This is why I love this channel. Very few have the skill and the courage to play such a bare-bones rig for an audience. Also, vintage Musicmasters are the most underrated instruments in existence.

I just bought a 1952 fender champ. My musicmasters sound amazing through it. Just crank the amp to 12 and forget about it, then use the volume and tone knobs. Cant beat it. Im addicted to reverb but I barely miss having it with this setup. Might need to look into an old gibson amp though, this one sounds great

Great lesson, thank you so much! Actually I already practice some of the concepts highlighted here. Especially the advice my teacher gave me back then is what took my playing to another level in the topic of body mechanics (the idea was applying as little pressure as possible, it prevents injuries and releases your mind from the fretboard). I have a Epiphone Valve Jr head in mint condition that I bought extremely cheap, but never used much, and I'm thinking about converting it to Gibson GA-5 specifications; it's an easy mod, and it definitely sounds much better. It has just one volume knob, and there you go!

I have wanted a pre CBS Fender Musicmaster from since O started following your videos a few years back. Just a couple of days ago, a guitar tech local to my area gave me a call and told me he found an all original 1962 Musicmaster that is mine if I want it. Hopefully I will be able to purchase it in the next month or so.

Sensei Tomo, that is a beautiful combination… both dark and right side!😅 Serious question, if I’m not mistaken you at one time took a blues ‘sabbatical’ of sorts. My question is, beyond endless listening are there any source materials that stood out on your journey? I’m theory fat (an MA) but never satisfied in my search. Much respect.
@TomoFujitaMusic2 ай бұрын
Thank you for sharing! Yes, I took my sabbatical after 30 years of teaching at Berklee. A lot of thinking about my next life. ended up I became a full time professor at Berklee! I am so happy! I didn't listen any music? My record player has been broken for a while.

@TomoFujitaMusic2 ай бұрын
Thank you!
@plamenpenkov28652 ай бұрын
My guess would be the shorter scale and old tuners necessitate heavier strings for tuning stability. They shouldn't feel heavier than 10s on a strat.
@TomoFujitaMusic2 ай бұрын
22.5 inch neck so 11-48 is good! Those days.. only had one set one size... 12-52 so Leo Fender created this shorter scale neck so it reduced the string tension.

Also like the basic no frills. But I see lots of takeaways here. The guitar color. The fretboard. The keys. And the cable. Supposed to be a cord with right angle jack and coiled so you don't tuck it in the back just right or it will pull out. Or wireless. Amps, tube are basically all the same, high gain tubes and filters. The filters are the biggies, they shape the sound. Another thing. There's no such thing as age. You are just having growing pains. Nothing at all. You could probably sell that guitar and buy a small yacht and a couple of jet skies. Don't forget to where life vests. Also add 3 parts vinegar and one part sugar to your rice water when you make it. You'll like it.
