nice job showing the steps involved, my fuel tank on my '67 had rusted through, so on my replacement, I sprayed on undercoating before installing it.

Great video, thank you. I appreciate that you included the fuel line replacement. Very helpful.

I think a good seal for the tank is the 3M strip-calk. (dum-dum) Comes in box of 1' strips. Stays soft for easy removal and clean up next time the tank comes out. Thanks for the video.

Glad to see you back on the Mustang. It would be nice if all tanks had a drain plug!

yea that gas cap is the standard cap for a 1969, but hey whenever it was painted It probably looked better than what was there. Great job on the install that ougth to eliminate any fuel problems in the future

Nice install. I also didn't know what to do with old gas when removing an old tank. Had some interesting suggestions like pour it on the driveway or let it evaporate out of a 5 gallon bucket. I ended up straining it and poured about 2 gallons in to my daily driver just after every fill up until it was gone.

I had thought about mixing a little at a time into good gas as well.

My 68 convertible in that same color blue but it's faded a bit. I just ordered 2 fuel tank's one for my 66 the other for that 68 convertible. Something really cool and kind of rare. When I was doing a little work up front I took my drivers side front panel off and guess what I found. A FoMoCo AC from the factory it would be done but I joined the military and yard everyone will tell you that the 289 k code didn't come with that car. But it did long story short I pulled it out triple rapped it went to boot camp came back and my dad had scrapped my k code for metal. I've been thinking of different engines ever since. I found a nice 428 CJ but it's in a Talladega and I don't want to take a matching engine out of that rare of a car.

Great video did mine awhile back and added a compression an fitting and ran a steel braided up to the mech. Pump. Would you happen to know off hand what long tubes those are??

I’ve only got this far in your playlist. Did you remove the tank and put body caulk between the tank and trunk?
@JoDaddysGarage5 жыл бұрын
I did not. Not much of an issue in Ga. I may go back and add it though. thanks.
@swooshdave5 жыл бұрын
I don’t think it has to do with where you live. Typically any sheet metal part that is bolted together may need the caulk to prevent metal on metal movement. Regardless of the number of bolts there can be some movement as the body flexes. Anyways, awesome work. I only hope to be able to do a fraction of what you do.

I see you asked the question. Lol! Pretty major step there. I’m surfing around to see what people use. I’ve seen everything from strip caulk to weather strip. The later is a bad idea as far as attracting moisture.

Hello I have a question, when I put gas into my car it leaks gasoline but not from the bottom like you’ll see in most videos it leaks between where you open up the gas cap and the nozzle that puts gas into the car and gas goes everywhere and creates a mess and gets on the paint. If you know why this happens and what I can do to prevent this some feedback would be great.
@JoDaddysGarage4 жыл бұрын
I assume you're talking about a Mustang. How old is the hose between the gas cap fitting and the tank? It's likely that it dry rotted, and has caused a leak. Check that first.
@jacksjourney94874 жыл бұрын
Jo Daddy's Garage sorry I didn’t explain the problem enough I’ll get a video of me putting gas in and send it to you, I think the reason why it leaks has to do with the length of the gas nozzle not being long enough so gas doesn’t even make it into the tank without spilling

Quick Question! The fuel line you ordered was it a 2 piece kit? Mine says two piece but I didn't see yours as a two piece so just making sure. I'm assuming since there was a rubber hose that's where the second piece attaches and then goes up towards the engine bay?
