Kind a forget sometimes watching in this episode as you got your family... wife... kids... dogs you juggle with giving time and attention besides working a job!!! And throw in some time for you to kick back and enjoy the other parts of life... and then... dang... entertain all a us as we can't wait for the next video to come out. But all this just to say thanks for giving us some enjoyment and something to look forward to a few days from now!

That's why it's so common to see folks use an S-10 frame under the old cars. Power steering, Power brakes, stronger and the entire aftermarket sells bolt-on parts for it. Not to mention the ease of finding service parts. Good luck with the build. It looks cool as hell!!!

Brent, I am convinced that you could put a hour long video of paint drying and it would be amazing. Your informative commentary along with your (supposedly) good temperament and choice of sound tracks keep bring me back. I always look forward to each installment.

My dad used to do a different trick for changing valve springs without air. He pushed in a bunch of rope into the cylinder and turn the crank so the piston pushes the rope up against the valves so they can’t fall down and change the springs that way. I’ve done it that way a few times and works great as well.

Neat trick regarding the valve springs! My 2 cents on welding aluminum, if you are able to weld without gloves, you're not hot enough. We always heat the piss out of the aluminum before we go to welding. Also, try turning up your argon, it really helps!
@HalfassKustoms
@HalfassKustoms 3 жыл бұрын
haha for some reason my hands can take a lot of heat, usually I can't put much more heat to the aluminum as it'll get all loose and possibly blow out.

What I like about the old motors is that they are easier to work on and tear down without having to purchase high dollar equipment to work on or to redo the motors. Use to do my own work until the 80's.

I ran a 54 Chevy 2dr sedan back in the 80's (Olds W31 350 / Turbo 400), I used a 55 Chevy 4;10 rear and I used a 67 - 69 Mercury Montcalm 2dr HT gas tank. Other than turning it 90 degrees, it bolted in with no mods to the tank. Add 4 more teeth to the grill, it really smartens up the front end looks.

I had a 50 year old alloy pan repaired by a shop last year, which cut the whole bottom off as you did ,then they made a new base so there was just a perimeter weld to do. Trying to weld that type of diecast is pretty damned hard after oil has gotten into it.

Next time you are looking for a disque brake kit for a later model car try Scarebird classic brakes.They make the caliper brackets that adapt to your stock spindals and then they give you a list of stock parts to use.I can now put a kit on my 40 Hudson coupe.Keep up the great work as always.

Hey Halfass I was unfortunately an aluminum welder and your right on the money about the spool gun. We would get the Kenworth's come into the shop off of the western Alberta oilfield roads and that Aluminum was Alien on the fenders or tanks. We were usually just using a flap disc, SS wire wheel and edge cut wheel for deep work and use of brass/copper flat bar as heat sink if needed.. The spool gun seems to clean much better and you can be hotter but sometimes aluminum is just a pain man as you have demonstrated. Keep it real in an unreal world!

Many Years ago, my Shop Foreman who was a very experienced welder, aluminum welded cracks in my snowmobile clutch. He had me make a steel cutting tool to gouge out the cracks. He said cutting or grinding with a wheel/disc with carborundum in it would put impurities into the aluminum. And make it very hard to weld. So in the end the clutch held for a few weeks till the new one came in... thinking about your pan welding.

You make me so crazy. I watch a show and feel good about you, your work and the results, then silence. Then oh OK I did some more work here watch this and its a completely different cat with all kinds of stuff to do and it so cool. I don't get my work done because I can't help but sit down and watch you tear ass in the show. You were changing the valve springs out and I knew what you were doing but you were working so fast. I thought I wonder how many folks actually appreciate what you were doing. The home made tools etc. then you slow down and walk us thru it, perfect. This is going to be a really nice cruiser. I can see that. Turbo LS is so neat. God I would really like get one of your cars, I think they are so cool. finished enough to enjoy and do the rest yourself when you want to. All your design concepts for power train and accessories is just so in line with my thinking. I saw something two cars down on the right from this Chevy next to the red truck looked like a 47 Chevy coupe. Like I had back in 1966 in Illinois. That would a hoot to get in LS Turbo, 700R4 and posi, lowered, little chop and good seats, dash and gauges. I never thought of the S10 swap but you know it makes a ton of sense. OH well, one of these days. Thank You so much for sharing your efforts. such a great mechanic and so creative in solving the interfaces. Great fun. Take care. Dennis in Virginia

Its Franz Liszt. He adapted Eastern European folk tunes for piano, and some for orchestra. This is Hungarian Rhapsody, probably form mid 1800s, so not sure if he saw Bugs Bunny. The Warner's Cartoons were mostly backed by the Nelson Riddle Orchestra - who backed Sinatra for many recordings. Thats all my music nerd info for today.
