealing a riff or two from you as well! lol Thanks Matt!

I personally think the string through block was because it was a 58 top-load bridge. Take one of the ferrules out, it should have a larger hole which would be standard for the Strat hardtail ferrules. A concerning feature is the truss rod bolt, its too close to the surface of the board - that board has been sanded to buggery in a fret job. You can see it also at the plug end. The problem here is that the rod really doesn't have a lot of room to resist the wood when tightened. We see it often and they almost always give way eventually, sadly. I tend to think this may also explain the higher dots coming out - wood has moved slightly. . The blackguard has been moved forward to hide the rounded heel so it doesn't align with the control plate. I'm sure this was an instrument for a working pro who broke the original neck in the UK. That bridge surround in scratchplate ply is typical of English luthiery (Burns etc) in the 60/70's.
@cgavin1

+1 on this assessment. I've seen that scratchplate "fix" too many times to count and it's a peculiarly Limey habit.
