Thank you for the great memories. My grandfather owned the exact same car and in the same color. I remember the full time power steering. It only took one finger to turn the steering wheel.

I had one like that in my younger days; same color and all. Very agreable to drive.

Had the '72 Newport Royale in the Forest Green colour. Wonderful automobile, regret having ever parted with it. It was like riding on air...

I had one just like it when I was 17 - 18, but it didn't have a vinyl top. I called it The Beast.

My parents bought a new 1972 Chrysler Newport Royal, they were a low priced full size car with standard crank up windows and no power locks. It came with the standard bench seat and a/c, and a 400 2bbl with a 727 torque flight transmission. It was a massive car,I remember going on cross country vacations going through death valley mid summer at 85 mph and the a/c had us freezing inside the thing.

My Grandpa drove a 1972 Newport 4-Door Sedan like this from 1979 to the early 90's. Except his was a Royal and not an upmarket Custom like this and it was a walnut brown with a tan brown interior. It was massive...he let me drive it once on the highway and the way the hood was styled it was like I was driving in a lane-and-a-half. I remember how beautiful the wheel covers were after polishing but the trunk lid made a tinny sound when closing. He gave it away eventually when it was too old and required too many repairs. I wish I had asked him to save it for me because I have only a few photographs to remember him by...he wasn't sentimental.

Nice car. Restore it and remember the Golden Days of car identity.

While the 1973 Newport had a squared-up front grille, it had similar-shaped taillamps, but looked more like footprints!

King of The Castle >>> But size is beauty. Road superiority is bad ass. That’s the whole point. Pity you don’t get it. But that’s okay... I’m sure there’s a Nissan Leaf or Chevy Spark waiting for you somewhere! 🤣😝 Excuse me while I appreciate what a *REAL* car is supposed to look like.

My grandparents had a 4-door that was brown with a cream colored top. I was around 5 years old and just remembered how massive the car was. I couldn't see out the windows and felt like I was in a tank. The trunk was huge too. I had forgot about the car over the years but recently watched State of Grace with Gary Oldman who drives a '72 Newport in the movie which unlocked my memories of the car.

What’s with the 11-14-96 written on the fan shroud? Is that the date a new radiator or fan would have been installed?
@trucksandheavymetal5 жыл бұрын
it also says -40 so I'm assuming at the very least they tested the freezing point of the coolant, whether or not any other work was performed on that day I don't know

I was sure this care would have power windows and locks, since I see it has cornering lamps and a power antenna.
