Well the plan was to go get some things done on the Autocar project however the weather proved to be too much to deal with so I talked about my goals for the truck and gave the tour around the farm that so many of you have asked for as well as discussed future projects and things id like to accomplish in 2020!
Be sure you are SUBSCRIBED to Diesel Creek so you don't miss any project updates! Also if you liked the video help me out and hit that thumbs up button!!!
Follow me on Instagram & Facebook @dieselcreek to see some of what i'm up to before it hits KZbin! #DieselCreek

I actually love old campers like that. There's so much that you can do with them. When I was younger my friend's dad actually got us an old camping trailer he found for free and we made it into a sweet fort. Unfortunately years later the whole thing collapsed due to the weight of the snow that year. We ended up stripping it down to the frame and selling it as a wood hauler.

Yessir, haters gonna hate. Give them no attention. All of the trucks, tractors, shop roof etc., are what I call "W.I.P.,'s" that is "work(s) in progress"... I got a lot of them around my place as well. I eagerly wait and anticipate all the videos to come as each of them get some of your attention. I am now always looking for the church update videos, but I take what you give out... Love your videos of the small jobs you do, the tour of the pipeline (would love more of those, with some narration of what is going on). Thank you sir. P.S., I don't know if you realized it, but you need some gravel where the AutoCar and dozer are parked... Ha, ha, ha...
@DieselCreek
@DieselCreek 4 жыл бұрын
I’d love to be able to make videos of working on the pipeline but the companies don’t like that. We’re not even supposed to take pictures actually but we all do.... no matter I haven’t been on a pipeline since this past spring anyway. That’s the reason I’ve had time to do the KZbin. It’s been nice having a life again and getting things accomplished! Lots of things to come!

One mans junk is another mans treasure. If you don't sell the antique farm equipment Matt perhaps you can clean it up, paint them and use them for lawn sculptures for your yard once you build the house. And before I got into law enforcement I worked as a glass and mirror glazer in Illinois and for a period in southwest Florida. Working outside in weather below 20 degrees with wind and snow is not high on my list so I agree with you on that. I really enjoy your videos and your bumper music is the best. And I pass no judgement on how things look, you get things done when you have the time and I'm sure your number one priority is providing for your family. I look forward for your next video.👍

In soft soil like you have, placing geotextile first will provide a better base. For your gravel it's best to lay in a base of 3" minus. Roll that in well, then top with 3/4" minus.

The 57 looks good after the stem cleaning and from the looks of it it's not that bad I'm sure you can make it look better, the hatch looks original can you save it and see if you can find an adapter to fit inside before you cut it and sand blase the wheels I think they look very good original

Hey Matt- 2, 3 and 4 wire 115v AC extension cords are relatively cheap on Amazon. They make excellent wiring harnesses. Also just cut, solder, heat shrink any needed pigtails. You could easily DIY a complete bumper-to-bumper harness for around $350. As of 04/21/21, a 100 ft. roll of HD extreme outdoor 14/3 cord is only $65. Split wire loom of different sizes, zip ties, tape- is all pretty cheap. 10 ft. red & 10 ft. black 2 AWG w/10pc tinned copper lugs is $60, there goes all your batterystarteralternator needs. The easiest & most economical upgrade would be LED everything; very easy on batteries, charging system, wiring. Low temperature, won't deform old plastic lenses like halogen does (even LL 194 incandescent gets too hot to touch). Brighter for safety, and no need for messing with ballast resistors anymore- most reputable brands have circuits built in. I have purchased all LED (even fan-less headlights) to relamp my entire Buick for $250. Incandescent get hot & burn out.

Good afternoon May I say something? Do not rush it. The cabin is good for restoration. You will learn that with a good welding machine, a few pieces of steel and some patience and metal skills it will be as good as a new one. The engine itself may be sold to Cummins. Or upgraded. I would like to replace it with a Cummins ISM or ISL Take it easy. It has been a long time for this truck to be in good hands It can wait a little bit longer to come back for glory days again

I can totally relate to the weather wrecking plans. I was able to get some gravel down for a work area but then the rains came and that part of the property is STILL holding water because it's been raining every few days. I need a whole month of drought before i'll be able to get things finished up over there due to the mud and standing water. Mostly have to get a few storage buildings moved over there but can't get a truck through there now to do it. And after that, the car ports. This was all SUPPOSED to have been done last year but the weather has just screwed me at every turn. I've got 4 project vehicles all awaiting some work.

Been looking up these trucks as don't know anything about them, now appreciate especially the history, would look great when restored, I built a roof over my containers, I ran the roof completely over the containers and put metal fascia on with guttering all plumbed properly 100% dry, I put a wall on the ends level to the height of the container so stops a fair bit of wind blown rain coming in the ends.

Take your time on the Autocar. I just got a "farm-abandoned-fresh" '55 International R-160 COE hay hauler in a slightly better condition... not wet. I'm currently trying to get the title into my name BEFORE I'll do any work on it. I'm in the same boat when it comes to a "rolling restoration". I view it more like just fixing the truck. A restoration is when you fix to a near perfect condition as when it rolled out of the factory. I suggest that when you get it running pressure wash everything and take it to a car show before going into the more major repairs. That beast will get so much attention but, you will be providing a glimpse of how it was back in the day. Lastly, all of that barn wood does have value. People will pay for that patina. Also as you build your channel you will probably start shooting segments and comments indoors like in an office. That weathered wood can be attached to the wall behind you for a neat background. So don't kick yourself for not making a barn. Just repurpose the wood and the barn can live on some more.

Nice update 👍 just a thought it looks like the ground slopes from the red container to the grey one at the back if you drove your truck from one side to the other any water coming down the hill would divert away rather than through the barn shop 👍 quick fix for now

I had a property once I let get away from me storing a lot of future projects on also. I finely made a list of what I wanted to clean up and I would find time to do one thing on the list each month. That way an over whelming job got done . I might do a couple things off the list if time allowed. The best part of of these cleaning projects is that once you see your progress it makes it easy to keep going. Getting started is always the hardest part. Enjoy the content 👍

Geez and I thought I was bad with too many projects all at once. I'm redoing my basement, working on a 1988 Ford F250 diesel project truck in my driveway (weather conditions permitting), gathering supplies I need to redo my upstairs bathroom, and planning to paint my house exterior in the spring. You got a lot of stuff on your plate.

I had the same problem with my horn on my 55KW. Eventually I got the horn cleaned out and now it sings just like it did when it was new. I know of a few old but solid A-cars sitting in my neighbor's field. If you need a parts I'll see if he'd want to sale anything. For your future shop floor. If you've got a place that you can get crushed concrete or growled up asphalt. That stuff is awesome compared to 3/4-1" rock for a nice and solid base to work on.

Old tires are great for putting under large gravel roads and pads as it helps stop the gravel spreading out, so it can only be pressed down and made compact. There are companies throughout europe that use old tires on the base layer under roads and pack them with gravel as it saves money because the gravel doesn't spread out and stays mostly packed inside the tires

Too bad about the 1991 pickup rotting away. I've got a 1991 Chevy S10 parked in my garage. I crank it up monthly and run it on the roads to warm it up to operating temp. Keeps everything lubricated. 450,000+ miles on it. Rebuilt motor. Runs fine!

For the wiring in the Autocar I think you might be able to get an entire harness from Painless Wiring. It won't be specific to the truck but will have all the wire and relays for lights and other electrical accessories. As long as its sat, it would probably save you a lot of time and headaches to just yank all the electrical out of the truck and replace it. I love old trucks like that and it would be a fun truck to get up and working again.

Lots of real-estate on the exhaust manifold, throw a turbo on it, some of those old n/a cummins had piston sprayers, so the pistons won't cook, tweak the fuel pump a bit to help out, nice useable power, doesn't have to be a hotrod
