I've been watching this since the beginning and at first I have to admit I was like why??? But man I give all the credit in the world for doing this it's been amazing to watch I like that you had the little fella involved once in awhile that was cool to see, my son wanted no part in helping me with my cars when he was little now he's grown up and he was like I wish I would of payed more attention dad because he's finding out cars are expensive to take in to fix, but keep up the great work it's been fun to watch!

That's progress my friend! Never having to remove those frame rails again. That's a reward in itself! Those minitubs are going to be worth the trouble of relocating the seat belt anchor nuts. Good prudent, idea seam welding along the frame rails for extra strength on a 53 year old car that's going to get an engine with more torque than it had originally. Up in Sudbury at my brother's for Christmas. Finished the brake job on my Niece's car yesterday, started the brake job on one of my brother's cars today. Goes fast with three of us working as s team.....in between stuffing ourselves and opening presents🙃. Can't wait to see all new black AMD sheet metal under that automotive work of art you're resurrecting from dust and rust. Strike on! Malcolm Ottawa Valley

Well dang. I'm all caught up. Now I have to actually wait between episodes... I love your mix between presentation/commentary and then actually showing how it's done. Other channels (and heck, TV shows) only give a brief description and a couple minutes of work, then BAM- it's done. After watching your series, I'll definitely be a little less picky when looking at project cars! Here's one for your next Q&A: Since you've obviously poured over every nook and cranny of various body panel catalogs, are there any metal parts that are NOT available for a Charger of this body style?

I don't know how many hours you put into just this install but I am sure it kept you very busy. Your work areas are always spotless and this is reflected in the work your doing on this car. I am looking forward to next series of videos as you bring this car back from the dead.

You do some excellent top notch work. I often wonder how KZbinrs build an audience, and then I noticed that they often do a collaboration with another KZbinr that has a much bigger audience. This only works when the work is top notch, which yours is. Months ago I met Derrek of Vice Grip Garage. I'm in Minneapolis and he was in Coon Rapids, but he's now moved to the Nashville area and just hit a million subscribers. He does occasionally do shout outs for other channels, but I bet if you did a little bit of work on one of his cars and he did a shout out, your subscribers would skyrocket. Just a thought... I'm loving this series, and I'm excited to learn about your other cars. I'm going to go watch those uploads next.

Hey, did I miss something, my last video I watched, you just hung the quarter panel, I never seen the frame rails cut. Did you see the video last month or so of the frame sub connectors Chris Songbird put on Mayhem, from the rear all the way up to the front, you talk about strength. It is amazing how thin those frame rails really are and handled all of the tork. He built fully boxed connectors, for a super rigid frame, it wasn`t that big of a job, he also bitches about AMD, calls it China junk, because nothing ever fits right, you don`t seem to have that problem. Love the vids, can`t wait for more. Joe from Michigan.
@rustbucketrestos6511

AMD is by far the best quality in my opinion. Maybe I’m just a little more optimistic! The rear quarters are just pinned into place with sheet metal screws for now until I get the trunk pan installed.

Man that guitar tone when you was welding the sub...been chasin' that tone for decades! Another curiosity question: are you going to do what a lot of Unibody guys are doing to these, and connect the rear sub to the front clip, making it a one-piece chassis?

Maybe I missed it in your first one, or I just forgot, it was a while ago. But how did you get the spot weld holes to line up on the rail to floor pan? Is that really a critical detail? Or do you think just drilling holes a set distance apart and spot welding them would be sufficient?
@rustbucketrestos6511
@rustbucketrestos6511 3 жыл бұрын
No, they are were only two holes that were in the rails that I was able to match up to the floor pan. Gave me a little more confidence that the new rails went in the same place as the old!

Curiosity question but, what do you run your 'Heat' at on your Welder?
@rustbucketrestos6511

I tend to run as hot as I can without burning through or without melting the wire before it hits the metal. My welder is a little different. It just has settings 1-6. No voltage or amp adjustment. I run it between 3-4 and wire speed at 3.8.

@Rust Bucket Resto’s Birdsong is the best. He has been doing this for years and he really knows how to work with amd panels. We made mopar action many this issue.

Man oh man bro, you sure are getting that charger up really fast. So tell me, are you going to undercoat the bottom of the car. You could color match the undercoating so you can put it on part of the rocker panel.

Yes, I’ll probably coat it with lizard skin and then topcoat with the body color.

@@rustbucketrestos6511 oh ok, what's lizard skin though. I thought I'd put the idea out there. I know how much time and work has went into it and preserving it would be my key

Lizard Skin is a ceramic insulated coating that goes over your rust preventative & primer. Helps a lot with heat and road noise. Also helps preserve the undercoating so you don’t have more issues down the road. The best part is that lizard skin is also paintable after fully curing. Check it out! Good stuff!

At this point, this looks like far more like an AMD Charger than a Dodge Charger. Nice build tho!

Does it ever cross your mind that you are basically building a new 68 charger because of how little is of original metal is left I just find it funny it seems like you could build a whole car with all the replacement panels they sell
