1968 Plymouth Barracuda 383 4 speed

I had a '67 383 S Torqueflite in Bright Blue Metalic with a white interior. I ordered it from the factory and kept it for 17 years. I really loved that car. Some one ran into the back of it and damaged the molding on the lower edge of the deck lid. It took me about 4 months & a huge long distance phone bill to find a replacement, after that I was afraid to drive it on the street! It was also hard to find gas that it could run on.

In ‘68 I had a blue ‘67 Formula S fastback with a factory blueprinted 273, dual point Mallory distributor, Carter AFB, 3 speed torqueflight on the console and a little TLC to boot. It was challenged but never beaten by 289 Mustangs and held its own against a few big blocks. Happy to have had that car. Wish I still did.

I had the 68 with a 340. It would eat all of the big block SS Chevy's I had hands down.

Wow, what a beautiful car. I was always impressed that Chrysler managed to fit a 383 into the Valiant chassis. Although it did come at the cost of power brakes; the brake booster wouldn't fit with the 383

Beautiful. I had a 64 Dart GT convertible and a GT hardtop same year. Sold them both to pay the rent in graduate school. Wanting another A body these days, guy has a 68 Cuda with all the trim for 10.5, may hav to pull the trigger on it

Is your 67 383 hv a 4speed? If so why doesn't this car hv "REVERSE SHIFT INDICATOR" 4SPEED ISSUE? HAVE you ever saw a 67 383 Nontch 4sp without the formula S hood and lower fender medallion?? There is a '67 383 4sp notch back *headrest buckets - NO medallions no hood trearments but DOES HV PROPER "383 FOUR BARREL" ON LOWER FENDERS.

727 auto. I do have reverse lights and indicator on the floor shifter if that is what you were asking. I do not believe any 67 Cuda came without the hood ornaments. Those were standard issue on all styles. In 68 they added engine size to them and ditched them for the fake air induction scoops in 69. I never knew why they wood put fake induction scoops on the hood. If you through that much trouble, make them real.

I'm sure they made 67 383 notchback... That didn't hv F-S medallions...?? Did any 67 383 BCudas have "383 4 barrel" call outs on the lower fenders behind the front tires above lip of dog leg...??

Yes, all 383 Formula S and 273 Formula S had the four barrel tag behind the front wheel. Also, I am pretty sure that all styles had the ornamental hood. Not precise, but if you just Google 1967 Barracuda images, non will come up without hood ornaments. Just saying.

@@JJj-xratedgt This car has an early 1968 shifter with a reverse lock out handle. The late 1968 and 1969 4 speed cars came with Hurst shifters and a reverse indicator light, as the shifter didn't have reverse lock out. The 1968 got the regular 4 barrel 383, while the 1969 got the Roadrunner 383.

Just add a crankshaft from a 440ci to the 383ci and you will have a non-hemi 426ci engine.

Chevy has never made a 383 motor . Motor builders take 350 cid blocks and stroke them to get 383 cid out of them. 383 is a big block mopar engine
