My grandpa had a Monte Carlo (76 or maybe 77) that was optioned with swivel seats like that. For older and/or handicapped folks they made getting in or out SO much easier. I’m a little surprised that more manufacturers don’t offer such an option in this era with as many of the aging baby boomers there are - but with the SUV being as insanely popular as they are they’re spacious enough for them to get in & out of pretty easily.

great custom 👍. As I said custom, it makes me mad when people will talk down on a person that do their car the way they want, like cars that will have custom paint with 26inch wheels and a person will get mad like they messed they own car up. to each is own, you only live once , so do the car any way they want. They don't have to be original.

I have always typically hated the loss of bumpers, but THIS... This is absolute perfection. Restoration is cool, I guess, but let's face it, that Olds was a terrible driver even when new. I love that you gave it the foundation (I feel) it deserves, to make it drive far better than 1973 could have ever imagined. If my dad still had his '73 Charger, I would ship it to you guys next month! 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤

@c2jones I have one now, been in the family since '76. It has been garaged, driven very little, all the way to 41,393 miles. Even with modern rubber on the 442 suspension, it barely drives better than my very worn '70 C/10. Maybe yours is a better example than mine.

I owned at least 25 cuttlass's from 68 to 76 and I loved all of them they were very powerful machines but I never had a cutlass with nitrous, I was just too scared of blowing my engine up,my 71 cutlass 442 which I worked on had a 455 rocket engine with a Holley double pumper and a crane cam with a 2500 stall speed converter I installed in it and a 411 posi rear which would lift the front end of the ground and the rear wheels would squeal and I took it to atco speedway in New Jersey in the mid 80's and it ran low 12's in the 1/4 mile, it was my favorite old's that I owned 😎👍❤️

Although the Cutlass is smoking, that's not oil dripping from the tailpipes.. it's condensation that builds-up in most exhaust system, caused by a cooling exhaust & the humidity in the air. It's pretty common anywhere that has high humidity. And the smoke could be unspent fuel that's being reburnt in the catalytic converters, once the flaps in the muffler starts opening. Which changes the air flow mixture & confuses the Mass Air Sensor for a few moments. It's all about the tuning, so the unspent fuel is probably not an issue when you drive the car past 20mph.
@alwcurlz7 жыл бұрын
I doubt that's oil. It was late October in the video so it was pretty chilly out. You'll get lots of vapor coming out that time of year.

Love those tail lights also. Another bad looking set of tail lights was the first year they came out with the Chevrolet Monte Carlo! Grew up on Oldsmobiles near Detroit, so love those Cutlass's!

Very interesting video! I remember my neighbor had a Laguna with swivel seats like that. White car, red body accents with a red velour interior. He beat the ever living shit out of that car and traded it couple years later for a new Firebird. I was just 10 at the time, but loved cars just like everyone else. He was nice enough to take me on a bunch of joy rides in several of the cars he owned over the years.

I have a stock 73 442, and I have been trying to figure out how to clean the front clip up, and drop the front bumper. When I bought the car. The front bumper was off from a small accident were, the 5 mph shock was pushed in. No big deal. The front bumper on a 73 is considerably smaller than a 74 but, the 73 bumper is still 125-135 Lbs! Also, it looked so, much cleaner with out it. Except for the inset natches for the bumper. I thought RS Camaro split bumpers to replace the boat anchor org! So, I saw you're car a few years back, and Wow! You figured out how to clean it up really nice! I mean you hit it out of the ball park!!! I have owned a few of these cars over the years. My first 73 cutlass, I paid $90 for. Except for brakes, tires, tune up, and a oil change. I drove that cutlass daily for over 5 years till the rust finally done it in! So, I went looking for another one, and then another one. By the late 90's they started to become, hard to find! I would buy classic car sales guides, and 64, to 72, 442's were always in these sale catalogs. Because, the people who own these car's Love these car's, and they don't come off them! Which wasn't always the case. That first one I had, I had people come up to me, and tell me it's not a 66-72, it's worthless junk! So, most of them were driven, then scrapped! Now, I have people come up to me, and tell me how F'n cool my car looks, and sounds! I always thought they did! My first one was the same deep burgundy with white stripes, as the one I have now. Again, great job on the 442! Beautiful, and 900+ Hp! That's just bitchen!!!

The builder should be proud of this one. A '73 Cutlass 442 is not one of the 'Usual Suspects' when one talks about the Classics from the era, but this car will stand tall against any of the Classics. I love when a Pontiac, Mercury, Oldsmobile, AMC or Non Chevy/Ford/Dodge is done up like this. I love it.

Lou Costabile it’s getting really hard to find buildable cars any more. AZ used to be a treasure trove for these because we don’t have rust issues like they have back East, but it seems like they’ve all been bought up. I was trying to find something as I’ve been looking for my street strip car since High School, but always seem to have financial problems keeping me from doing anything. The past year has been one of the worst as far as my health is concerned! Hopefully I’ll get there some day. In the mean time, thanks for sharing your story!

Beautifully made. Removing the front bumper really changes the appearance completely. That LSA is a wonderful engine, I have it in my CTS-V M6 Coupe. It's dead nuts reliable and fast, also removes 250 pounds off the front of that car compared to the 455. Great car.
